Would You Wear It #13

Happy Saturday…and welcome to Would You Wear it?  This is where you tell fashion professionals how you feel about what is on the market right now.  Please explain your answers and do not just say Yes or No.  Today let’s look mainly at the floral dress.   Thinking of spring?  So, let us know, ladies,

WOULD YOU WEAR IT???

Just A Note:  I will take a rare day off blogging tomorrow to celebrate a special day for my faith and family.  Yes, grandchildren are back in town and need some GIGI time.  Make sure you enter to win the $100 Gift Card to Sears (can be used online)…it was in THIS POST.    Until I see you Monday

  1. I would not wear this. I don’t like the neckline nor do I like the shape of the dress. I know the “off the shoulder” look is trendy, but I have never embraced this one. The floral here is overwhelming. The length is not flattering in that it looks frumpy on a straight style. If the dress was fuller, it might work. Again, designed for a stick figure. When will they get a clue that a lot of us are shaped like women? This is not to say overweight, but shapely. I’ve just never liked column dresses.

  2. What a disappointment this floral dress is. I am in agreement with Karen Anderson’s comment. Also, I know some teens that could wear this style but wouldn’t go for that particular floral print.

  3. The neckline would require a strapless or no bra—uncomfortable to me. I almost always wear a 3rd piece topper and the ruffle would interfere with that look. Plus ruffles and large florals do not appeal to me. The tightness through the middle of the body would not look good on this size 12 body. So, no, I would not wear this.

  4. The neckline of the dress looks like two designers who could not agree. I don’t like the colors and size of the flowers with the background color.
The material of the pants looks very thin and would show cellulite.
I love long cardigans/vests, but this one looks like an after thought.
Looks like I will save money this week to apply towards next week’s ” Would You wear It?”

  5. I think the whole dress looks like it was designed by two designers who did not agree. Ruffly, sexy, off-the-shoulder combined with a conservative waist and frumpy length. My arms are no good for an off-the-shoulder dress. I pass on this one.

  6. No, I don’t like the dress. It is too busy and the flowered pattern looks more like an old fashioned curtain. Besides that, only a very young woman could get away with wearing something like that.

  7. Well, I love the look of that dress, and if I had the figure now that I had at 40 yrs. or younger, I would wear it in an heartbeat, strapless bra and all (hate those things!). However, at nearing 70 and with ‘disguising the muffin top’ concerns, well. No, I would look silly in this but I won’t say that I don’t admire it. Even if I had a flat stomach at the present time, I would not feel comfortable in it, as would feel like “mutton dressed up as lamb”. Cute for the slender, younger set!

  8. Hi again – on a new topic. I don’t think you should feel the need to blog seven days a week. So no apologies for taking tomorrow off. I’ve thought for a while that your production is pretty amazing. Five days a week would be fine. I promise to not go away!

    Many thanks.

  9. I would not wear either outfits. The floral dress is just too much print for me and it just feels old to me even though it has the current trends going on. It would take a pretty svelte figure too! The blouse is boxy and very blah color to me. Jeans are light colored and I think that color is best on the young crowd. These outfits fit the mannequins for a reason…unrealistic figures!! Enjoy these segments!

  10. I love the floral pattern but as most have said not the design of the dress. If it were a fit and flare or a sheath dress I would wear it. Would have to do a lot more workouts in the gym to wear this particular dress.

  11. I would not wear this dress, florals appeal to me less and less as I get older, although I do like the colors of the dress, just not the pattern. I have never been comfortable in an off-the-shoulder style, too much exposure. And the ruffles are just a little too frilly for me. I do like the column skirt and the length. I would not wear the other outfit either, the pants fabric looks too thin and I don’t like the color or style of the blouse. The color is too pale and would wash me out & the high neckline would not be flattering or comfortable on me.

