Fashion, music, art….they all speak
in different ways to different types of people.
My husband recently asked me how I decide if I like a painting.  “My favorite paintings are the ones I want to
walk into and stay there for a while,” I answered.

When I was a child, I loved to look
at houses through the muted hues of dawn and dusk.  I am still that way.  There is something mesmerizing to me about
houses with lights in the windows or on the porch.

Maybe because my own childhood was not that
great, I would imagine happy families inside around a meal table laughing!  This is why I loved Thomas Kinkade.  Oh, I realize there are some art critics who
called Kinkade an affront to the art world. He made the deadly mistake of over-saturation.  I also realize that beginning in 2010,  Kinkade was experiencing great personal problems
up until his death last Saturday at the young age of 54.  Nevertheless, his art work touched my heart
in many different ways.  He is not the
only painter I enjoy, but definitely one of my favorites.  His death so young saddens me. But, the two
paintings I own will forever be cherished…because of my fascination with houses
and lights!

My mission as an artist is to capture those
special moments in life adorned with beauty and light. I work to create images
that project a serene simplicity that can be appreciated and enjoyed by
everyone.  That’s what I mean by sharing
the light  . – Thomas Kinkade
