Would You Wear It for Fall on Over 50 Feeling 40

Happy Thursday, ladies, and welcome to another Would You Wear It Fall Clothing Pop Up!  I am so excited to see these new styles on the fashion displays that it is fun to bring you more than one a week for now!

Would You Wear a Fall Kimono on Over 50 Feeling 40

These are the posts where I ask you to look over the display and tell us if you would or would not wear the outfit, and explain your answer.  Look at it constructively. With body type and age and tastes in mind.

Remember, the comments are important and read by most readers.

It was difficult to get a full on shot of this mannequin, because of the table in front…but this is a long kimono jacket over black slim fit jeans.  So, look my two pictures over and tell us…………………………….

WOULD YOU WEAR IT????

Vionic Ballet Flats on Over 50 Feeling 40

Here is a fall styling idea…wear rose gold metallics as autumn accessories.  They look so nice with the oranges and reds and cinnamons of fall. I bought these Vionic Ballet Flats on sale over the summer at Dillard’s.

Autumn Sunflower Door Decoration on over 50 Feeling 40

This beautiful sunflower door decoration caught my eye at my nail technician’s recently.  I thought it was beautiful and made by one of the ladies who work there.

Please comment on the display, enjoy the fashion slide show, and always………………………..

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. I do like it, but would definitely have to try it on due to the length. The slim jeans are always a big yes! I do like the topper, the fabric and pattern and fall colors, just not sure how it would be in length. I like longer, low-hip lengths, but this looks like it is quite a bit longer than that. I’d try it on though, to see! That sunflower decoration is beautiful! I look and that and think of the time and talent that took to put it together…just so pretty for late summer and fall! That down jacket in your slideshow is on my list to purchase next week (before the sale ends!) for winter. I tossed one very similar, it was white with the fur hood and I loved it, but it got too dingy (being white) and had to go. Couldn’t even donate it, it was that bad. This time I’m getting black!

  2. Hi Karen, thanks for starting us off today! Please consider using my link through the slide show when you order your coat! Thanks so much!

  3. I am tall and wear long kimonos frequently over skinny jeans/jeggings and booties/flats so this style is speaking my language although the colors are not ones I would choose. I like kimonos because they can be styled so many different ways, depending on the fabric color(s), can be dressed up or down and provide modest coverage of the body – they are definitely a good investment considering price per wear. They’re also another stylish layer for these cooler days and throughout winter. Nice pick, Pam!

  4. Nope. I would look like I’m wearing a blanket in this kimono. The print looks like a large scale camo which I don’t like. The colors shown don’t work for me.

  5. I am sorry to say I laughed at this one. Definitely not my style. But perhaps for someone out there. too much fabric and I am not comfortable in Kimonos ,only for bathrobes. But, hey, that’s why we have lots of choices!
Hope everyone stays safe and we get the all clear soon!

  6. Hi Rhea, I shot the picture at Dillard’s but did not get the brand name…check their website.

  7. I’m glad to see slim jeans still being shown on the mannequin. The trend to straight leg or even baggy pants seems to be coming on strong, and with more of a tummy, I’m a bit worried about a wide leg pant. I think the topper has pretty colors and an interesting print, but it doesn’t fit my style adjectives. I also am trying to limit these very distinctive pieces in my closet. As I pare down, I need pieces that mix more easily, and those that let my accessories tell my story.

  8. i would try it on….i do love the colors, and i do like the hat as well…i know id have to have some heighth in the shoes to make it work for me though….the length of the wrap, im not sure about how it would make me look. the lean look of the jeans is good with the wrap but if the wrap is just too much, well then, the whole thing is out the window…or back on the rack at any rate..

  9. So difficult for me to look at fall fashions when the projected high is 107 today! I like the concept; kimono over solid column of black but I don’t care for the print or the colors of this one. I have a few pairs of vionic sandals that I wear a lot. Will have to try on the ballet flats!

