San Antonio: In All Its Christmas Glory!
First, I must thank KENS 5 and the Robert Tips Family once again for the wonderful weekend in downtown San Antonio. We had not played tourists since our children were young, so this was so much fun for a couple of empty nesters and a much needed get away from the stresses of life!!
The Tips Family own the beautiful, historic The Fairmount Hotel where we stayed the weekend. It has so much charm and coziness. In fact, the overseer for the property is Luke, the family dog. The lobby is surrounded by his framed press clippings and we found him throughout the weekend lying on his pillow by the piano. This famed city dignitary even has his own business cards (which I now carry with me just to feel important)! This would be the perfect location for a New Year’s Eve stay as Hemisphere Park is directly across the street, where all the city festivities take place.
We must also thank Mark, manager of the hotel restaurant, Tre Trattoria. We wondered in at closing time the first night looking for dessert and he more than accommodated. I highly recommend the Nutella X3…if you like chocolate, it is chocolate heaven! The next day he greeted us for dinner with a complimentary appetizer. My pasta with saffron sauce and Mr. B’s pan roasted salmon with Butternut puree were delectable….we highly recommend, but make reservations….they were packed for Saturday dinner.
Thank you for your kind comments. I hope everyone who now desires to travel to SA will get their opportunity soon…consider Fiesta 2012 in the Spring. For more about the city, just click here.
One street shot…we have a very fashionable city!! |
Last picture at the hotel…it was nice to be “50 and Fascinating” for one weekend. Thanks to all the sponsors! |
I ran into Santa and Mrs. Claus laughing it up on the Riverwalk…but, really, there are only two days left! We have to get to work!
Love seeing more of where you live. If I ever make it there I'm looking you up, Girl!! xo
These tours are great. You are such a fine hostess, making me want to visit every place you've shown. As an aside, you really look stunning in that orange pea coat (an amazing color!)
Sooo loving all the pics……the pumpkin carriage is just too adorable:)
