Free Anti-Aging Secret: #3 Enjoy People!

Autumn is beginning to appear ever so quietly in Texas!

Before reading this post, take just a moment to look in the mirror….now grimace…do you see what it does to your face?? If we continually walk around upset with others, then we are going to look older. When I encourage you to enjoy people…I mean just that …learn to enjoy others, particularly the more difficult ones.

I have heard all types of anti-wrinkle advice. This list includes:

• Do not drink with straws

• Exercise your neck and chin when just sitting around. Supposedly men look younger because they twist and turn their face each day while shaving…not to mention the daily exfoliation!

• Of course, avoid the sun and wear sunscreen daily

• Don’t lay on the same side of your face at night

I actually think it would make for a funny sitcom to portray a women attempting to remember and do everything we are told in order to remain wrinkle-free. The sad truth is that at some point it happens. No matter what we do.

Enjoying your life and the people will give you a more joyful outlook from your inside out. Currently, I am reading Tim Gunn’s book, Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons for Making It Work and he speaks a great deal about just being nice no matter what is going on in your life. He writes, “I remember in Season 2, we went to see Fern Mallis, who runs Fashion Week here in New York, and worldwide, too. I think it was Daniel Vosovic who asked her, ’What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a young designer getting into this industry?’

“Be nice,” she said without hesitation. I thought God Bless You, Fern Mallis.”

Tim has many diva stories in the book, and advises, “If you get a reputation for being a diva, you’d better be truly phenomenal to overcome the personal bias people are going to have toward working with you.”

Now, that I think about it, divas usually have wrinkle problems….and they said it was the stage makeup!!

A PERSON I WANT TO ENJOY TODAY IS ONE OF YOU, and I want to say THANK YOU to Paris blogger Tish Jett for featuring me as one of her 50+ faces from the blogosphere. This is an intimidating group…check out these gorgeous women HERE.

  1. Well said. I love Tim Gunn. Perhaps I should grab his book. Drinking through straws? That is just silly! I think beauty is only skin deep and it is true no matter the age… if you are beautiful on the inside it radiates outwardly. xo

  2. Being nice does go a long way.

As I've gotten older and more confident I've come to realize that "being nice" doesn't include tolerating treatment from other people that's not right. When you get over that hurtle then being nice has a lot going for it.

  3. I think that good skin is also partially hereditary and the sun has soooooo much to do with it. I look at the people I see who didn't bake in the sun and their faces look so much younger than the women whose skin looks like leather. A lesson some learn to late. I agree, it's always good to be nice…..it makes you look good phyiscally and to those around you. And it makes you feel good inside too!

  4. You are so right. On everything!
There are too many tips and techniques, do's and don'ts, and let's not even think about all the anti-aging products out there.
I noticed some time ago that I look like a completely different person when my face is in motion – talking, laughing, or just expressing interest in things around me – than I do when my face is completely still. Not necessarily younger, just much nicer and more interesting!

  5. It's funny that I started doing the facial exercises while I was reading that without realizing it. There is actual facial exercise equipment out there. So funny.

Love that blazer. What a great find. It is very Chanel-esque.

    xo,
    Tracy
