As we get farther into the new fall collections hitting the racks along with our desire to be more elegant, I wanted to make sure you knew about the trend colors going forward.  Especially for those of you who like to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  That sale is the first time you can purchase new fall fashion actually on sale…and it is very popular.   The Pantone Color Institute reveals the season’s color selections which are utilized by fashion and home décor designers throughout the industry.  You can see all of those colors at the Pantone Fall Trend Color Report.

PAY ATTENTION TO THESE WORDS

For those of you on the road to elegance with me, pay attention to this paragraph on the Pantone site: “Offering a rich narrative, the color palette for Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 highlights our desire for versatile, timeless color. Reflecting a ‘less is more’ mindset that is becoming increasingly important to consumers prioritizing value and functionality, our color palette is stripped of excess,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Imbued with strength and personality, colors for Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 encourage our ongoing desire for unique self-expression through creative and unusual visual statements that stand out.”  We are learning to go beyond black & white with elegance and simplicity.

From every book I have read so far, elegant women practice less is more.  They look and feel great in their clothing and do not need to do much experimentation, because they know what works.  I have a newfound freedom with this philosophy now that I have changed to working predominately at home.  I am learning more and more what works for me, and now (more than ever) I can have the courage to stick to it and just be me.  I will be discussing this more tomorrow…while I humbly confess to mistakes!

Out of the colors, I personally like the magenta purple, fired brick and classic blue. All are currently in my wardrobe.   I would need to see the sandstone, samba and ultramarine green close up before I knew for sure what I thought.  How about you…what are your favorites here?

I am going to discuss this more when I do more wardrobe posts on what basics should be there.  I have always struggled with capsule collection posts…but this is a new me…so after I do some research, you will be the first to know where I land.  I am willing to learn and make new changes!

FOR NOW, LET’S LOVE THESE NEUTRALS

Pantone Colors for 2020/2021 on over 50 feeling 40

These are the trend neutrals selected by Pantone this year, and I am in love.  Isn’t that Almond Oil gorgeous?  I have never really been a fan of white…but a creamy off- white has me every time. I will wear all of these.  I am not giving up the black I love so much, but all four of these have me at hello.

With neutrals in mind, I am showing you the Susie Wedge Sandal, I recently received from BZEES in a slate color (called Morel Shimmer Fabric) I have desired to add to my wardrobe for summer styles.  These are lovely and I thought of them when I saw the Sleet color in this collection. I have more BZEES in the slide show below…fun, comfortable, washable shoes!  I will look to add some blue depth and perhaps some almond oil to my wardrobe….but it may already be there!

I love what Tish Jett writes about neutrals in Forever Chic: “Frenchwomen of a certain age have built their wardrobes upon foundations of neutrals.  They add spice with a few magical, highly personal finds.  That way they own the look.  To those who say a neutral based wardrobe is boring, Tish responds “Anything but. It’s intelligent, ageless, and always, always chic.  Best of all, it makes getting dressed so easy.  Within the spectrum of neutrals, there are vast nuances, textures, and possibilities.”

TODAY’S KEY POINTS

In this post, I hope you will take away the trend colors for Fall 2020 and for 2021.   Being aware of the trends, helps us to stay current with our styles and youthful.  Often, we can find ways to wear the colors we already own in order to be on trend.  It also helps us to understand what we are seeing once the new styles hit the stores and websites.

Also, the takeaway today for elegant style is to focus on less is more and begin to understand what is in your closet that works…and say good bye to the rest.  Also, elegant wardrobes are founded on strong neutrals.  If you don’t already know your own personal neutrals that work best in your wardrobe, then make that a personal project: Discover what they are. Remember the four beauties above I showed you from Pantone.

Hopefully by the time we reach the point where we have cultivated our everyday elegance, we will all look back and be thankful for the lessons we learned.

JUST A NOTE:

Pamela Lutrell for Goli GummiesThere are several ways that I generate income through this blog in order to cover business expenses and give myself much needed income.  Purchases through the slideshow links is one way, ads on the page is one way and a new way is through ordering or re-ordering the GOLI Apple Cider Vinegar gummies through me with my GOLI LINK HERE.  Again, if you are not familiar with the benefits of apple cider vinegar, you should speak with your personal physician.  My husband and I are sold on the benefits and I am proud to represent this product.  I am going to leave this at the bottom of my posts so that when you, friends or family would like to order you can use my link.  Thanks for the support.  This is a great product; as well as, the ones below!
