Lessons learned for my new- life wardrobe and my skincare

Chico's Tops on Over 50 Feeling 40 with Pamela Lutrell

Happy Monday, everyone!  Today I want to share with you a couple of lessons I recently learned with my new lifestyle wardrobe and my over 60 skincare.

But, first…thanks to everyone who commented yesterday on my kitchen…needless to say, I love it and I am back to enjoying cooking once again!

FIRST LESSON LEARNED: WARDROBE

Chico's Embellished Peasant Sleeve on Pamela Lutrell

Since July (when I was part of a COVID layoff and decided to officially work at home), I have been scrutinizing my wardrobe for my new (out-of-the-office-building) style.

It is only recently that I realized I have more than enough jackets and toppers and what I really need to concentrate on is adding more tops that can be worn without the third piece.

This is especially true living in a warmer climate.

I have enjoyed looking for tops which have a unique, creative touch like this Chico’s embellished peasant top.

I paired it recently with my older Soft Surroundings snake print leggings…because it is a black print, it is difficult to see here.  But I really like these pants a lot and wear them often.

The shoes are a suede pointed-toe comfort shoe from Rockport.

A look like this is for going to lunch or out with Mr. B when I want to step things up to casual chic, but I have learned these are the types of tops I need to add.

SECOND LESSON LEARNED: SKINCARE

Pamela Lutrell's skincare with Chamonix Genucel

Just to remind readers…I am the ripe age of 67, and love it when someone remarks that I look younger…so, like everyone else, I have looked for a skincare line which helps me to achieve that goal.

Actually, what I really want is a youthful, healthy glow to my skin …skin which looks nourished.

Two years ago, I discovered such a skincare line with Chamonix Genucel…it is a plant based, all natural line using plant stem cell technology.

I saw an immediate change to my skin and decided from that point I would only use their products.

But, bloggers are sent tons of samples and asked to promote many products of different price ranges.  I usually pass those along to friends and family…even Mr. B.

But, recently I caved in to a persuasive plea and tried a new product (will not mention it here…not fair to them)…and I regretted it the moment I looked in the mirror the next morning.

I was looking at red blotchy skin with horror…I had a reaction to something in that product…thankfully Chamonix saved the day for me.

Chamonix had already asked me to try a new product: Zotique Deep Correcting Serum and, lo and behold, it corrected me!! I reached for it as soon as I saw the red blotches.

Pamela Lutrell uses Genucel XV twice a day

I used the serum with my regular moisturizer, Genucel XV, on top (which I have used twice daily for two years)…and amazingly I was glowing again.

LESSON LEARNED:  I will only wear Chamonix.  They do not pay me to say (they don’t pay me at all!) it is the only skincare line I believe in for my complexion, but that is what I am saying.

I regret the temptation to try another product, and have returned home to my go to brand.

LESSON LEARNED ON THE TIMES

Season of Joy on over 50 Feeling 40

I realize the numbers are rising for the pandemic bringing on more panic and fear.  But, my lesson learned is that we can experience joy and hope from home if we set our minds to it.

Choose Joy this day and join me in smiling at the week ahead…no matter what it holds.  Practice safety and optimism at the same time.

Tomorrow, I will share a recent cooking lesson learned at the request of my daughter!  There is so much to discuss going through the end of this challenging year.

All entries are in for the contest.  Leigh Ann and I will look these over and announce a winner as soon as we can.

Please shop for your gifts with my links below in order to keep me here every day and thank you for supporting this blog.

  1. This points out a need that I have also. Even living where it’s cold, I quite often don’t need a third piece, especially when I’m going out and will be leaving a heavy coat or jacket on the entire time. The beautiful top you are showing is definitely something I need to add to my wardrobe too. Like you, I have more than enough jackets and sweaters/cardigans, but kind of lack the embellished tops. Tops like that also work where it’s cold when we layer up underneath! Your shoes are very pretty too – they really elevate a look to dressed up casual!

  2. You hit the nail on the head! This type of top is exactly what I need too.

Your kitchen looks wonderful. I know you are so happy to have it finished and looking so good. It was definitely an early Christmas present.

  3. I envy you living in a warm climate which brings me to, living in a cold one as I do as I have the tendency to avoid 3/4 length sleeves as just don’t find them that practical so opt for full length. i.e.: No creeping up the arm if adding an overlay like a jacket, can always be adjusted shorter by rolling/folding/pushing up. Do like the top you are modelling though, with its embroidered embellishments and really looking good at 67, Pamela!

  4. I swear, you are the closest whisperer :). I was just saying, I need more one and done tops vs the third layer tank with jacket or even cardigan. This year, I finally caved and bought leggings, and I find I’m wearing almost nothing else (I assume that will change as we go post pandemic, but I think/wonder if they might always be a significant part of my retirement wardrobe). While I had workout tops to pair with them, I lacked the tunic length tops that cover enough to allow me to stop for an errand after a walk. I bought some cheaper things until I’m sure this is going to stick, as it’s quite a fashion departure for me, and plan to add some more high quality pieces if I find this is truly what I’m wearing.

  5. I have this top from Chicos and think it is a great piece. The sleeves are somewhat heavy but it fits me perfectly. I love 3/4 sleeves! Most long sleeve tops are too long in the sleeve length. Also I enjoy wearing bracelets with 3/4 sleeves. You look great in this top!

  6. I like a third piece or topper when I am out & about such as shopping, lunching or running errands. When I am home, a third piece is cumbersome, as I am usually doing things, be it folding laundry, tidying up or washing dishes. My go to look for at home is a nice top that can be worn on its own. After a recent purge of worn, stained & faded items, I, too, am in need of these types of tops.

  7. I will be looking more for tops that fill this void for me and make sure I keep the audience included in what I find. Thanks Kare…Rockport shoes are always beautiful and comfortable!

  8. I really like it with a gold necklace…just did not have it on at this time. Thanks for joining in, Virginia.

  9. Hi Ginger, click on my Rockport link and go to their collection called Total Motion. I have owned these awhile but they were from that collection. Thanks!
