Headlines for Women over 50 on Over 50 Feeling 40

Welcome to Today’s News for Women over 50!  Hot Beverage (Check!), Internet device (check!), way to take notes (Check)…maybe a treat…well maybe not,  let’s get going with the headlines I have curated for you from the past week. I look over many sites to see what stories you may find of interest and I only ask that if one prompts you to make a change in your health profile, to discuss any changes with your personal physician.  Now a days, that discussion can be online!

BUT, I THOUGHT I WAS HELPING!

Sustainability Ideas on Over 50 Feeling 40

I think all of us want to feel like we are helping care for our earth in some way, but I am discovering that sometimes those ways really aren’t the best.  I am guilty of one thing on this list, and found this information to be interesting.  From Real Simple Magazine, read THESE 8 SUSTAINABLE HABITS AREN’T AS GREEN AS YOU MIGHT THINK – HERE IS HOW TO FIX THEM.

ALL I WANT IS TO BE LIKED

How not to be a People Pleaser on over 50 feeling 40

Everyone is a “people pleaser” in some way, but most of us are aware that people pleasing on an extreme level can be unhealthy.  For those who might want to make changes, I saw this article in Woman’s World Magazine.  Read ARE YOU A PEOPLE-PLEASER? 6 WAYS TO LET GO OF THE HABIT.

DANCING, ANYONE?

Dance Videos on Over 50 Feeling 40

SHHHHH…don’t tell anyone, but I started dancing with Richard Simmons this week! I know, I know…there are more modern ways to dance and workout, but what can I say…I love oldie music…especially 50s and 60s vibes. Years ago I did his dancing with Oldies workouts and really liked them.  But, for those of you who want to dance and need a more modern workout, checkout from Pure Wow, THE 10 BEST DANCE WORKOUT VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE THAT WILL KEEP YOU MOVING!

MORE THAN EVER…BEWARE

Beware of Scams on Over 50 Feeling 40

I don’t know about you, but I have become someone who has little trust of any communication online.  The first thing I do every day is clear my SPAM…I don’t even read it.  It is like a dirt I just want it cleaned away, but that’s easy…the hard part is to read all email with a discerning eye.  Here is another warning from AARP Fraud Network we should be aware of: Work From Home Scams.

SORRY, IT’S HARD TO AVOID

How to take temperature on over 50 Feeling 40

It is difficult to avoid sharing information which relates to the pandemic.  That is what is ruling our world at the moment.  In the beginning of this, weeks ago, I told you I needed to get a thermometer to have on hand at the house.  By the time I realized we did not have one, they were gone like toilet paper and Lysol wipes. So, this article captured my attention in case some of you found yourselves out of a thermometer like me! From Women’s Health Magazine, read HOW TO CHECK YOUR FEVER WITHOUT A THERMOMETER.

THEN THERE IS THE CHALLENGES OF FOOD

Warnings on Over 50 Feeling 40

I have not been to the grocery often in the last six weeks…in fact, I think I have been twice.  My sweet husband has been going because I am more high-risk of catching the virus than he is.  I do miss it though.  Here are guidelines from experts on AARP for staying safe at the grocery.  Read: HOW TO STAY SAFE AT THE GROCERY STORE DURING CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK.

Eating take out on over 50 feeling 40

Then the other issue is take out!  We are really trying to eat take-out once or twice a week in order to support our locally owned eateries.  San Antonio has so many places to eat and enjoy great food.  It will be sad to see many not re-open.  But, here are some guidelines from She Finds, read THIS IS THE WORST MISTAKE YOU CAN MAKE WHEN ORDERING FOOD FOR TAKE OUT.

I hope you found these helpful today.  Feel free to comment on one or all of them…you know I love to hear what you think!  I have a special treat for you tomorrow as we think about Mother’s Day ahead.

Now in honor of the LOVE of yesterday’s outfit on Would You Wear It, I did a little shopping for you on Ebay in the slideshow.  There are so many things to look at on Ebay, you can spend hours there, but maybe this will catch the attention of some of you who love Johnny Was.  This is an all Johnny Was slideshow from Ebay.

Remember, in our social distancing world, your smile is the way you send hugs!

KEEP SMILING and hugging!

  1. Lots of great information! Since my last day of work on 3/13, I have not been in any stores. With a lot of persistence, I’ve been able to secure pick-up or delivery times from the bigger grocery stores or small markets in my area. I am, however, so tired of cooking and had considered ordering out this weekend. I read that article and am now rethinking that!
I love so many of the kimonos in the slide show and would love to wear that style. I have to admit, when I’ve tried in the past I always get stuck on door knobs, in door jams or on chairs. I usually end up ripping them and have given up! But I really do love the way they look.
    Happy Sunday!

  2. Several topics of interest to me. Thank you! My gym is providing my yoga class and Total Body Conditioning class online. I will save the dance class YouTube info. I love to dance – spouse does not. We have been ordering Whataburger and eating it in the parking lot! We read it’s safer to eat hot food rather than cold. I really want a salad from my fave deli but that will have to wait. Enjoy your Sunday, Pamela! Thanks again.

  3. Loved the articles and especially enjoyed the fashion slides! Johnny Was clothing is so different from my usual wardrobe, but I’d love to try it. They have petites too which is great. Such a super idea to go on Ebay! I wouldn’t have thought of that. Thanks!

  4. Interesting articles – thanks. Enjoyed slide show. But who is Johnny Was? Don’t think I’ve heard oh him.
