Cultivating Everyday Elegance: Meet Kimberly Frick

Happy Friday, ladies and welcome to the continuing series called Cultivating Everyday Elegance….where we all learn about this interesting, powerful word…elegance.

I am pleased today to introduce you to Kimberly Frick, a fellow San Antonionian, over 60 blogger… and definitely a woman practicing everyday elegance with style.

As always, I will ask Kimberly questions and allow you to get to know her better.

So, get some coffee or tea, and sit down with me and Kimberly for awhile

QUESTION #1: Please tell us a little bit about you and help the readers get to know you better.

“I’m Kimberly Frick. San Antonio has been our hometown for the past 24 years.  I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and that was pretty idyllic.  Before getting married I worked for an advertising agency downtown Chicago.  I have been married for 41 years to my husband, Ed.  We have moved 6 times and have lived in Indiana, Arizona, Chicago, Michigan and now Texas.  This is the longest I have lived anywhere in my life.  We have three grown children who do not live close to us and that has been my only regret about living here.  This gal always thought she would have Sunday dinners gathered around the table.  Family is the most important thing in my life. ”

QUESTION #2: How did your blog begin and when did you begin? How has it evolved? Describe the type of woman you are speaking to when you blog?

“I started Instagram in 2014 as part of my job as a stylist at a retail store.  The blog came later.  My goal is to inspire women of all ages to keep trying new things, to keep growing and connecting and supporting one another.

There are no limits that should be stopping us from anything we wish to do or achieve.”

QUESTION #3: How would you describe your personal style?

“My personal style is classic with a twist and few trends thrown in.  Sometimes I love color and sometimes monochromatic and neutral tones feel right.  I like to dress according to how I feel, what works for the weather and what makes me feel good.  By the time you reach my age (63 next month) I know what I like but I am also open to trying just about anything style wise.  If you don’t like it just take it off.  But sometimes you can be very pleasantly surprised! Take a chance!”

QUESTION #4:  Please discuss “elegance” with us.

“I think elegance is being comfortable with who you are.  Elegance can be learned by any woman at any stage of life.  With age comes confidence and wisdom.  We get very familiar with what works and doesn’t work for us and we are confident to choose what we like. I think it’s so easy today to find women who have a similar style to be inspired by.  With all the social media available at our fingertips style and elegance is everywhere!

For me being organized is key to living an elegant life.  A few things that add elegance to my life are flowers, candles, epson salts in a warm bath, clean bed linens, music.  I love the outdoors and a good walk or working in the garden always add joy and that is the ultimate elegance.  I love dressing up and I love pretty pajamas.  It’s not about more it’s about what feels great for the circumstance.  And of course, feeling the love of our families and friends makes for a wonderful life.

I think living through this year has had a profound effect on us all.  We are all missing family and friends, hugs and kisses.  We miss dressing up and going places. I will not be taking any of that for granted ever again.  But through it all I think finding a little elegance in our day to day life is possible.  Perhaps the greatest elegance of all is to be still and to be very very grateful.”

You can definitely tell that Kimberly loves her life…her smile radiates it.  Follow her on her blog at The Real Golden Girl

YES…IT’S THE WEEKEND

This photo was sent from Leigh Ann.  She has been in Virginia all week on this lake.  It reminded me of the peace everyone needs from time to time just to reset and refresh.  Elegant women do just that.

So take some time this weekend to be peaceful and find joy in your surroundings.

  1. I enjoy hearing the different interpretations of elegance. I take the time to think through each one and find that there are many ways we can be elegant women in our daily lives. It’s knowing that the point is not copying a certain person or style, but being our authentic selves and living with a calm grace. It’s celebrating the things in life that mean the most. Such a good series!

  2. Thank you Pam! Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend filled with joy & elegance!
    XO,
    Kimberly

P.S. I have several of your books but am now excited to read more of your list! Thank you for the list!!!

  3. Thank you, Karen…you are right that it is insightful to hear what others think. So glad you enjoy the series.

  4. Thank you for joining us today, Kimberly! I have read all of these books and they are excellent!

  5. I spent many a day visiting Patience & Fortitude at the NY public library; as a librarian it was the scene for some outstanding conferences. Thanks for introducing Kimberly!

  6. Enjoyed the Q &A with Kimberly. Her answers for elegance.. organization, enjoying the simple things.. to me is so important.
It has been interesting to me to follow your journey for style, I have liked the more classic styles, but like your flare for creative touches.
    The best to you.

  7. Though ten plus years older than Kimberly, I so agree with her philosophy. As to the topic of ‘style inspiration’ one of my go to’s is Helen Mirren; as so it turns out we coincidentally are the same age, have the same coloring and close enough body measurements but am slightly taller than her. Would love to be her sister to inherit her cast-off clothes and even her footwear as I believe our shoe size is the same …. lol! Wishing you a beautiful weekend, Pamela. -Brenda-
P.S.: Helen if you are reading this, my address is: ___________________. ☺

  8. Nice to meet Kimberly, and envious of Leigh Ann’s beautiful surroundings in Virginia. Thank you Pam for taking the time day after day to share yourself through this blog. It is such a friendly and welcoming start to my mornings. 🙋‍♀️💗

  9. Thank you for introducing us to Kimberly. Simplicity & being organized are two of my keys to being elegant. I can also agree with her on flowers, candles, fresh bed linens & music.

  10. I hadn’t thought of being organized as part of being elegant, but I really like that. I can see how that would lead to feeling comfortable and at ease with one’s self.
