Elysium Health Introduces Basis for Healthy Cells & Perhaps Longer Life

 This is a Sponsored Post

This is the new staircase I confront daily at work.  I am making myself walk it more than once a day.  I work on the fifth floor.  It is just one of the many challenges I give myself in order to stay healthy.  I am learning so much about my health and want to share all of it with you.  Today, I would like to introduce you to a new daily supplement by Elysium Health and it is called Basis.  I believe one of my roles is to help you become educated to products and services which can assist us with living a full, healthy life.  (And this is a lot easier to do than to walk those stairs!)

Please allow me to take the words about Basis directly from the people who have developed it, Elysium Health, a company focused on proactive health:

“Based on more than 25 years of aging research, Basis is a daily supplement that supports cellular health by increasing and sustaining levels of NAD+ in our cells. NAD+ is a coenzyme that’s required for essential biological processes, including energy creation, DNA maintenance, and regulating circadian rhythms. Our supply of NAD+ declines as we age and those functions can break down.

Basis increases NAD+ levels and supports cellular health with two compounds, nicotinamide riboside (NAD+ precursor) and pterostilbene (sirtuin activator – sirtuins are proteins that govern longevity in lower organisms and only function in the presence of NAD+)”

Not all supplements go through extensive testing, but Elysium continues to conduct preclinical and clinical trials around Basis. Their first study was published just last year in Nature Partner Journals.  did and was tested by leading scientists and clinicians at Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge.  Now that I work at a research university, I know how thorough and important studies like this can be when conducted on the collegiate levels.  This study is considered to be breakthrough research, clinically proven to increase NAD + levels.  Basis is based off the founder’s (Dr. Leonard Guarente – director of the Glenn Institute for the Biology of Aging at MIT) research. He discovered SIR2, a member of the sirtuin family which are the genes that control aging in lower organisms, and the role NAD+ plays in them. You can read more about his discoveries HERE and more about NAD+ science.

In a nutshell, it is about supporting cellular health which I do not think many of us really consider as we are looking at our overall health profile.  This all made sense to me, so I have begun to take one in the evenings before bed.  Of course, I cannot tell you I see immediate results, but do hope it will help me in feeling my healthy best.  I do not take many supplements but only the ones research-based which seem to make the most sense for my age.  I desire to stay healthy and strong for my grandchildren and so my own children will have less of a burden as I age.  That is why I look at information like this very carefully.  And remember, I do this because I MATTER.

  1. I am jealous of your “stairway to heaven.” What an super way to practice functional fitness!
Climb that “mountain” like a goat.
I had a shorter set of stairs at my job. As I clambered up and down, I just focused on the great opportunity to strengthen my thigh muscles, and increase the flexibility of my knees and ankles.

  2. Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I will check it out! I try to take steps whenever I have an opportunity instead of the elevator or escalator . It’s great exercise and definitely builds strength and endurance!!
