  1. Love the slim but not skinny flair jeans.
The golden squash color is nice & they look like a mid rise so would be comfortable when sitting.
Wish my legs were still long & lean like hers though lol
The blouse is pretty looks like a simple shell or short sleeve the fabric & color is a little dressy for the pants but a nice change from a jersey.
Between the top & jewelery it draws the eye up to the face.
I wouldn’t wear all the necklaces because I don’t like heavy things on my neck prefer a small gold or silver chain
No on the cape/ poncho/drape because it’s too much flappy blanket. I’d end up annoyed with it falling off my shoulders a fitted jacket is more my style.
It’s a nice casual “meet you for lunch” outfit.
I’d wear the jeans & top with short boots & a different jacket.

  2. It looks absolutely lovely on her but most of us are not long and lean. At 5’2″ this outfit would overwhelm me. I am not a fan of the flaired leg on the pant. I love the wrap but would need something more scaled down for this vertically challenged body! I don’t like the jewelry choice. Looks like she couldn’t decide on which to wear so she decided to wear it all.The top is nice. So, with a few tweaks, I would wear this outfit.

  3. I love the color combo. I would wear this to work. One neckless not both. It is casual enough that I would feel very comfortable in it. Yes, this is my style.

  4. I would not wear this one. The color palette doesn’t work for me. Everything seems too much. Too much flare in the pants, too much bulk with the necklace, too much material with the cape. For a much taller person, I can see it working. Even with the availability of petite sizes, some things just don’t suit a smaller frame. To me it’s overwhelming. I kind of like the glasses. I think there is a reason that models are most typically tall and reed thin. We need to be mindful of our own shape and size when choosing. My dressing room mantra is, “just because it is your size doesn’t mean you should wear it.” I’ve become very discerning, and know this would just not work for me.

  5. I would were a modified version of this outfit. I love the color combo, the accessories, the variety of textures. A more subtle flare on the pant leg, eliminate the fringe on the wrap and I’m all in! Fun look!

  6. I would wear it all! I’m tall but not as lean. I love flared pants that balance my hips. Unexpected color with coordinated jewelry combined with black and charcoal, now that’s fashion. I loved ruanas and the fringe, now that’s fun. I would change the toe peeping sandals to boots. You made a good Part 4 choice, Pam.

  7. It’s a very, very attractive outfit and well-thought-out (which appeals to me). The color combos are great and I love the jewelry ensemble, but the flared trouser would make me feel self-conscious – perhaps a slim leg in the same color. (I’ve heard wide-leg trousers are coming back, which makes me cringe.) I have a few ruanas and love them – they are perfect to just throw on when a coat/jacket is too much.

  8. I think the look on the model is very chic but I wouldn’t wear it. I’m also too short and small and would be swallowed up by the cape and the jewelry. I’m not really a fan of bell-bottoms–a trend that I think should stay buried in the seventies! Finally I don’t wear anything made from an animal so suede is a definite no for me. I believe we can dress ourselves without inflicting undue harm on animals.

  9. Love it! I always wear black pants so this is a nice switch, putting black on the top. The flair is a bit too big for me and makes the outfit too trendy. I don’t like to look like a 60 year old shopping at Forever 21. Wouldn’t it be great if these pants had some percentage of elasticity in them? I could sit down and they would still cover my backside. Great top, great cape, fabulous jewelry! I could wear this for a few seasons and still look hip (now that totally gives away my age).

  10. I would wear everything but the pants. I do not like the color and with my lumpy bumpy body a black pair of pants creating a column of color would suit me much better.

  11. I love this outfit! I love the colors, the flared pants and the beautiful cape. I’m 5’11” so the flared pants will work for me and because I’m an apple shape the cape will hide my bulges in my upper half and it looks swingy and comfortable. The necklaces are too heavy for me, they’d bug me so I’d wear just one of them and be comfortable. And I agree with the comment above that boots would be better! Overall I LOVE it!

  12. I would wear the cape for sure, I am only 52 but wear them often. Proportion is everything. Like the top but definitely not the pants. Not the style not the colour. Would wear this outfit with black slim pants. Love the jewellery but would probably wear less.

Thanks for keeping us up to date,Pam.

  13. I really like the outfit, but I would need to find pants in the same color, but straight leg. The necklaces look great and I love the cape. I live in a cold climate and wear a lot of wraps like that.