  12. I love this dress and would buy it and wear it in a heartbeat if there wasn’t a spaghetti strap on one side. (I wish the ruffled neck was the same on both sides or at least a strap that would hide a bra strap.) I’ve yet to find a strapless bra at 58 yrs old and a 42D that looks good on me. The flowers scream spring to me… in a good way.

  13. I would not wear it. I’m in the minority in that I do like the print. However I do not like the style of the dress, especially the neckline. I don’t like the mix of styles. I feels more like a mistake, than purposefully asymmetrical.

  14. I like the print and colors n the dress. I think the fabric looks nice but that is about all I like. I would NEVER wear a dress of this style. I do not like the length. I do not care for either shoulder/arm design as I prefer sleeves. Also the addition of the belt seems wrong. To me it seems too heavy on a feminine design. Perhaps a thin belt would look better.

  15. Very mixed feelings about this dress. The top is confusing — there is way too much going on with the ruffle, off the shoulder, spaghetti strap. However, I do like the print and I do like the length. If this dress had a simple v-neck or scoop neck I think it would be lovely. And, I do like the belt.

  16. I would not feel comfortable in this dress. Not crazy about the way the top is made and the length wouldn’t work for me because I am on the shorter side. I like the material, just not on this dress.

  17. I wonder how manufacturers make money putting out this stuff that would flatter only one percent of the population (I am solidly in the 99 percent). I went shopping today … hit Jjill, Talbots and Chico’s and came home empty handed, absolutely overwhelmed by the pastels and florals; all of it is just too jelly bean this year for my black/khaki/red/navy aesthetic. Every.single.detail is over the top. Flowers, pastels, ruffles, draped sleeves, split hems, embroidery, glittery accents … all on the same article of clothing.

  18. Sorry to say nothing is appealing to me about these outfits. Colors not mine and styles not my classic taste. It would take a tall thin young person to wear this. Plus if you have the arms for a bare style usually you lack the bosom or visaversa.

  19. It gets a no from me. The length is too long. The neckline is not bra friendly, & the print reminds me of chintz used in decorating in by gone days.
I hope you have a blessed Easter & enjoy your day with your family.

  20. No, for many of the reasons noted in the other comments – the cut, print, and embellishments of the top and the length of the dress are just wrong for me – and I do not understand the belt. At all.

  21. Too much floral and not bra friendly. Undergarments are important for me. Enjoy your Easter with your family! Blessings to all!

  22. No, I wouldn’t wear this dress. The ruffled neckline and one shoulder look just doesn’t work. It’s very sloppy looking. I dislike the belt and I don’t care for the large floral pattern on the blue background.

  23. Not for me. Too trendy. Too much going on in this complicated design with ruffles, spaghetti strap, one shoulder plus large floral design and a length that cuts you off and shortens you. Give me something classic that draws the attention to the wearer, not to the garment itself! The fabric would make nice throw pillows though:)

  24. I don’t really like the dress at all. The top is just downright silly and impractical. The pattern is gawdy, and the belt is uncalled for. I would never wear this dress in a million years, and I do not think it would flatter any body type… but especially not our age range. Please listen up, designers! I hate to sound mean , but this dress is too mixed up! I just don’t get it.

  25. Thank You Katie! I appreciate that so much! I love being here as often as possible. And I appreciate your understanding when I am not!

  26. I’m afraid that I’m in agreement with most of the other posters – this dress is a disaster. I can’t imagine anyone over the age of 24 wearing it, plus you’d have to be model thin and tall – and I’m neither. I don’t see this being flattering on many women at all – and certainly not anyone over 40.
Now I have to admit that I’m not really a fan of prints in the first place – I love the look of some but just not on me – but this one is just bad – it looks like an old chintz slipcover.
    Definitely a miss.

  27. I bought a dress with a similar cut but in a smaller floral on a black background. I think this floral is a bit too overwhelming, and the cut of the top does necessitate a strapless bra. Since I invested in a really good strapless bra, that’s fine by me.

So my answer is a waffly “yes…but”. 🙂
