Michael Kors animal print at Macy's on Over 50 Feeling 40

Recently, Leigh Ann and I headed out for shopping at Macy’s Black Friday sale, looking for tops to take our jeans up a notch to casual chic and for affordable gift ideas!

The Macy’s at The Shops at La Cantera was a perfect place to celebrate a little Holiday Joy and keep our smiles going…..

Our goal was to “pump up” our denim looks, and we both liked this Michael Kors Leopard Print Sheer Sleeve Blouse, which has a touch of gold shimmer in it.

Leigh Ann looks good in anything she puts on, however, I found this top to be flattering on both of us.

She also liked the Michael Kors Leopard Print Sweater which comes in petite and plus size as well.

I went to the mall in my INC curvy skinny jeans, and that is the department I usually check out first.

This sparkly INC rhinestone completer sweater is lovely….wish I had the weather to go with it!

The purple (Color Is called Wine Fine Feathers) Alfani Mock-neck Abstract Print Blouse captured my attention enough to try it on, put I knew I would not be able to tuck it in on my shape……

There is something about this blouse I really, really like and I almost purchased it to wear with my jeans on Thanksgiving.  But, I was concerned I looked larger in it than I am…so I left it there.  It is pretty though.

  1. I love the ivory cardigan!! That would have come home with me, and I’m going to have to look into that. So many pretty things. I do hope that retailers have good sales numbers so they can stay open. I really need to check out that cardigan!

  2. Oh I hope one of you ladies went home with the MK sheer blouse, as it looks amazing on either one of you. As to the rhinestone cardigan; notice a lot of garments trimmed in them this year. Even recently purchased a winter toque (for a niece of mine) that had them on it and as was sewing a selection of masks for her ; added some to one as a co-ordinate which I’m hoping will hold up since will be continuously washed. -Brenda-

  3. Your shopping trip looked like fun. You asked if there are other shops we’d like added to your list of links, so here are a few: Ross Simons jewelry, Land’s End, Christopher & Banks; and not sure how you would accomplish this, but I just purchased a book for my Kindle through a link on today’s Vivienne Files and would happily do all my book purchases through your links if possible (both gifts and my own reading). Anyway, these are just some ideas.

  4. Hi Connie….I will add Ross Simons and Lands End. When you find a book you want to purchase, just send me the name in my email and I will send you a link! You are amazing…thanks so much. I cannot link to C & B, but wish I could!!

  5. The leopard print blouse & ivory cardigan look great on you. While the abstract blouse is a great color, there is something about the shape that is a bit off, so I’m glad you left it at the store. Macy’s is my husband’s go to store when he wants a gift for me.

  6. I just added them to the list …including Kendra Scott Jewelry as well for a fellow Texan!

  7. I agree with Becky on the fashions. I think the problem with the blouse is the print on the inside of the sleeves. If it had solid sleeves I think it would be more slimming as it would highlight the print on the body and not attach it to the additional width of the arms.

  8. Wow! That cream cardy with the rhinestones is absolutely gorgeous on you, Pamela! The bands down the front draw the eye up & down (the direction most of us prefer, let’s face it) & worn over that long column of black as you model it, it’s incredibly flattering. I love the leopard V-neck blouse on you, too. It fits beautifully, the V-neck is slimming & draws the eye to the vertical AND it does exactly what you were looking for: it “elegants up” even the most casual of jeans. Not a fan of the Wine Fine top, I have to admit. It seems too busy to my eye & not in an especially good way. I think your instinct to leave it behind was the right one 🙂 Thanks for the fashion show, & thank Leigh Ann for us too. Love her shoes, btw!

  9. Yes, agree you both look so chic in the MK leopard sheer blouse–love it, and the Ivory cardi sweater looks amazing……two beautiful women!
I haven’t really gone shopping in our Macy’s lately (did pick up some Make-up when they first re-opened after Covid cases declined.). Now we’re in another spike in cases. I don’t know what our governor is going to do on retail…..scary thought as I don’t buy clothes online anymore.
I’d better get a move on…..holidays on the way!
