  1. Those toothbrushes are wonderful! The walnut oil in the individual packs looks convenient for taking salads to work. Good to know about the Arnica gel, I’ll have to remember that one!

  2. Hate to be Debbie Downer here but that walnut oil is not a healthy food. Walnuts, the whole, unprocessed food is healthy. If you are not promoting it as such then no worries. I’m confused about your intention (healthy? a delicious treat?)and perhaps it would help to clarify for your many devoted readers.

  3. Please share what you know, Lisa. My assumption (which I know assumptions can be trouble) was based on the good health of walnuts! It is tasty…but I am always ready to admit wrong if the facts support it.

  4. Hi Pam. The research I would recommend comes from Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn at the Cleveland Clinic. He shows that oils of any kind damage the endothelial cells which line the arteries. This damage leads to coronary artery disease. Also a great resource is Nutritionfacts.org. This site, headed up by Dr. Michael Greger does nothing but collect and disseminate information pertaining to nutrition and health. You can find lots of articles and research there about the dangers of all oils. The movie Forks Over Knives is entertaining and an excellent introduction into all of these concepts. You can watch that one on Netflix. A good rule of thumb is eat the whole food, not the processed version. Thanks for being open-minded Pam. Hope this helps!

  5. Hi Pam! For more information I would recommend two resources. The first is Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn at the Cleveland Clinic. His research shows that oils (or any kind) damage the endothelial cells that line our veins and arteries leading to coronary artery disease. This is also true of all animal products and processed foods which contain these oils (among other awful ingredients). The movie Forks Over Knives (netflix)is a great introduction into the concepts of eating the “whole foods” for optimum health. It features Dr. Esselstyn and others who are steeped in nutrition and health. Another excellent resource for nutrition and health research is the website nutritionfacts.org. It is run by Dr. Michael Greger and his team who do nothing but collect and disseminate the most current and comprehensive research pertaining to nutrition and health. He wrote the NYTimes bestselling book How Not To Die. I’m sure you can find lots of research on oils vs. whole foods on that site. Thanks for asking Pam. I hope this is helpful!

  6. I’ve read a lot about how healthy walnuts are but I’m not a fan of munching on plain walnuts and I limit salt so roasted and salted ones are not a good option. I think using the walnut oil in salad dressings and drizzles is a great idea. I like to make my own healthier salad dressings. I didn’t know you could buy the oil. As for Arnica, it has been recommended to me for my ankle which has had a plate and 13 screws in it for the last 13 years (a bad fall due to my own foolish independence and what my dad used to call “the lazy man’s load”. I digress. In the last 5 or 6 years I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on every lotion and potion I see on line that is supposed to free arthritis pain but I never tried the Arnica gel. Not much has worked successfully. I just ordered the walnut oil and Arnica gel. Hopefully my heart and ankle will be singing happy songs.
