Reader Questions & Answers: Spring Fashion Updates & More

Over 50 Feeling 40 presents new Spring fashion

I have been asked many questions from readers lately, and, let me tell you…I love it!  I really enjoy answering your questions and knowing you are engaged here, and I promise to tell you if I do not know the answers.  So, let’s start with the fun one first.  Are fashion brands still creating new collections?

That would be a resounding….YES!  Above and below you are looking at screenshots from Soft Surroundings New Collection which debuted yesterday.

Then, don’t forget that we also have new spring collections from JJILL and Talbots.  What amazed me is how quickly some of the styles are going…women definitely are enjoying online shopping.

I saw on social media this week a post which said, EASTER DRESSES ON SALE, and it was pictures of women in nightgowns.  I know many of us will still be at home during Easter, but the idea of going out to a restaurant looking fresh in a spring dress for Mother’s Day is a really possibility and even a gesture of celebration!.  Let’s keep our eyes open for that special dress to wear. The one above is JJILL and the one below is Talbots

MARKING SPECIAL MOMENTS

James Avery Charm Bracelet on Over 50 Feeling 40

Speaking of special moments, I met this woman at the mall perhaps in late February…I know it was before everything changed.  Since I am a James Avery ambassador and love all things James Avery, I immediately noticed her bracelet and asked if I could take photos of it.

I told her this was the most “abundant” charm bracelet I had seen, and she responded, “I have a lot of special memories and this keeps them with me all of the time.”  I think our special memories have become even more special recently and she made me want to wear my own charm bracelet more often.   You can check out the James Avery’s Spring Collection.

Of course, there are more questions, but I am going to save some for tomorrow.  I hope you will join me.  Today is a bit of encouragement that though times are tough, our favorite brands are continuing to bring spring to us and hopefully we will be celebrating soon in a new outfit, and big smile.   I have picked some of my favorites for the slideshow below.

If you want me to add your question, then let me know what it might be…I will do my best.  Until then, stay home…stay safe…and

Remember, in our social distancing world, your smile is the way you send hugs!

KEEP SMILING….and HUGGING THROUGH IT ALL!

  1. The sales right now are pretty amazing! That Easter post you saw…that’s hilarious!! Shows a great sense of humor which is really important. High hopes that things will open up in May! That’s a beautiful charm bracelet. My kids started me on Pandora years ago and every single charm has special meaning. I love wearing memories like that. Sunny day here today so I’m going outside for a long walk!

  2. Pretty spring clothes! That is a beautiful, very abundant charm bracelet. The lady strikes me as a very special person to honor her memories in this way. So many things and events these days are throwaway, as if having no value. One thing about this quarantine, it seems to be slowing folks down and showing them what matters; family, faith, the simple beauty of springtime.

  3. Love the spring clothes and the pretty colors! Still pretty chilly here in the northeast but it gives me hope! Some of the tops in the slideshow are perfect for spring! I’m anxious for the day when I can pull out my shorts and not wear sweats anymore!
Back in the day, my mom would get the Sears catalog and go through everything and put together her dream order. She could never afford to actually place the order, but I remember her saying how it was just as much fun dreaming. I think of that often when I browse the internet for beautiful things, fill my cart but never actually order any of it….and it is really fun!
    Thanks for the inspiration!
    Have a great day!

  4. I fell in love with the black & white flutter sleeve top from Talbott’s when I saw it in the catalog. I was thinking of how perfect it would be for a couple of events I have coming up. I had hoped to get to the store to try it on, but I just might have to order it online. I’m making a bucket list of things I want to do when this is over, & a shopping trip is definitely on it. Thanks for helping us stay positive.

  5. Pam, I have a question about ordering clothing on-line. How do you know what size to select? I may be a medium in some clothes or a large or even an extra large in some! Also, I love to be able to see the quality of the fabric and whether or not the fabric is thin. What about returns? Are you charged to return items.? As you can see, I am not an on-line shopper!! Any help you gave give to teach me how to order on-line would be greatly appreciated. I do so look forward to your encouraging posts each day. Thanks for everything!

  6. I’m with Joanne! I have a hard time getting the right size and am not fond of returning merchandise, especially by mail. I’ll be looking forward to tomorrow’s post! Thanks and stay well!

  7. Wow! That is some charm bracelet!! I have one my grandmother gave me when I was about eleven or twelve, to which she added special charms as I grew up, and I added travel charms from trips. I take it out and touch each charm from time to time, to relive the memories and to touch something my grandma once touched. She has been gone some 26 years now, so I am ever grateful to have something tangible to help me feel that connection.

  8. That charm bracelet! I have one but haven’t bought charms for it or worn it in some time. I love bracelets — I wear armsful of them in summer when my wrists are bare but for some reason this one’s gotten shoved to the back of the drawer & never taken out. That changes now! I’m going to pull it out, polish it up & make a list of the charms I want to buy for it, then spend some of this enforced time off to buy them, put them on & wear the daylights out of it! I wonder what charm I can find to “honor” a pandemic? 🙂 Thank you for the inspiration!
