Why I Love A Fall Fashion Show

I love the fall fashion runway show at Neiman Marcus in San Antonio and make it every year…it is a past award award winner well orchestrated by their talented marketing director, Xitlalt Herrera Salazar.  First off, I go because I love the artistic beauty of the fashions ….just as if I were visitng an art museum.

Secondly, I learn about the current trends…what is in style and how I can keep my own style current, youthful, modern.  This year the trends include peacock colors, animal prints, burgundies, sequins, menswear, and 80s inspired styles (especially from the old television show, Dallas…that means an occasional shoulder pad).

I believe this is the dress from the mannequin featured yesterday…which was also in Neiman Marcus.  What I saw in many of the looks were pieces I would love to wear and ways to style the pieces I currently own.  For example, I would wear this jacket………………

and, I would wear this outfit……………..yes, even the shoes!

I am always inspired by the fashions and encouraged to step out of my box in new ways.  I have so many ideas for this fall as a result of watching this show.

By paying close attention, I learn how to mix and match colors and patterns in ways I had not considered before.

There were fewer accessories this year, because the prints and colors make such a statement.

I am able to learn about myself by watching fashion shows.  I never sit there and think that I could never pull it off or have an occasion to wear it, but I always ask………………………how can I apply some of these things to me.

There’s more from Neiman’s in the slide show below (some great sale prices too), but tell us, do you like to attend fashion shows?? If so, please share what you like about it.  Then, join me, as I ……………………………………………

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. Well, thank goodness the leopard print dress does not seem to have the grey hood attached! I do like the fact that it has sleeves, and I really like it with the long vest. I too would wear the outfit with the floral pants (not sure about the leopard print shoes with it, but hey, I might give it a try!). The metallic-looking sleeveless parka with the snakeskin print top, however, does nothing for me – maybe I need to actually see it in person. Thanks for the enjoyable glimpses of the fall fashion show!

  2. Thanks for sharing this runway show with us. My excitement really picked up when I read “Dallas” and “Shoulder Pads”. Do you think we will see even more of shoulder pads this Fall. Plus love the animal print.

  3. Good for you…I am going to try it…maybe even tomorrow! I really liked the snakeskin tunic top…without the parka!

  4. We will see stronger shoulders in the fall, Esther. Maybe not as dramatic as the ladies of Dallas, but nevertheless a little more padding in the shoulder. Should be fun!

  5. This was so interesting … thank you for the post! I liked that it was a fashion show, so pushed the limits a little; however, all the pieces were at least faintly wearable. In true runway fashion shows, the looks are so ridiculous I have a hard time mentally repurposing. I have leopard mules, and it is surprising how well they go with many outfits, including the one you liked. My favorite outfit as a whole was the leopard skirt with the brown satin blouse. I had a similar blouse, including the tie, in the 80s and wore it to death. Fashion this fall looks so luxe and rich … it will be a good year to add a few “forever” pieces to my wardrobe.

  6. I was so inspired by this show, Linda. So much of it was wearable…I hope to share more later. It has me super excited to step out of my box a little more this fall. And that brown blouse with the bow was gorgeous!

  7. I love many of these pieces. My favorite color is red and that red suit is spectacular. I likely couldn’t afford it, but I like it LOL. I’m glad the leopard is still in style because I have accumulated several pieces in recent years including shoes. The brown blouse with the bow is spectacular. In spite of the fact that I don’t care for winter (in the Midwest), I love Fall and everything about it. The clothing styles, the warm, spicy candles, and the decor. It’s a comfort time of year.

  8. Yes, it is Nina…you are right from fashion to home decor! Thanks…take your inspiration with red and do something fun with it!

  9. Thank you for showing pictures of the fabulous Neiman Marcus fashion show. My girl friends and I would attend lunch time fashion shows, some supplied box lunches! All the top stores had them, starting in the Fall. Add the September issue of Vogue and we were a happy bunch. Absolutely loved the leopard skirt and the silk short sleeved jacket. Perfection, Pam.

  10. You are so welcome…and thanks for reminding me to pick up the fall magazine issues…my favorite time to look at them!

  11. I usually don’t like fashion shows because I often find the styles & combinations too weird. But this is a great show! I like many of these looks & could actually wear them.
    Thanks for sharing this, Pamela!

  12. Love the leopard skirt and brown blouse–and the red purse along with it. I also adore the final formal gown, how beautiful is that color? And I for sure would wear the leopard shoes with the dark floral pants as shown-leopard is a neutral if you use it sparingly (at least to me, it goes with almost everything).
Thank you for the pictures! Wish we had N-M here!

  13. You are right about leopard, Susan…it really has become a neutral. You are so welcome…happy to share.

  14. WOW, it looked like a fabulous show. I wish there were some in our area. I have a leopard dress and a long vest and until I saw the fashion show picture, I’d never thought to wear them together. I now have a new outfit without buying a thing! I’m inspired too…

  15. I love nothing more than a fashion show or event! This show looks fabulous. Gorgeous winter items to entice us into looking forward to cold weather.

  16. Hi Pam, I couldn’t make it to the show but your post inspired me to buy the blouse. I bought the same skirt over a month ago and have s couple of jackets I think will work well with it. If so Ill do a post and let you know! Great job taking these photos!
