Silk Jackets, Purple Legs, No Regrets

Maggy London Silk Jacket: Goodwill
Black Travelers Cami: Chicos
Print Skirt: Lane Bryant

Silk….beautiful, luxurious silk…is due to make a big come back for next fall. Last summer, I purchased this silk jacket at Goodwill for $3….I love the feel of it!! Unfortunately, because of our heat and humidity, I do not get to wear it for very long, but it is perfect for the transitional times.

Middle age is perhaps the ultimate of transitions. It is easy to spend this time living in the land of regrets. There are times I allow my thoughts to drift into…

I wish I had learned to eat healthier earlier

I wish I had learned to love exercise.

I wish I had accepted that job or not accepted another.

I wish I had allowed my mother to teach me to sew as she wanted to.

I wish…I wish…I wish…..

I have some friends who literally carry a card in their wallets that says STOP on the front of it. Whenever, they begin to think negatively they are to pull out the STOP card and begin to think of what good is happening in their lives right at that moment. I do not carry a STOP card, but I have learned to recognize the signs. If I give “the regrets” a foothold, they will soon move in and stake a claim. For me, I mentally say STOP, take one day at a time, and focus on my blessings.

NO REGRETS ….just excitement to find gorgeous silk at Goodwill!!  Now that’s a blessing!

  1. I couldn´t agree more with you my gorgeous friend. Not point in looking back, just enjoy TODAY.
Those legs of yours should always be out for all of us to enjoy, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Loving your jacket, and adoring your SKIRT, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh( sigh).

  2. The Mid-Atlantic area has long transitional seasons so silk is a fabric I'll always consider. I like it blended with cotton in sweaters.

  3. I love silk, in all its iterations! I don't regret anything either (well, maybe not having had more confidence in myself when I was younger, but that's about it). Everything in the past was either a blessing or a lesson. All we can do is be grateful or learn, and focus on the present.

  4. I love silk too, as long as I can hand wash it. I don't buy anything that needs dry cleaning. (STOP card is a great idea!)

  5. Oh, silk. I love it so much, but rarely get a chance to wear it, for the very same reason. I've convinced myself I deserve to have a few silk pieces in my closet, however.
Not being given to regrets, I don't need to stop! 🙂 But I do have to post reminders to myself to BREATHE. I tend to get too focused sometimes and tense my muscles and breathe shallowly, so I need the reminder to loosen up, relax, and take deep breaths.

  6. I am a fan of silk- it helps keep me warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. However, I think I treat it too preciously- not wearing it often, saving for spec occasions. I like your view about letting go of regrets. Whatever leads you to this delicous moment you are in is something to cherish in its own way, even the mistakes we make. My mistakes, and oh there are SO many! also carved my character which as a whole is pretty strong. The mistakes provided me harsh lessons to learn, but whoozah, once learned they are mastered and I'm off to explore the next adventure. Love to you, lovely Pam L! xo. -Bella Q the Citizen Rosebud

  7. First–love the outfit and how everything just plays off the other!!
I love silk but have none except scarves at the moment–but I'm keeping my eyes open. I love how it feels and the vibrancy of the colors

  8. I'm wearing purple tights today too!! I will be posting the pics tonight or tomorrow. It's just a purple kind of day.

That blazer looks like it would be yummy to touch.

  9. I'm envious of the Goodwill stores you guys have. Love the jacket. I've noticed you've mentioned a couple of times now that you wish you'd allowed your mom to teach you to sew … would you (and I know how busy you are … but) consider doing a course? It's fun and liberating being able to sew.

  10. That's a great necklace and I love the color of the tights.I don't own much silk except from a shirt and a blouse. But I's love to have more although I'm a mess at taking care of them.
