It’s That Weekend….

Change over weekend! Clearing out weekend!
I do not have the luxury of a large closet where everything can hang. So the first or second weekend in October, I usually put away the obvious summer items and bring out the cooler weather clothes.  I started the process in September this year, but warm weather discouraged me and set the process back.

This year, I need to be courageous about decisions of what to keep and what to retire.  It is hard for me to send items to the donation pile. Since I began to work for Goodwill, the closet is packed with great jackets like the one I am wearing in the top picture.  But, I also have favorites like the green jacket in the second picture…it was a Chico’s purchase about 20 years ago!  But, there is just no room…so I must gut it up and get rid of some things I have not worn in a long time.  Sigh…so hard to make those decisions.

By the end of this three day weekend, I need to have things more under control. I may get lost under the pile, but I will let you know how it goes!

What are your plans for the weekend??  Have a fabulous one!  (Can you tell I like that red tank??)

  1. I really love that first jacket on you – such a great curve and line.

I have a hard time letting go, too, but lately I like to think about someone enjoying it more, because it's perfect for them. I really need to gut my closet and remember how good it feels to wear really special pieces that are exactly right in every way.

  2. I do the great switch over twice a year as well because of limited closet and drawer space. Isn't it a great opportunity to look over all of your clothes twice a year? If I'm not sure I want to part with something in October, I'm usually ready to give it up by April.

  3. I think we are all in the same boat. it is over 30ºc here too, so it is summer clothes and no autumn feeling at all, still the nights start getting cooler.
You look soooooooooooooooooo glorious in your GORGEOUSskirts.
Have a grand weekend, my dear Pam.

  4. I have to switch my closet over too! Mine could accommodate my whole wardrobe (at least what fits me now), but things tend to get a bit lost when I do that. Last year was my first time consiously "putting away" my summer clothes, and I found my liking for some items was renewed by not seeing them at all for a few months.

  5. Pam, you look gorgeous! I DO love the peep of red in both outfits!
It's funny that you mentioned changing over the closet….I spent 1/2 day yesterday doing the same thing. I have to streamline also, but like you, I find it difficult to let go. 🙁
    Have a terrific weekend!

  6. I feel your pain!!! I was able to "loan" some of my beloved pieces to my daughter and daughter-in-law this past week, thus effectively getting them out of my sight. It's one of the ways I work around my separation anxiety. Good luck with your purge. I'm sure you'll choose wisely since you always look great!!

  7. Living in Florida I miss so much the ritual of wardrobe reorganizing. No winter here and it's only when you don't have fall winter anymore that you realize how much it's pleasant to change attires when the season comes…
Good luck though. Enjoy the fall season:-)
    Cheers,
    Anne
