How to Style A Wrap – Look #2 with a Maybe Poncho

To end our series on How to Wear a Wrap, I decided to show you this EILEEN FISHER garment I found a few years ago in a summer clearance sale.  It is such an interesting wrap….it has arms, high slits and open on the sides, pockets low on the front, and it is long.  I might call it a cardigan or sweater jacket, but it has the slits.  Those slits make it more of a poncho.

Because I am experimenting in my closet for you, I decided to pair this with my Soft Surroundings brown pants with a subtle print. .  I also am wearing a cashmere turtleneck.

This is what makes an outfit uniquely you is when you add a print, texture, which may be a different way to style a look from anyone else.  These pants provided that opportunity.

The necklace is also uniquely me.  It appears to be two necklaces…and originally, it was.  However the one with the large disc is a piece of an old broken necklace.  The bronze beads is an older necklace I found at a consignment shop.  So I took out the needle nosed pliers and made this into one!  I love to work with old pieces which are easy to envision together.  I am by no means a jewelry designer, but it is fun to play when not too difficult to do.

Well, our week of wraps is a wrap…so to speak! I love how many of you came to the defense of a well styled wrap and offered your styling tips for how you do it.

Tomorrow is WOULD YOU WEAR IT with me and Jennifer.  Next week, I will return to my closet for a similar styling challenge around one type of garment or maybe even one garment.  This is fun.  I also did a little bit of after Christmas shopping, so soon, I will show you what I found and why it fits in my closet.  I plan to discuss those styling decisions more this month.

It’s been a great start to 2019…………………..remember to……………………………………………………………….

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. This is beautiful! I love the winter white with the brown pants! Such a great tip about adding a subtle print or texture to make a look uniquely you! I’m going to remember to do more of that! You have such good luck with Eileen Fisher and wear it well! Another great tip is how you made over that necklace!! So many times when one breaks I toss it, but now will look for ways to refashion the pieces! Really good tips today! I like the length of your poncho/cardigan. This is really classy!

  2. This looks sooo cozy! Reminds me of kimono more than wrap/poncho. Like you mentioned earlier, pairing a wrap needs a “column” underneath. And, yes, I’ve been known to hide under them too many times, ha! I’m guilty of buying sweaters two sizes bigger. Or stealing my husband’s clothes. Thank you for reminding me to re-think that.

  3. Another fabulous outfit! Your attention to detail with jewelry is inspiring. I’m looking forward to your next styling challenge.

  4. A gorgeous outfit, Pam. The texture on those pants is lovely! What a great color mix for you!

  5. I wear some sort of wrap almost every day – ruana, cardigan, duster come in handy this time of year in north Texas when an extra layer works well style-wise and temperature-wise, whether indoors or out. I am very tall and curvy and as long as the length and fit are right, these wraps are attractive and add an extra something to anyone’s style.

  6. Just a quick question. I, too, have a number of necklaces and earrings (which I think can really “make” an outfit). Do you mind if I ask how you store or organize yours?

  7. There is probably a better way, but I have a five-tiered system. (I guess that says I have a lot) I have a cute rack on one wall where my favorites hang and these change seasonly. Then, I have a box which holds the more valuable pieces in their boxes or jewelry bags. I have a big hat box where the costume pieces are in zip lock bags so they are easy to see. Earrings are in bead boxes from Hobby Lobby…though I cannot wear earrings right now. I found a cool wooden box at Goodwill and it holds my bracelets!

  8. Great segment on wraps! I have a lot and for some reason haven’t worn them too much this year. I’m pulling them out for a fresh look.
