Eileen Fisher: Afternoon Wedding Wear for Women Over 50

Last weekend, we attended an afternoon wedding at the beautiful HOTEL VALENCIA ON THE RIVERWALK and I decided (for this women well over 50) I would go with Eileen Fisher from Dillards.

This jacket and dress were purchased at Dillards recently during the reveal of the Eileen Fisher new collection.  I love pieces like this.  I can make it work for a wedding, a business function, a luncheon, and, of course, mix both garments up with others for many different styles.  It is the beautiful quality which make them both appropriate for many dressing functions. And that justifies the cost for me…I will wear them often, they fit beautifully, I feel very confident in both, and I need to have a certain public persona now that I edit a well known local magazine.  I have very few garments like this in my closet but it is worth the investment for me to own a select few.

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

The hotel is a stunning celebration of beautiful neutrals and color.  I am always inspired by the decor and settings around me.  It’s a great way to get ideas for outfit combinations.

Also, outside of the hotel was the annual chalk art celebration…. when downtown San Antonio streets are turned into artistic splendor!

What do you like to wear to an afternoon wedding this time of year?  Please share your ideas!

Keep Smiling!

  1. You look beautiful as always and again I find myself wishing we had a Dillard's in the Philly area. It is my go to favorite place to shop when I go to Florida to visit my Mom.
    The venue is really pretty too.
    My father was an artist and I always enjoyed when he participated in the sidewalk chalk art.

  2. You are right on about Eileen Fisher. Worth the investment. Clothes last for years. Whenever I wear them, I feel confident that I'm well tailored and smart looking. You look just right for a wedding–and for any other functions. I never invested in one of her skirts, but it looks great on you with that jacket. have to check it out.
    Enjoy editing the local magazine. Must be fun.
