Over 50 Feeling 40 shares emotional maturity news

So many news outlets are discussing emotional health in the midst of the pandemic lock downs and economic challenges.  I like this one from The Ladders which shows what emotional maturity looks like.  Read: 5 qualities of emotionally mature people.

AWESOME: I CAN TRICK MY BODY

Over 50 Feeling 40 in ECCO Sneakers for Spring

This past month without with gym…new work adjustments at home…and increased pollen outside has resulted in a shut down for my body and I MUST TURN IT AROUND and get moving.  I liked some of the advice in this article (Even though it is written for men!): Trick your body into wanting to work out.

MAYBE THIS WILL WORK FOR TRICKS TOO

  1. Happy Sunday!
I love the articles, but the one about green tea really made me realize I need to start drinking it. I did try in the past but found it to be bitter after sitting for a few minutes. If you can recommend any particular brand or method of brewing and drinking, I’d love to hear! In these times, why not try anything that might be beneficial for our mind and bodies. Now I need to go wipe down all my door knobs…lol!
    Have a great day!

  2. Good Sunday Morning!
Thank you for the news roundup. That gives me something to look forward to reading later today. 🤗 Have I disinfected lately?! – oh, and how!!! We listed our home/ranch for sale Friday at noon, and have been doing complete disinfecting of all touchable surfaces before and after each showing (even though the protocol is “non-touch” viewing). Three more rounds to go today, plus the usual getting up and out of the house, turning on and back off all the lights, music, etc. Luckily the response has been phenomenal, and we already have one full price cash offer, and are expecting one more and perhaps a bid-up. Have also hosted two realtors who had clients on video-chat walk through, which was interesting to see. One of these became the first offer! Anyway, it’s been a busy and extremely CLEAN weekend. 🌼

  3. There are so many good brands of the tea. Maybe readers could mention their favorites here. Thanks for asking about it!

  4. The fitness…..while I’m continuing to do it, it’s not the easiest thing to motivate myself. I think right now I’m doing it out of sheer habit more than anything; it’s morning, it’s time, I do it. But it’s plateau time over here…so time to act. With the weather still drizzly and cold, it’s not very inviting outside, but I’m thinking it doesn’t matter and I need to add a long afternoon walk to the routine. Something that has oddly been able to motivate me is new workout wear. I don’t want to overdo it and have too much, but if things get really bad I might spring for some cute new things. Trying to add the walk in first, cooperative weather or not! It’s a struggle! I was interested in the green tea article and will have to try. I don’t enjoy tea unless it is herbal tea, love that, and green tea reminds me too much of white tea and black tea. But with all of these benefits, it seems like it’s worth it to just tough it out. Maybe iced because I do enjoy iced tea, even the black stuff. The benefits are well worth it from what they say here. Thank you for some much needed encouragement!

  5. I need encouragement in the workout area, Karen! Hmmmm…now new workout clothes might help!!

  6. The article on sustainable clothing reminds me that I need to take another look in my closet for things I like but I don’t wear very often. A couple of weeks ago I took 6 inches off the sleeves and 3 inches off the length of a long-sleeved striped Chico’s tee. I bought the top in the first place because the stripes are mitered down the front. The length of the tee was the reason I didn’t wear it. I simply don’t feel comfortable in tees that are almost tunic length. I usually push my sleeves up so even though they were too long when I bought the shirt, I didn’t shorten them. After I hemmed the top, I decided I liked the proportions better with the sleeve hemmed to bracelet length. I’m staying home but I “dressed up” one day by putting on my “new” tee and a denim skirt. It’s a great look for spring! I know I have at least two more tee style tops that are an awkward length on me so it’s time to get out my scissors, needed and thread and update them to something I’ll want to wear!

  7. I don’t have varicose veins, but I do have poor circulation in my feet which turn purple and get cold. Reading the article I discovered the fruit extract Diosmin can help. I researched it and ordered some. Thanks for including this article in your post. I love this part of your blog.

  8. Green tea tip – add one whole peeled garlic clove. Will take away the bitterness and make the tea taste closer to a broth. I saw it on TV and it does work.

  9. An interesting collection of articles this week, Pam. I particularly enjoyed the ones on sustainable fashion and emotional maturity. As for green tea, I’m a great believer. I can’t drink coffee as it bothers my stomach, so I’ve been drinking a couple of cups of green tea every morning for a long time and I truly believe in its many virtues.

  10. I thought the article on emotional maturity was quite valuable. I see this all the time in people who seem to have trouble dealing with the ups and downs of normal life, much less what we are all dealing with now. I’ve had to learn over the years to not internalize every little comment as a negative criticism. I’m much happier now that I don’t have to be perfect. I usually have no problem apologizing and admitting when I’m wrong. It’s really no big deal, yet many folks just can’t bring themselves to do either.

  11. Tazo Zen green tea is the one I like. It has lemongrass and spearmint blended with it.
