Fashion Foundations: Self-Confidence and Smiles

“All you really need is loads of self- confidence…and
a smile.”   Ines de la Fressange
I love this quote from Ines because I believe it to be so
true.  Really, you can wear and pull off
just about anything with self-confidence and a smile.  During my 40s, my self- esteem was in the
gutter. I allowed it to overshadow each clothing choice I made….my clothes sent
a strong message of “I DON’T CARE!”  And
I honestly believed because I was overweight, unhealthy, and exhausted I would
not look good in anything…even if Michael Kors walked into my house in person
and said he was there to dress me head to toe!!
I do not miss those days at all. But, the only thing that
has really changed is my attitude.  Oh
sure, I have lost a little weight; am on the road to a healthier me; and maybe
go to bed a little earlier…but overall,
I am still the same.  The biggest
difference is that now I am having fun with my fashion as opposed to beating
myself over the head with it.  I am
determined to have more positive thinking days than negative (notice I did not
try to convince you that I am 100% positive all of the time) and I am
determined to smile more than I frown.
Jacket and Skirt: Lane Bryant
Ralph Lauren Equestrian Blouse: Marshalls
Boots: Ross
Once I discovered how I react to my circumstances is my choice, I was able to turn it around.
Now, I can look at a great trend like EQUESTRIAN and really have a lot
of fun.
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!  Did anyone score big at sales the past few days?

  1. Such a great smile, and attitude. I agree so much with your post. I believe we are all a work in-progress and it is our attitude that defines success or not. If we don't accept ourselves as the best we can be at this time who will?

  2. You exude self confidence in that out outfit, you look ready to take on anything that comes your way. You look fabulous. I agree with all your other posted comments & just add, feeling good with yourself & attitude is the most important recipe for our inner self.

  3. The lovely Ines…such words of wisdom…and you, Pam look great, I love the equestrian style, it suits you.

  4. I love you in that jacket, skirt and boots. Yowza lady, looking smokin' hot! They had a 'coworker' sale at Bloomingdale's, with extra discounts in beauty and fragrance, so I sprung for the new Chanel mascara and some shimmery eyeshadow. I hope I can post about them soon. XO, Jill

  5. Love this look on you! Though we have never met in person, I can tell that you are a self-confident woman who feels great in her skin, believes in having fun with fashion and always wears a big smile!

  6. Pam- I'm so attached/fond of you! I feel every post you write- I can relate! Trying to be honest yet positive- and reach for inner confidence. It is showing on you- love your smile, as it lights up my day!

  7. The sales marketing is getting more and more offencsive to me as I am at the Malls. When I walk in a store and and they hit me with the every thing in the store is 30 percent off and if you buy two of our dresses you will get a coat for free etc etc I want to turn to the clerk and tell them how I have no interest in their sales gimmicks. I only want to shop in stores that have items that are priced reasonalbe according to ME and I am not into playing all kind of greedy games thinking gee I only like this one thing but if I buy six other things it will be so much cheaper. I do not say a word because the clerk is just there to keep his/her job and not change store policy. Listening to QVC last night they keep saying "BUY MORE SAVE MORE"….please….they have turned us onto gluttons of food with the supersize me and won so now we are supposed to be gluttons of material goods.

  8. I have been bгоwsing on-line more than thrеe
hourѕ as of late, but I never discοѵered any
    attentiοn-grabbing article liκе yours.
It's pretty value sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the net might be much more helpful than ever before.
