In the Midst of Midlife Changes: Destination…My Backyard

I don’t have to take a trip around the world or be on a yacht in the Mediterranean to have happiness. I can find it in the little things, like looking out into my backyard and seeing deer in the fields.

I think one of the hardest things about mid-life is dealing with change.  Businesses change hands…new leaders with new vision take over…children grow and leave…friends move on or pass on…families change…new opportunities abound and at times are overwhelming. The good news is despite all that… my joy is still there…my passions are still there… but, sometimes…we just need the peace of our own backyard.  I am going to take time off for Mother’s Day….see you on Sunday evening!
Have a fabulous Friday!

What do you plan to do this weekend?

  1. I SO agree with this Pam! My backyard is my sanctuary and I love being out there in the evenings after a long day at work and on the weekends – all day! This weekend I'll be spending some time Saturday with my sister and my mom (mom's birthday and Mother's Day) and then Sunday will be my day to just kick back with a book, a beverage, and something on the grill for dinner. My son and daughter-in-law who live locally will stop by, my son who is 4 hours away will call, and that will make my day complete. Glorious weather…my kids…doesn't get better than that for Mother's Day! Karen

  2. Pam I so agree in taking in the little beauties of life!!
This weekend Isabella will be with me and she has a concert at her high school and then Sunday all of the siblings are bringing brunch to Mom and Dad's. My daughter will pick up Isabella and spend some time!!

  3. Have a lovely Mother's Day Pam and enjoy your special weekend.
I so agree, with you, it's the little things…you don't have to travel millions of miles to see the joy of what is right in front of you…it's noticing it, that's the important thing xx

  4. Fantastic sentiments. Indeed it is the everyday things that make the biggest impact on our lives. There is so much going on midlife that it is important to have time to gather one's thoughts and re adjust. My garden is my refuge – a form of green meditation. Warm regards

  5. Happy Mother's Day Pam! I have no backyard so I have to sit on the stoop. Unfortunately this means it's practically a social occasion because there's nowhere to hide! One of the sometimes-not-great things about living in NY. I envy you your backyard. Enjoy it! xx
