Texas Wine Festival: Part 3 in Fredericksburg, TX

Fredericksburg, Texas is a Hallmark movie set come to life.  It has been one of my favorite places for over thirty years, and I have even decorated my home to have that Fredericksburg aesthetic to it.  We were so busy this time, that I did not take as many pictures as I usually do, but perhaps you can get the idea from the ones I took.  First of all, you need to know that the area was settled by German immigrants and the reminders of that are everywhere throughout this quaint Texas Hill Country small town.  It is ripe with shops, eateries (be willing to stand in line for the German Bakery), artists, musicians, and festivals.

It was the Texas Wine Festival which took us there and I am glad we attended if for nothing else, but to learn more about Texas wines and vineyards.  However, we hit the shops all day before the actual festival, so when we arrived in the town square, both of us were fried.  We enjoyed a few wines some music and then headed back to the Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast for a NAP! (Oh my, in reading that, I guess we sound a little old!)  We only wish that for the cover price the Wine Festival had included more food, but we found the food we wanted just off the festival grounds.  The wines were delicious…I met so many new ones.  One of my favorites is still the Christmas Wine from the Fredericksburg Winery.  Yes, it is a sweet red wine with holiday spices.  My favorite tasting was at the Fiesta Winery Shop where we selected six wines to taste and they were excellent.  Might I recommend Back Porch Sittin’.

When I go there, I have to have a Rueben sandwich…it is my favorite German meal…and it always tastes better in Fredericksburg…of course, with German potato salad.   Mr. B is not a fan of the accordion, but when you head to German country you are going to find them everywhere…especially during October Fest times.

We went to Fredericksburg for our first anniversary thirty-three years ago and I started my Christmas ornament collection there.  So, this time I had to add a few pieces, including an antique Merry Christmas sign I will share with you after I get those decorations up.  My beloved Snowman collection began in this quaint little town and continues to grow.

We saw so many groups of ladies having ladies time out as we shopped.  It is a fun place to go with girlfriends.  Can’t wait to go back soon.  I am shocked that this is the first of November!  Wow…so much to do, so little time.
