Would You Wear It with Pam & Jennifer

Yay…it is Saturday and time for Would You Wear It with me and my good friend, Jennifer!  We go around our towns and find fashion displays which make us wonder what you think about the style.  Then we post it here and ask you to tell us if you would or would not wear it, and explain why…keeping it personal to why the look would or would not work for you.  Ladies love the comments!

So, after you comment on my mannequin, head over to A WELL STYLED LIFE and tell Jennifer and her audience what you think of the one she has posted.  We do not just post ones we like…it is not about us…it is about finding out what women over 50 will or will not wear.  So look at my mannequin, and tell us

WOULD YOU WEAR IT??

Then I hope you will spend time with my slideshow below because there are so many fun fashion items on the market right now.  So have fun with these selections.  When you purchase from one of the retailers in my slideshow and you get to their site through my site, I do make a small commission.  I so appreciate the support…it helps to make this blog possible.

KEEP SMILING, EVERYONE!!

  1. I love this outfit! Take away the running shoes and it’s mine! I’d wear it with a tall boot, or pointy toe flats. I think it would work for me…..the idea of pleats and skirt with running style shoe just doesn’t work for me. Have a great weekend, Pamela!

  2. Good morning Pam! I would not try on the skirt and sweater outfit, as I don’t like crew neck tops on myself. The skirt would work, but I already have a couple like that. However, I love the pink coat in the background, and I know that is not what you wanted comments on, but I would most certainly try that on. The colour and style are both a fresh chance for the fall. P,S. I have not been able to get on board with the sneakers with skirts thing.

  3. I would wear the skirt and sweater separately, definitely not together. I think this looks really sloppy. The shoes with this spoil the whole look for me. I know sneakers are a trend and it’s one I’ve let go by. The skirt is pretty and I do wear pleated skirts and feel very feminine. The colors are good for fall. The sweater is another great piece, on its own, and a beautiful color. Those shoes…..just no, for me. I really like the dusty pink coat off to the side, but can’t wear that color close to my face, sad to say. My take on the featured outfit is sloppy as it stands, but has potential in its individual pieces.

  4. No to the skirt. I don’t care for pleats on me. They don’t look right. The skirt might look better with a button down silky blouse instead of the boxy sweater. I might wear the sweater with jeans in another color — navy.

  5. I would not wear ant of these pieces. Tennis shoes with a skirt…no. The colors and shapes would not flatter me. If I lived in a cooler climate, I might be tempted to look at the pink coat, though.

  6. Can see this on someone else but both pieces are not my personal preference. That being said; seldom wear a crew neck for starters and most likely would choose a finer weaved sweater. As for the pleated skirt just do not like them on myself however do not mind front pleated pants and once owned a maxi length, mirco knife-pleated formal sheath/spaghetti strap dress that I loved. (That was about 41 years ago before gravity took over and parts began to shift … lol!) As for pairing running shoes with such a skirt; I agree with Paulette’s suggestion however to each their own. -Brenda-

  7. The Sweater/Skirt/Sneaker look can be cute. I’m liking the sweater, shoes and purse, but not the skirt. It doesn’t jive with the sporty look, at all. Replace with a denim column skirt- and I’d wear it!

  8. I don’t like that color of pink so I would not wear the sweater. I don’t wear pleats–I don’t need my hips looking any wider! I do love the sneakers. I wear sneakers all the time, so these are a hit with me!

  9. I can’t wear pleated shirts, as much as I would like to. They just do not hang well on me. I would live in the sweater, with Jean’s. It looks really comfortable, and seems to drape well.

  10. I would definitely wear this outfit. I love the skirt – It would go with everything in my wardrobe. While it would look amazing with low boots, the shoes give it a sporty, casual look. I have a large collection of Keds and wear them with everything.

  11. Love thi outfit, it can be worn casual, workwear or dressy just by changing accessories and shoes. I would definitely wear this.

  12. I love the look of this outfit. I’m not sure that the pleated skirt would look good on me. I might wear it with a pair of tall boots to match the cross body bag.

