Jenny Craig: Success One Bite at a Time!

Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.
-Tom Landry
During
my youth at home, Sundays in autumn were pretty much the same…
Go
to church….shrink down in the pew when my father snored during the sermon…
Go
home and eat a big lunch…usually beef or fried chicken, potatoes and beans…
Experience
a family argument on some level…always at the dining table.
Go
to my room and put on my Dallas Cowboys football jersey…
Then
watch the game with my family.

When
Tom Landry spoke, I listened.  His quote
above still rings true.   I have set all
kinds of weight loss goals.  But, consistency
is the key.  So far, two weeks on the JENNY CRAIG  meal plan and I have lost 3.3 pounds!  I know enough to know that if I stick with
this and remain consistent, I will achieve the success I desire.  But like all programs, there are “off”
days.  I had one of those last week.

In
the past week, I was in attendance at one luncheon featuring Southern cooking, one
hamburger joint luncheon, one fabulous wedding, and one fish fry.  I sat with a glass of ice tea at every event
but one.  Can you guess which one?  Well, it wasn’t the fabulous wedding…though I
did have to taste the cake.  The meal I gave
in to was the fish fry with roasted vegetables.
It was amazing!  My husband’s
fresh catch from the Gulf of Mexico.
And
despite that…I still lost 1.3 pounds for the week.(total to date, 3.3).  I got up the next morning and went right back
to the Jenny Craig meal plan!

So,
this is my plan.  When I fall down, get
back up again and stay on the plan! The past week I actually had Key Lime Pie and a Red Velvet Cupcake, both by Jenny…pretty close to that wedding cake!

I
just know Tom would be proud!

Have
a Fabulous Friday!

Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs per week.

  1. Good for you Pam! Congratulations on your SUCCESS!!! To have an off day is so normal, and I think encouraging to others who are trying to do what you are doing. Sometimes if you have an off day, you can start to think that no one else ever does, and it's just not true. Like you said above, the key is to continue on with your plan the next day and (just my opinion here) don't ever beat up on yourself for those very normal off days. I have always found that success is easier to achieve when I'm not depriving myself of things I enjoy now and then. At 3.3 lbs. in two weeks, you are ahead of the game! Great job and thanks for encouraging us! Karen

  2. Hi Shelley, My favorite dish? That's actually hard for me to say, because they are really very good. I love the beef and cheese slider, because it really tastes like a great hamburger. I also loved the seasoning on the Mesquite Chicken. I took one pasta dish and mixed it with mushrooms and onions like my coach suggested and it was delicious!! Sitting at those dinners with a glass of tea was surprisingly easy. I was into good conversation each time. Sometimes I think I eat only because the food is there and not because I am hungry! So, I made sure to focus on the people's faces and the words and not on what was on the table. It is getting easier. Great questions!

  3. Yes! It's about consistency and not allowing a small detour to completely derail you. And you need to sometimes enjoy those small detours. Congrats on the 3.3!

  4. Well done Pam… I do believe loosing weight is all about being kind to ourselves as well as self discipline… The trick is to let go sometimes but get right back on it straight after…
This is a new way of thinking for me… I always felt if I broke my diet then it was over and done with… Not so… It's also a long time frame of commitment…. results that stay off… not quick and easy, but back tomorrow…

Fantastic result and… you look gorgeous as always… Have a lovely weekend… xv

  5. I am not sure if my comment came through the first time?? I just wanted to say Well done Pam… that you look fab… and your philosophy is absolutely right… for my way of thinking…

    Have a wonderful weekend… xv

  6. So proud of you, Pam! You're looking fantastic! I blogged in my most recent post about my and husband's and my rededication to fitness this spring/summer. What a great feeling. It's worth the little sacrifices!

    Blessings,

  7. Hey Pam. Good news on the weight loss. You are on the right path. Try and think of it as a lifestyle change to wellness. And often times that means simple things to start so that it doesnt feel like total deprivation. Just eliminating soda both regular and diet will mean weight loss over time. So keep up with that one goal of replacing that soda with a healthier drink. once that goal is comfortably mastered – pick another goal. One of my favorites drinks in warm weather is water with fresh cucumber slices, a little lemon and some mint.

As for your day off – could it be the fish fry represented a time of sharing with your hubby? Food is associated with family and friends as it should be. Maybe in all the hustle and bustle, you were particularly missing that. And that is ok. Digging deeper and understanding our relationship with food is the key to long term success. It is practicing self care.

Cheering you on my dear and I can see the smile in your face over you success.

  8. Thank you for sharing Tom Landry's quote. My weight is a constant struggle for me, but I have also found that consistency is the key, and not beating myself up when there is an off day. You will do great! By the way, you look gorgeous in that outfit!

  9. Congrats! You're so brave. I have pretty much given up on trying to stick to a plan. The boyfriend is a vegan so that helps me a little. He has a juicer that he pulled out and we have been juicing lately. I'm also walking more. I would love to be my old size 4 again. I really miss it but….I am desperately trying to be happy in my present body (one reason for my blog). I am really happy for you. Can't wait to hear more success stories!!!

  10. Hi Pam. I am a daily reader of your blog, and I wish you well on your weight loss journey. It is never easy. I wonder if you are familiar with a movie called "Fed Up" which documents the relationship between the food industry, government and obesity. I saw it last night and thought of you and Jenny Craig. I think you would find it informative and relevant. Wishing you good health and wellness.
