Of Puddles and Clearance Racks….

For eight hours yesterday….it rained…and it rained…and it rained…and it rained.

It rained so much, San Antonio was on the national news.  A huge portion of town was under water…homes destroyed…cars floated away…and three lives lost.

We really needed it after a long season of drought.  It is just sad that it all came at once.

On a brighter note though, I had planned to ask you about “clearance racks!”

I picked up this colorful print top last year in Target on clearance for $8!!  I like it and it is a perfect light weight for our warm summers.  I never let a clearance rack go unnoticed!  I often find a treasure or two from clearance.

Mr. B is the opposite.  He says that everything on a clearance rack is there for a reason…the fact that it is on clearance tells you that it was not wanted…by anyone. So, he runs from clearance racks…while I run toward them.

So, which are you?  A Mr. B clearance hater…or a Pam clearance lover??

Have a wonderful holiday and please remember to honor our troops on this Memorial Day!

I am linking up today with the wonderful ladies of MONDAY MINGLE!!

  1. I'm a Pam!!!. I love a good clearance rack, but I dislike thrift stores, garage sales, etc.

  2. It's good to see that you were unhurt by the flooding, but such a tragedy that lives were lost and properties destroyed. The weather seems to get more and more extreme – are we too late to even try reversing climate change?

I do look at sale racks. They're usually on sale just so the store has room for the next round. But I am trying to buy second-hand a lot more often – and that's even better than sale prices usually!

  3. Oh I always check the clearance rack and have found some great designer buys! It could be change of seasons, making room for more, only a few left in a certain size etc.

Bravo Pam I am with you!

  4. In all that rain, how did you manage to keep you hair frizz free? I adore the top and the flip-flops are great. From Florida, flip-flops are daily wear.

  5. Wow, that's a whole lot of rain! Rain is good, but too much and your car floats away, not so! Clearance rack browsing needs patience and I think our husbands lack of it when it comes to shopping. I had some great finds practicing my patience too and it feels better wearing them knowing I paid nothing for them! Hope the weather gets better where you are 🙂

  6. I love, love, love clearance racks and thrift stores! Thank goodness, so does my hubs! Makes shopping so much more fun – a great find and a great price!

  7. I heard about San Antonio on the news and happy to hear that you're safe.

The colorful print top is floaty and perfect for summer. I go for the clearance racks, Pam, and have found some treasures. Just like estate sales, there is always something precious that has been discarded by others.

  8. We could use some of your rain here. Nothing but sun and more sun…Love your top from Target! Great colors!
I'm a little scared to look at clearance racks; afraid that I'll purchase something just because of its great price and not because I love it or need it. I force myself to do it 🙂 (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)

  9. I'm a clearance lover. My husband is like yours, but partly it is because he is an odd shape and thus requires tailoring.

I'm so glad to know that you survived those tremendous rains.

  10. I am a big clearance shopper. However, I am learning to apply my rules of "do I love it" and "can I make several outfits with it with what I already have in my closet?" I've purchased some real duds in the past JUST because "it was ONLY $10.00!" lol I am always so jealous when I see on a blog that someone has purchased something fabulous from a thrift store. I have rarely been so lucky, clothing wise. I've thrifted some great household items, but rarely wardrobe. I keep trying though. My husband NEVER shops for himself, so he doesn't know where his clothes come from. They just appear in his closet. 😉