  13. I like the look, but not the shoes with it.. I do like the tennis shoe look with many things, but I think ankle boots would be better with this outfit.
I see these pleated skirts but have never tried one on, so I don’t know if it would work for me, but if it did:
    Yes, I Would Wear It
    (With boots)

  14. Vince makes beautiful clothes.
I don’t wear pleated skirts. I’ve tried them on many times. Theoretically, they should look good on me and they do look lovely on many women.
I feel dowdy in them so don’t wear them. It’s not about look for me, it’s the feeling.

  15. No to the pleated skirt though I love the colours , it would be very unflattering for my round shape. I do not like the sweater choice. It looks dowdy and a skirt like this needs either black or vibrant purple on top. I love the purse. Due to medical probs, I wear sneakers all the time so that is not a problem for me.

  16. I cannot wear pastels so would need to pass on this one. Otherwise, I like that the boxy sweater covers and hides the apple tummy area, allowing for the small pleats to be more flattering. I am one who has embraced the sneaker with dress and skirt look. As a junior high teacher, it’s comfortable and allows for easy movement. I try hard to avoid the frumpy stereotype of the older teacher, and since you can shop your closet for the sneakers, it’s an easy way to stay current.

  17. I tried on a pleated skirt yesterday and it was not a great look on me. I remember my Mom wore a dress with a pleated skirt to my wedding, 42 years ago! I do like the print of the fabric. And, I know I’m our outlier, but I’m a huge fan of sneakers with skirts! Hello comfort!

  18. I really like the whole look, and would wear the sneakers. In fact, I wore dresses and skirts all summer with sneakers and my feet never felt better. I live in a walkable area and also take public transport more than drive my car. I am grateful for this new sneaker look, who would believe it would be a trend when my feet were crying out for help.

  19. Not for me! Yellow is not flattering for me and pleats emphasize parts that I am trying to minimize. I’ll wear the shoes!

  20. I know it’s in right now, but I just can’t get on board with running shoes and pretty skirts! I’d wear this with different shoes.

  21. I don’t like the heavy sweater (or the color!) with that skirt. If I wore the skirt, I’d pair it with a jersey top in a berry color. I’m not sure the skirt would work on me though. The pleats might not be flattering on me now that my mid-section isn’t as small as it used to be. I would never wear a sneaker with a skirt!

  22. I’d wear the sweater and purse. Pleated skirts are not my friend. As to the shoes, maybe with a shorter denim skirt.

  23. I wouldn’t wear this outfit. The pleated skirt wouldn’t flatter my figure. The sweater is not a flattering color for me, & the shoes don’t seem to go with the rest of the outfit.

  24. Change the shoes and this would be an outfit I would try. Pleated skirts can be a ‘hit or miss’ and I’m not sure the color or neckline of that sweater would be flattering

  25. This outfit is fun … adorable, trendy, casually stylish!

I’m not sure if I could pull it off, but if I could I’d wear it in a heartbeat!

The shoes with skirt are totally not me, but I’d try them because they add such a fun and creative dimension here.

  26. Like the sweater, the bag and the shoes but i don’t wear skirts. Would like these pieces with nice jeans or pants and accessorized with a scarf. Is my age showing? Lol.

  27. I’m not a crew neck kind of girl, so no to the sweater. Also, being as I am less than 5 feet tall, I’d opt for a sweater closer in color to the skirt, which I love. Personally, I haven’t worn a pleated skirt – or any skirt for that matter – for at least 15 years, but that one is pretty. I’d give it a try. As for the pink running shoes, I’ve actually been shopping online for a pair of comfortable pink lace up shoes, so I just might be game to give them a try, Though back when I worked in an office, I would never have considered such a thing…

  28. Pleats do not work for my body. I would wear the sweater if I lived in a cooler climate. Definitely not sneakers with the fabric of the skirt. Would wear the pink coat in the background.

  29. Everything in fashion returns about every so many years as I remember this look with the shaker knit pullover and the broomstick skirt. As Mark Twain said, “History doesn’t always repeat itself sometimes it rhymes”. Fashion is ironically the same it comes back and is only tweaked a bit.
