Two cute boys…One exhausted grandma!

The memories flood back immediately…just how much work it is
when two little ones are in the house.
The new baby is not even a week old and it has taken three of us to
replace the hands of one daddy, back working overseas.  There literally is no time for anything but
our toddler grandson and his new brother.
Mommy is still recovering. Toddler brother is overwhelmed with so many changes.
  My
husband spent all day yesterday downtown with the baby and our daughter
navigating a passport so they can travel in a couple of weeks to their new
home.  The passport office workers said
he was the smallest one they had ever accommodated.
Sleeping has, for the most part, stopped…eating my healthy
diet meal plan, stopped…morning exercise, stopped…and wouldn’t you know it…when
things are the craziest, and I feel like I look my worst,  other exciting opportunities show up on the
horizon…
You will have to come back tomorrow.  For now, I hear a newborn beginning to stir…
If you are a grandmother who helps out regularly with the
kids, I highly respect you…and your energy levels.   Any advice?

Happy Saturday, all !

  1. So adorable! I wish I knit that hat – love it.

As for the rest of what you can't do? Who care?? That little guy is worth all of it, and SO much more.

Congrats to all. How exciting. Gosh, I miss those little ones.

  2. OMG, he is so cute! Congratulations! My children are still at university but one day…
I couldn't have managed without my parents and my children's other grandma when they were babies – and not only then 😉

  3. I know exactly how you feel. I have two grandsons, 4 and 18 months and another on the way. It is exhausting. I spend a lot of money at the osteopaths attempting to keep my back in good condition.

  4. Congratulations! I watch my 2 yr. old grandson 5 days a week, seven hours a day while my daughter is in school. I forgot how exhausting it can be, and of course being older now does make a difference. Love the time I get to spend with him ( despite the occasional tantrum), I know this won't last forever and they may be moving soon. Take care of yourself!

  5. The time passes so quickly. Those early days of sleep deprivation and lack of time will be replaced by memories of how wonderful the first days were. I envy you. My darling granddaughter is now six and I look back on the early days as the most precious moments of my life. If my diet and routine suffered, I don't remember. I only remember the sweet child whom I was privileged to share and who has become a lovely little girl. Enjoy every moment.

  6. What a sweet baby and how special that one of your students knitted that hat for him. No tips for you – my grandchildren wear me out, too. Just enjoy the special time you have with them. It's gone way too soon.

  7. I was 38 when I had my one and only…moved one month before from NYC to rural country life, and had no help/family at all. We were exhausted ….. Your daughter is SO lucky to have you!!!
