“One day at a time–this is enough. Do not look back and
grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future,
for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will
be worth remembering.”  Anonymous
Each day is special …no matter what is on your
calendar.  It is special.  It is a gift.
I have known about this way to live for years, but I have only put it
into practice the last three years.  When
my husband became unemployed and we set on a new journey of empty nesting and
no guaranteed income, I found myself going through periods of panic.  Constant worry around the question, “What
will become of us?”
Tunic and Tank: CHICOS: TUNIC NOW ON SALE
Capris: TALBOTS (they were too tight in the spring…fit now!!)
Somehow, one day, I began to be grateful for the fact that
we had provisions for that day….food on the table, a roof over our heads, and
bills paid, just that day.  As I started
to live with gratitude just for each day and not worry about the future, my joy
returned and was deep and heartfelt.  I felt younger, more hopeful….free!
I can do anything for one day:
Today I will walk for exercise and eat healthy meals.
Today I will smile at everyone I see.
Today I will learn something new.
Today I will accomplish as much as possible, but still take
time to smell the honeysuckle.
Today I will bless people around me…my husband, my children,
my students, fellow teachers and friends, on and off line.
Today I will make a difference.
Tomorrow, I will get up and do it all over again!  Goals are good. Vision is important. Dreams
are what made America great.  However, I
will do all of it, one day at a time.
And, of course, today, I will look my best and be very
visible on VISIBLE MONDAY and MONDAY MINGLE and MANNEQUIN MONDAY…go see what everyone else is wearing today!

  1. Wonderful, uplifting post, Pam. It is indeed tempting to live in the past or future, but we risk losing the present joy. You look beautiful — this minute — in your tunic and gorgeous gold bracelet. : >

  2. AMEN Pam, AMEN!!! We had an evangelist today at church and his message was "The hard part is OVER" Yes, yes it is!! and you're post just echoes we have choices we can make each day that will affect how we end that day!!
You look gorgeous in that outfit–love the top!

  3. This is a great post and as much as I like to think I am grateful daily, I still need to read this! Thank you for reminding me of what I know to be true but seem to forget sometimes. Truly, this spoke to me because I am in a weird place with my business and honestly, I don't know what the next couple of months will bring. I really need to take it one day at a time right now, for my own sanity. Thank you Pam. 🙂

  4. This is such solid and good advice. I am fretting too over our financial future…and this suddenly put it all in perspective again. You look so fresh and cool. Is that an illusion? It was cooler here today.

  5. So glad to find your blog! Im with you, and think your story is so inspiring. We really don't NEED much and to re-evaluate and downscale I have found is really the best lesson. I am trying to simplify my life. My hubs is retired and I have my hands in a million things, but am trying to get back to basics. You are beautiful Pam, and so is your outfit!

You always bless us by being such a postitive and inspirational person. Thank you for that.

  7. This is the new attitude I have been trying to adapt to since my world as I knew it fell apart. Everyday I wake up and thank God for food for today, a house for today, money for today, and I tell him I'm believing something good is going to happen today… and it usually does! xo

  9. The tunic and capris are wonderful…they look cool and airy on a hot San Antonio day! (although I must say, my family in Round Rock have actually had cooler temps than some we've had in Illinois!)

Love your inspiring words. I really need to take them to heart!

    Blessings,
