Work Wear for Women over 50: Look Cool In the Summer

The heavy rain has stopped and the heat is settling in…we are back in the 90s.  In South Texas, the climb to 100 is just around the corner.  Heat does make dressing professionally a challenge, so I am so glad to  have great options from Chico’s.

History says the legendary Coco Chanel believed the ideal wardrobe included elements of black & white; good shoes; plenty of dresses; polish; simplicity; and well fit clothes.  I agree on all counts.  I love black and white outfits for work…so chic and perfect for a professional touch.  This Chico’s top and jacket in antique white are lightweight and summer fresh.  The top falls so nicely and is very flattering.  Check out the links below for more information.

I have worn the necklace about three times and always get compliments.  It is a beautiful statement piece…elegant to go from work to dinner out.  Chico’s jewelry has not disappointed me…in all the years I have shopped there.  Remember, if you are in a hot climate…necklaces are better this time of year than a scarf.  Keeping cool is a priority for me!
As the heat goes up, these Chico’s pieces will come out.  It is more important than ever to be taken seriously and communicate savvy strength.  For those of you in the work world, consider the Black Label line for summer work attire!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

  1. I have always been drawn to black and white and have a lot of it. Great look Pam! I am always looking for options for my professional life, at least for a couple more years. : )

  2. In summer, I look at a garment's fiber content before I look at the price tag. If it's not 100% cotton, silk or other breathable fiber, I pass! Synthetic fabrics look nice but feel yucky in high humidity and heat.

  3. That necklace is amazing. I wear scarves in the summer for extra sun protection for my neck and shoulders. This is the time for washable scarves made of synthetic fabrics. Sunblock stains wash out of synthetics more easily. That's another reason for me not to wear necklaces in summer. It gets into the crevices of jewelry. 🙁

  4. Great look! I'm fair so I choose off white for tops. I do love a black pant and have a pair of light-weight cropped pants for summer.

  5. Black and white always looks good! A standby for sure. The outfit looks great on you! I think the top would be too short for me though. Since I have gained weight structured blazers just don't look right on me. My chest is just too large. 🙁 Luckily there are tons of other options!

  6. The black and white looks so sharp and professional. But what do you do about white sleeves/cuffs at the end of the day? I'm a writer/editor tied to my computer and I fear the sleeves of that white jacket would go dirty gray on me. Is it washable? What do you do about keeping white looking perky?

  7. I also am a writer, and it was fine at the end of the day. It is washable and I use OxyClean for my whites. But, I use the hand wash cycle on my washer. I hope that helps!

  8. You can't go wrong with black and white, I love the jacket! I love all of there jewelry too.
Yikes 90's. Here in Philly we have a Canadien cold front and thunderstorms. It's chilly:(

  9. Lovely outfit. When I click the Chico's jacket link, it takes me to a different looking jacket, though–pleated front, no low pockets and Optic White, rather than Antique white. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
