MAKE A STATEMENT!

One of my favorite statement jackets!

When I began to make over my life, seven years ago, I really focused first on good basic wardrobe essentials which fit well and could make lots of outfits. But, as I have gone further on my journey, I began to learn how to develop the style I wanted to portray. Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion fades, but only style remains.” So, I began to wonder what style did I want to have? Yes, I want to look youthful, but not necessarily trendy. I want to look classy, but not stuffy. I want to look creative, but not kooky! This is not something that you figure out over one weekend; it is a process.

One of the ways I have focused on just my style, is to occasionally add what I think is a statement piece to my wardrobe. These are unique pieces…they say ME….and I might spend a little more money on them than other pieces. From accessories to clothing, these pieces originate from a variety of places. I often find myself pondering over such a piece by asking, “Should I do this….will I really wear this…is this me?? “ Just so you get the jest of it, I have pictured a few of my clothing statement pieces here and will tackle accessories in the next blog. Style is communication and you must decide what you want to communicate with your statement piece selections. Remember, ladies, we are all a work in progress; don’t get discouraged!

Coco, also, said,

“Elegance is not a prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.”

“A girl should be two things: Classy and fabulous.”

Just bought this fabulous grey sweater at Stein Mart!
Love the statement collar
Coldwater Creek tweed jacket. Seaming makes it very slimming!
