Fashion Over 50: Monthly Style Tip for January

Happy Friday, everyone!  It is the first Friday of the month and time for our style tip of the month for January 2018.  For good reasons, many of us are focused on the weather.  My heart goes out to those in the east.  But even though it is much milder here, we have gone long periods of time without sun….very cloudy and dreary. So, my style tip for January is to escape the dreary weather with pops of color.  Have fun with accessories… though the world is grey and many winter fashions are heavy into neutrals.  A very sweet young lady gave me this Anthropologie scarf for Christmas and I love the vibrant colors! It actually has my initial in the middle of the square.  I will wear this scarf all year long, but it definitely works now!  Whether it is scarves or jewelry or shoes, color can brighten your spirits during the winter.  You can see I  was also wearing a deep green, V-neck sweater.Go through your closet this weekend, and look for ways to add a touch of vibrant color to your styles this month.  It might help you feel warmer and smile more…there are also some great ideas below. So have a happy Friday and as always….

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. Love that scarf! Anthropologie has such fun things! The pop of color is perfect on any day, dreary or not and it looks great against the darker colors you are wearing. The bracelet is a great choice with that scarf. You actually have leaves on the trees there, and green plants…wow…

  2. Great tip! I live in San Antonio and we really miss the sun when hiding so many cold days! Adding pops of color is an excellent idea!love your blogs by the way!

  3. I love the way a pop of color makes your outfit look! Thanks for the suggestions!!

  4. I love seeing a smaller scarf. Large scarves have been the norm for several years and they tend to overwhelm me. I have several small ones and it’s great to see one in use.

  5. I haven’t worn a smaller scarf in a long time and I really like the look…so I think I will do this more often. Thanks Jane.

  6. I know our winter isn’t really winter by the definition of what you face, Karen. I am happy to get some cold since it gets so hot soon. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Hi Susan, The bracelet is from a retailer no longer in business (sadly, some good ones have had to leave) and the ring is from Stein Mart. I tend to find accessories all over the place.
