We Need A Little Springtime, Now!

I got this great light weight jacket in the current
Coldwater Creek clearance for $19!  It’s 59% cotton and
41% Linen…I love the khaki ribbon detailing!
Reminds me of SPRING!

This is the time of year when hope blossoms just a little bit….after January some begin to see little glimpses of seasonal changes…the hope of spring to come. March is just four weeks away, and, as Maria sang, “spring will come again.”

Today’s post is dedicated to the need for spring! I read so many blogs each week where struggles within are evident….some are battling self- acceptance….some relationship issues….some the struggles of serious illness either their own or a loved one….some are bummed by the intense winter weather itself….we all have our individual struggles.

We have been assessing all weekend a break in at our home….this comes at a time when I have been working with a doctor to get my health in better shape that will require some big changes in days to come (which I will share with you later); planning a wedding and all of the stress which surrounds it; and many changes with my job; my freelance writing ramping up so to speak; and helping my son work through disappointments and what his future after high school holds.

One of the ways I deal with “the winter of my discontent” is my sense of humor. We have laughed as we imagined the thieves walking in our bathroom and being frightened by the hat rack full of scarves (it looks like a colorful Cousin It) or opening our son’s bedroom door and thinking as they saw chaos, “Oh someone already has been here!”

Also, I take things one day at a time….I only have to go to the blogs to see that my issues are miniscule compared to some of you….I try to take my focus off of me and place it on others….and I pray without ceasing.

Finally, it might sound materialistic, but….a spring outfit or saturated color can brighten me up any day!! In the midst of winter, we all need a little spring. Now, just hum the tune to WE NEED A LITTLE CHRISTMAS and sing: “ We need a little springtime…right this very minute…we need a little springtime and the sunshine that comes with it…yes we need a little springtime…right this very minute…we need a little springtime…NOW!!  I can’t hear you….sing out loud!!

  1. You are handling the break in better than I would. And Spring is here today. It will be gone tomorrow but 1 day is better than none.

  2. Pam–I love this skirt on you! It looks great with the boots. While we have bright sunshine here today, tomorrow promises to be full of sleet and Tuesday snow. I know exactly what you mean about coming to know the struggles of friends in cyberspace…and there are several I pray for myself.

We do the same with setbacks in our lives–often finding a grim humor in the most awkward situations.

  3. Oh Pam, I'm feeling you! I'm soooooo ready for Spring! You look so pretty…..I swear you have the BEST hair! I've been a bad friend and I really apologize. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed lately and there is just so much to this blogging thing that I find myself spending way more time on it than I really want to.

I'm going to put your number in my phone this week and hopefully can somewhat sync our schedules. 4pm for you is actually 5pm for me, I think. I'm sooooo looking forward to chatting with you! I HATE that your house was robbed!!
That has happened to me and it left me unsettled to say the least. HUGE hugs to you girly and I just saw your Links A La Mode!!!! You go girl!!! So sweet for you to mention me! ~Serene

  4. We got a glimpse of spring this past week and it does spoil me! Now I want more! Your coldwater creek jacket was a score! It looks great. Blogger finally let me add you to my blogroll so now I can keep up with your blog better!

Good luck with your health issues. A few years ago I started a trek -having a lot of hormonal and perimenopausal symptoms led me to a natural clinic- they helped me so much. Found out I was gluten and dairy intolerant and had adrenal fatigue. Getting off the allergic foods and having them treat my adrenals was a God-send. So thankful.

  5. Oh, sorry to hear about the break in. How rude of someone!

You are rocking the spring look, and I am with you – bring it on!

  6. How ironic, I am wearing a spring outfit in my post today as well. You look lovely. Thank you for featuring me on your blog yesterday. That was quite an honor.

  7. oh Pam, i am so glad you and your family are safe and didn't walk in on the robbers! what an ugly feeling. and how 'above and beyond' of you to think of others at such a stressful time and let us know we need to backup!

on that note, my dad worked in IT for UCB for years – they had backups sent to different geographical areas. UCB sits on the Hayward Fault, if there's a big earthquake and you've sent your backup discs a mile away chances are good they'll get destroyed there too. this also applies to flood or fire prone areas, etc….monthly or so you may want to mail copies to a contact out of state.

and doing small things to cheer yourself up is vital – sometimes that's all we can do, so work it we must!! that jacket is fabulous on you and i can't wait to see you dress it further up and further down – great purchase. Take care and thank you for thinking about us!!! steph

  8. Sorry to hear about the break in, there's been a few in my area recently and I it has me checked that the doors are locked every 5 minutes. You have a great attitude though; I know a lot of people would dwell on it and find it hard to find a funny side but it sounds like you've managed!

Here in Belfast we don't usually see an improvement in the weather until march or april so I have a couple of months of wooly jumpers and wellies to enjoy yet 🙂

Love the outfit – looks very comfy yet stylish and at $19 that jacket was an absolute bargain! ♥
