Fashion Over 50: You Feel Confident When???

Last week, we began a discussion about the three adjectives you want your clothing to say about you (before we were rudely interrupted by computer issues).  We had great participation, and that post can be read HERE. The majority of you said you wanted your clothing to say that you are CONFIDENT.

So, I asked a few women I know, to fill in this sentence

I FEEL CONFIDENT IN THE OUTFIT I AM WEARING WHEN _____________________________________________________________________________

I loved hearing some of these answers:

  1. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it fits well and makes me look smaller.
  2. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it reflects my personality.
  3. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it does not look frumpy.
  4. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it does not make me look old.
  5. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it looks stylish.
  6. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it looks happy.

These are just a few of the answers. I feel confident in the two outfits I am wearing here, because I believe they make me look slimmer, intelligent, strong, current, and approachable.

Confidence is so important. We can do almost anything when we feel confident from the outside to the inside. So, I ask you to fill in this sentence…

“I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when ______________________________________”

Can’t wait to read your answers!

KEEP SMILING, AND STAY CONFIDENT!

  1. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing, when it fits well and the colours flatter my complexion and hair.

  2. I feel confident in the outfit I’m wearing today. It reflects my image as a professional woman who is intelligent, helpful and approachable. I always feel confident in the outfit I’m wearing when it is well thought out, fits perfectly and is appropriate for the activity I’m involved in. I LOVE that green and black jacket you are wearing Pam, that’s gorgeous!

  3. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing when it is comfortable, stylish, and is appropriate for the event/place where I will be. Thanks for showing picture of you wearing the leopard pants. I wear lots of leopard tops, but was not sure if leopard print would look okay as pants since I am hippy and have large thighs.

  4. This is the Juliet Pant from Chico’s. Do not know if it is still available in leopard but it is a great fitting pant…and I am hippy! I feel very confident and comfortable when I wear them. Thanks Shirley!

  5. I feel confident in the outfit I am wearing when it is comfortable and well-made. A well-made garment doesn’t need to be expensive but it is worth spending a bit more to have a piece of clothing that will last and wear well.

  6. I feel confident in an outfit when it fits well, is comfortable, & is appropriate for my lifestyle. Any outfit that needs a lot of adjusting to keep it looking “just so” does not make me feel comfortable or confident. The right accessories can also give my confidence a big boost.

  7. I do not feel confident when I have to mess with an outfit to make it lay or fit right. So I know what you mean, Becky.

  8. So many of the responses included “when the color of the outfit looks good on me.” I would like to have a professional do a thorough color testing on me. Do you know of one in San Antonio that I could schedule a session.

  9. Let me do some research Esther and I will get back with you. There are some out there. I worked with one at the Soft Surroundings at La Cantera and I will find out how to get in touch with her. Stay tuned….

  10. I feel confident in an outfit when the whole package (hair, makeup, clothes, accessories) successfully walks the fine line between updated classic and over-the-top in accessorizing, which therefore expresses the real me! It sounds like a tall order, but since I know “me” so much better than I used to, it actually gets easier every year. Self-knowledge=confidence=fashion.

  11. Love your formula, Linda! I agree…it takes the whole package. It took me awhile to get to know me better, but once I did the confidence issue was easier.

  12. I feel confident when my outfit fits me well, makes me look slim and is comfortable. If I look good but don’t feel comfortable (either with the fit or style) then it’s not for me.

  13. Comfort seems to be important for almost everyone who has commented, Linda. Thanks so much.

  14. I feel confident when *I* like the clothes I wear. Usually quirky and fun. That’s when I feel most “me”. But not a lot of people understand “me” so I sometimes might come off as something different than I am. I’m learning not to care what other’s think and be me. 🙂