  14. I love the colours but not the flare of the pants. Love the cape,I wear them all the time. Looking forward to the next Would you wear it.

  15. No, I don’t want to go back to bell bottoms ever. The color combination is interesting though. I agree with Connie.

  16. I’d wear it — some of it — if modified. I teally like the colors & patterns of the top against the beautifully colored pants. Can’t tell from the photo I’d there is a jacket underneath the wrap. There’s too much going on, here, for me.

I’d wear: the top and jacket, remove the long necklace with the horn, swap for a smaller wrap for better proportion for my height, swap for different shaped sunglass frame. Most importantly swap the pants from what looks like suede to a more comfortable fabric and a different shaped leg. Even if the pants would fit me, the dramatic flare looks like it’s straight out of the 1970s. I wouldn’t want to look like I’d pulled them out of my deep storage.

  17. With a few minor changes, I would wear this. I like the cape & top. I would delete one of the necklaces. I like the color of pants but could do without the bell bottoms. I wore them as a teenager, so I’m really not wanting to revisit them at this stage in my life. I recently saw a little blurb on capes & ruanas which highlighted how they can change the look & feel of a simple outfit.

  18. Ponchos and capes are my Look right now as I have a huge cast on my arm.I love this color combination and I am happy to see style choices that are not skinny pants or leggings.I also love the large jewelry,I

  19. In my next life when I look like Gisele Bundchen and am 6′, I would so wear this, with some tweaks. I don’t like the disconnect between the mustard and silver/black top, and would choose more conservative grey/black pants. I also don’t like the necklaces. They are big and heavy and I have never liked ‘fang’ tooth pendants. That’s how I would tweak for Virginia, but I would wear as-is if I were in Paris! Alas, I am 5’2″ and this will never be worn in this lifetime!

  20. I love the color of the pants, it’s a color I saw a lot in Paris last fall-the extreme flare maybe not so much. (The pants were flared in Paris but cropped and worn with boots, a cute look!) I’d remove one necklace, the stiff looking horn one. Love the tops and the ruana, I’d keep those. I’m 5’9, so I think it’s a very wearable outfit!

  21. I love the colors. I love the color of the pants, but I could not wear them because I am too short. I like the top, the don’t mind the fringe. And I like both necklaces, on her

  22. Love the overall look of this ensemble on the tall, thin model! However, I wouldn’t/couldn’t wear the pants in that color; should be black or grey for a tonal look since I’m 5’4″. Would delete the shorter necklace also. Like the pattern/texture of the top but Ruana would be overwhelming tho I like the fringe. Smart, classy looking outfit.

  23. I would wear the top and cape but would wear black pants and boots. Don’t care for the pants color at all and agree with others to leave the flares back in the 70s!

  24. love the sweater and cape, but not a fan of large bell-bottom pants. They just are not the right shape for my shape. I prefer a straight pant.

  25. Love the top. Hard to tell much about it, but the print is lovely. Hate the cape — always have hated capes, so this reaction is not to this one — but the fringe brings to mind a stadium blanket. The pant color is OK, but they’re too long and too 1960s.

  26. I’m not ready for bell bottoms again, but other than that, I would wear this outfit in a heartbeat! I’d likely change out the sandals for a pair of booties though as this looks like something I’d wear on a cool day.

  27. I would wear it all, minus the giant flare on the pants. The colors are delicious and classic. I love it all.

  28. YES! YES! YES! I would wear it all! The colors are perfect, the jewelry is stunning, and the whole outfit could be mixed and matched with other mediums as well as jeans for a casual look. You have a winner there Pam! Love, love, love this look!

  29. I like it all! I like going out of my box occasionally! The pants are just flares which are becoming to most shapes. You eyes go to the suede pants instead of our waistline (or lack thereof) . The top is neutral enough to go with other outfits so that is a plus to me. And the ruana is divine! I love the fringe! ( and so versatile) I have 3, and I am considering buying more. I kinda have to agree on the jewelry. I like statement pieces but I would probably skip the shorter one. Especially with hoop earrings.

  30. Bell-bottoms; I could not come up with that name until I read through the comments. Oh yes, I remember them well! I did think I looked great in them, but then I was in my 20s.

Lots of comments about the unusual color of the pants. Why, or why do we always want to blend in; why? Are we so fearful to venture out of our “comfort zone.” I like the color of the pants–it’s different; it noticeable. What have we got to lose? Frankly, I do not want to fade into the background. I’ll be six feet under in the not too distant future–then I’ll really own the background!

