Go To Goodwill, Then Call Me In The Morning!

A friend called the other day to tell me she was sad…she had no money, wanted to shop, wanted to partake of all of the cute trends out for fall, and well…was just having a “Woe is me Party!”

I told her to get up and immediately get over to Goodwill…then call me the next day to tell me if she was feeling better!  And, YES, after shopping at Goodwill, she was feeling great.  Just like I felt when I found this brand new, tags still on, not worn, Talbot’s orange tweed jacket.  The original price was $169…my price in Julia’s Attic at Goodwill was only $12…BRAND NEW!

I am also participating right along with the polka dot trend with this great fitting jacket from Goodwill at only $4!!  Last week, you asked me on the Mother-of-the-Groom post where my outfit came from….you got it, Goodwill!  The leopard tunic and green jacket were both $1.99.  I have really worn this leopard tunic out with animal prints so in right now!

Finally, if dressing yourself doesn’t get rid of the doldrums then possibly decorating your house for autumn will!  I bought a large basket full of autumn leaves at Goodwill for only $3!!

Whenever I need a pick-me-up, Goodwill is where I head…and that is a fact!  Now, go enjoy autumn, have a wonderful Monday and make sure you visit the ladies of VISIBLE MONDAY and MONDAY MINGLE!!

  1. That Talbot's tweed jacket is fantastic – great colour, really suits you, and I like the clashing scarf. Donating money to a good cause, so much better than going to the woe is me party!

  2. great advice.. when im feeling that way but the funds dont permit a good spree, i hit up Ebay, it works every time!
You are looking fabulous as always! i cant decide which outfit i love more, the peachy blazer and scarf combo or the black and white and red…. each are brilliant! xx

  3. The orange jacket is GORGEOUS!!
I love my Goodwills, Salvation Armies and Mission Thrifts!!
I picked up never worn Naturalizer ballet Fallets, never worn Clarks Shooties and never worn Capezio aleet flats for $11 this weekend at the Goodwill!!! You can't beat the variety and prices

  4. Goodwill is one of my favorite places to shop! You have to be careful, though. I've been to some Goodwill stores that are really grimy and dirty and disorganized, which can be very frustrating for an avid shopper. Some stores can also be more pricy than others. Thankfully my hometown has a nice, clean Goodwill store, with very reasonable prices. Love what you found on your recent shopping trip!

  5. Hi Ann, I just wanted to chime in on behalf of our San Antonio Goodwill's. They are really in great shape and kept up quite nicely. We also have a generous population which keeps the Goodwill locations well stocked! Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Pam, you are so adorable with your GoodwillingNESS! So CUTE! All those deals and I know how good it feels to pick up a garment for almost nothing! It is like a great treasure hunt and boy, does it feel good. There is no room for sadness anymore in the world. Just get dressed up. Everyone can afford it. 🙂

  7. Pam, I so agree with you on Goodwill as a pick me up. I rarely walk out empty handed, but I never walk out with something I don't love. I've had such great luck there. People are always giving away the most wonderful things. It's like a fun treasure hunt every time I go in!

  8. All these outfits are are so cute! I love your use of accessories and patterns. I think my favorite, though, is the first look. It has so many great details and the orange jacket is gorgeous. What a great find!

  9. So true! Whenever I need a pick me up of the shopping kind I know I can head to the goodwill and find something fab for the cash I have in my wallet. Love that orange jacket by the way!

  10. All of your Goodwill outfits are amazing! I've gone a couple of times and never found anything…maybe I need to go on a more regular basis. I'm really wanting a nice professional jacket for work. You look fantastic!

  11. Pam, you look absolutely fabulous in your outfits, especially the first one. I love the scarf and brooch accessories.

While I would love to find such wonderful things in the Goodwill, we just don't have those wonderful finds in our stores. However, I do find a lot of great buys in the 1/2 of 1/2 Name Brand Store. They have great sales and I have found things there that are not sold in local stores which make my finds more unique. They have a wonderful plus size selection.

You do inspire us to look beyond the usual retail outlets to find our looks for less. If thrift stores don't have what you want, go to consignment or off price stores to save money. Even retail stores such as Talbot's and Chico's have great sales so one doesn't have to spend a lot to look great.

  12. again you look marvelous in your polka dot outfit! i like the combination with red. your autunm decoration is also very beautiful!

  13. Oh Pam, you look so good in leopard. I hope that is getting regular rotation in your closet! Do you want to join Adrienne and me for 'How I Wear My: Burgundy and Bordeaux?' We'd love to have you join us again. I'm hosting this time so you can send me a picture by Oct. 1 if you have time. I would love to see you in those traditional fall shades, especially if it's something you picked up from Goodwill! XO, Jill

  14. Yes, shopping cheers me up, too! Finding a bargain? Why that's the cherry on the icing!