  10. A yes to the hat, necklace and possibly the flats (like their simplicity and since you own them Pam imagine they are comfortable) however a no to the rest. As to the top; the neckline is a no as seldom wear boat-necks and the styling, colour and pattern of the kimono is a two thumbs down for sure however I feel one could pair it with a long sleeved top and/or wear it belted even over a slim fit midi length skirt. Also I know due to its fabric, I would get little wear out of it because of the climate I live in as not a substantial weight for our Fall season. As to the pants, would depend upon their length and ankle fit. (i.e.: Note the display of cords next to the mannequin as they appear to be a straight cut yet the lower hem is nicely tapered.)

  11. I really like this outfit. In fact I love Fall/Winter styles and colors. I wish I didn’t start dreading winter (I live in Ohio) when our beautiful Fall starts to unfold and I begin wearing my favorite colors and styles. After living in either PA or OH my entire life, you’d think I’d get used to winter, but my children and grandchildren are here so I’m here to stay.

Looking forward to “all things Fall” in your upcoming posts.

  12. Far too bug a pattern for a small petite woman like me but I like the olive top underneath very much! Have a great day Pam:)

  13. These autumn shades are so pretty but not my most flattering. Yet I love the topper-so lovely and yes to the slim jean. They always work for me! I’d try this all on and if the colors work with my Spring coloring I’d definitely pick this up! My style!

  14. No to the kimono because of color and print. I am definitely not an autumn so this palette is a no-go.
I’d check the jeans- depending on the brand, “slim” sometimes is “skinny” on me. My legs aren’t large, just average, but my hips are really narrow. To get jeans to fit my body, I buy. 0 petite. But then slim or this year’s straight is too tight for my taste and comfort. I never liked the skinny jeans look. It always made me (and many other people wearing it )look top heavy.

  15. I normally like the kimono look over slim pants, but this particular outfit is not for me. Autumn colors used to be great on me, but alas I must have faded out and look quite drab in them now. I do like the necklace though. Accent pieces of fall colors are one way I can wear a bit of fall.

  16. I could have written these very words, Nina! I live in NE Ohio and know what you mean. We know what’s coming and it’s not the best!! Same as you though, I ‘m close to my kids and grandsons, so I stay…!

  17. Yes, I would definitely wear this kimono. I love combining rich browns with black and find the kimono a very versatile topper. The necklace is nice as well. I probably wouldn’t choose the black top’s neckline as it appears to be choking the mannequin and it certainly would me. Over all it is a nice outfit minus the fedora.

  18. I said YES when I first glanced at it, but when I started to look at the details I realize it’s a no. I like (& wear) the IDEA — a loose dramatically cut kimono jacket over a black top & slim pants — but I wear only V-neck tops (there’s a copper one in the slide-show that is perfect!), & the colours in the jacket would make me fade away. I also think it’s too long for my 5’4″ & I think it would overwhelm me, even with high heels. I’d look at it in clear jewel or metallic tones (even autumn shades of orange, gold, copper or bronze), but not as is. I really like the colour of those jeans piled on the table in front of the mannequin (2nd photo) though; THOSE I’d try for sure!

  19. I sympathize with Nina and Karen: love fall but dread winter. I live in Canada so it feels like it lasts forever. The snow and harsh cold will be tough this year. Hard to sit on deck for social distancing get togethers in back yard when its 20sF to -20F! When I retire and when COVD is a thing of the past, will have to snowbird somewhere south. Like the look: column of black with colorful kimono. I’d wear it! It would hide my jiggly, fluffy bits too 😉
Thanks for writing your blog and giving us some normalcy.

  20. I’m saying no to this outfit because the style isn’t for me. However, I do like the colors — the olive with the rosy/blush color is a fabulous combo.

I like the necklace and know it would get a lot of wear. I have a lot of olive and muted neutrals in my wardrobe and this would fit in perfectly.

A big hello to my fellow Ohioans — I’m in NE Ohio and understand about winter!!

  21. Perfect seasonal transition piece and I like the brown and black together. A third piece over a column of color is a classic look for me. That neckline isn’t my favorite but I’d give it a try. Those rose gold flats? Two thumbs up!