I always, always wear a boot cut pant; this cut balances my body shape )pear). Or, I wear a slightly wider trouser dress pant for the same reason.

Do not think I would ever wear bell bottoms again, but I can imagine! I also can “dream” that my height is actually four inches greater than my reality.

To me, the model’s look appears to be Parisian, or at the very least, NYC or Los Angeles. Especially, the large, round, framed sunglasses. Is she also wearing a black-banned, large round-faced watch? That’s also very Parisian.
    The model looks terrific.

  31. I love it all! The flow is great and the subtle nod to the fashion style of my youth makes me smile. I’ll definitely be looking for similar pieces to create my own version.

  32. Love reading the comments and their specifics. In general, petite women just can’t wear capes, bell bottoms, and scads of jewelry. Too much fabric is overwhelming and therefore unattractive. Your “thanks” comments are unnecessary and break the flow of opinions from your readers.

  33. Thank you Cassandra…I appreciate your opinion. I just want to acknowledge everyone and let them know I appreciate their participation. I think it is the hospitable thing to do. But, if others agree with you. I will stop. If I could write a thank you note, I would. I appreciate your comment and you being here as well.

  34. Everything about this outfit is big, bold and exaggerated. That being said, I would reinvent the look for myself because I do love the color combination. I would wear the pants as a pair of skinny jeans tucked into a pair of stylish rider boots. I like the pattern of the top, but would wear it as a silky shell or a tee. I would finish the look with a stylish ruana or long flowing topper–maybe even a rich, dark brown or chestnut colored moto jacket. I might add a chic hat and a smaller version of the glasses.

  35. I love the outfit, but… Good reasons: I’m too short to wear flared pants. The poncho is too much weight and bulk for a short person. The jewelry is gorgeous, but too heavy. Love the top and I like where it hits the hips. Love the color palette, too. Quirky reasons: Ponchos are dangerous. They get caught in elevator and car doors. Flare cuffs make too much noise when you’re walking. I don’t like all that attention focused on me. Heavy, long jewelry is sure to dip into my dinner plate or get caught on a door handle.

    Fun post! Love this theme!

  36. I love the combination of colors and textures. This exact look would overwhelm me. However, I could adapt the concept with items I have in my closet – straight leg pants in chestnut, black print top, and cape. I,love the statement jewelry.

  37. Firstly I really like the colour combination and the fabric textures and the model looks great but I wouldn’t wear any of the pieces in this outfit, because:
    I don’t like bell-bottoms on me,
I can’t fully tell what the top is like,
the poncho would overwhelm my frame,
the jewellery is too bold and gold.
What sort of shoes is she wearing?

  38. Hi Julie…she is wearing a sandal. Toes exposed…not sure why since this is a winter outfit.

  39. I love this outfit! I think it’s very chic, stylish, fun and appropriate for an older woman to stand out. She looks confident, not trying to look 30 years younger.
I wouldn’t wear it exactly “as is,” but would take away the main elements of the colored pants, black ruanna, patterned top and layered necklaces. I love how the top necklace picks up the color from the pants. I think the color of the pants is a more important element than the flair (which I don’t care for.)Wearing black pants would make this outfit look older and conservative. I can see more women loving this color combo with black pants and the color in a jacket or coat.

  40. I love this outfit but because of my height 5’2) I probably wouldn’t wear the wrap but the top and jewelry would be good. The pants would be a nice addition to my wardrobe- a basic color that would pair well with lots of other tops. I would pair it with a cardigan or fitted jacket that doesn’t overwhelm me.

  41. Love it and yes I would wear it. I would probably have the pant legs tapered a bit, but otherwise, Love it all the way. It’s funny, I’ve worn the bell bottoms back in the day and they are back. The circle of life. Amazing.

  42. Happy to see another “would you wear it?”! These are fun – love reading all the comments, too! If this outfit was coming home with me, the only things I’d change would be to lose the choker (not my style, really – I usually am an earrings/bracelet gal!) and maybe trim down the flare on those pants! Love boot cut/flares, but these remind me of the old high school days! We called them “Palazzo pants” or “elephant ears” back in the day! Oh the 70’s were so awesome! Great music and apparently the styles are coming back, too! 🙂

  43. I love the look, nor sure if I would wear the flair pants. I would wear the flair pants as long as I was made up with a great hair style and makeup.
