My Daily Make Up Routine Over 50

Here it is….my morning makeup routine.  I know it’s a mess!   I spend the most time and money on my skincare and makeup in an effort to look my youthful and healthy best over 50.  I am honored to be someone who gets to test and write about products for all of you.  There are some which stick around my routine and become a regular part of my life.  So, for today and tomorrow, I am going to share with you what I wear every single day.  Today, we will talk about the face products, and tomorrow the eye.  I know these products are sold in many stores, but I am linking to Amazon today because I buy many of them on Amazon.

I begin every morning with Jane Iredale Circle Delete Concealer.  I have tried many excellent products, but this is one which covers my dark circles the best and I believe it the healthiest for that area of my face.  If you research Jane Iredale, I think you will be impressed.

Step #2…I have used Bobbi Brown foundation for years, but just began using this foundation in a serum form recently…and I love it.  It is lighter, brighter, and does not settle into the wrinkles around my mouth (as the hearvier ones had begun to do)  I highly recommend it for those of us seasoned ladies!  Check out Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum.

Step #3 ….I do sweep Bobbi Brown illuminating  bronzeing powder across my brow,  the sides of my face into just underneath the cheeks, and underneath my chin and top of the neckline….then lightly down my neck and the chest. Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Poweder

Step #4….Next, I tap the apples of my cheeks with  Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks…stays on all day, and makes the color of my eyes stand out more and, yes, is good also for ips.  Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks

I set all of this with one of my favorite products ever…which I was introduced to, about three years ago at a blogging conference.  Yves St. Laurebt Souffle De Eclat…it is a very light, bright, finishing powder. It does not look like powder at all, but you will love how it looks on your skin and a little goes a long way.  I ordered this jar from Amazon and have made only a small dent in a year.  I highly recommend! YSL Souffle de Eclat

I use a Bobbi Brown Blending Bruch to blend it all smoothly together.  Bobbie Brown Brush Se

Now, my very favorite lip color is also a YSL product…their lip stain.  I like it best of all on my aging lips and it keeps color on their all day long…also, there is no high gloss which I am over….personally.  YSL Lip Stain….

As I write this out, it seems really involved.  But, I have done this for so long, it takes about five minutes to do it all….next we will talk eyes…hope to see you then.

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. Thank you so much for all the detailed information—it is so helpful to hear what is tried and true for someone. Some of these products can be costly and while one person’s experience cannot work for everyone, it helps to have a place to start!

  2. You are so right, Deborah. It took me a long time to test products out before I arrived at this. Also, many of these last a long time! Thanks for your comment.

  3. Very interesting information. One question I have about the bronzer that also applies to foundation and any sort of tinted moisturizer. When you say you sweep it under your chin, does this every transfer onto white collars? I use a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation and never put it under my chin for that reason. How do you avoid color transfer? Looking forward to the eye makeup. My own routine is very much eye-centered rather than face-centered!

  4. I brush it along my jaw line, neck and chest and I have not had any problems with it since I switched brands. I brush it on very lightly and so far it has not been a problem. But, I did have that problem in the past so I understand what you are dealing with. I hope that helps. Thanks Karen.
