  1. While I love the lavender sweater, the neckline is usually not flattering for me (makes my neck look shorter). Also, the color is so pale, I look much better in jewel tones so would not consider that one. The skirt is too long, again, for me, and just not my style. The pattern on the dress is too large (for me) so that would be a no. Also, I’m not loving the style of it. I do like the leather-look leggings and moto jacket, but probably not together (would feel too costumey to me). I do love purple and am glad to see it featured. It’s just that I need a richer, darker tone personally. Sorry to sound so negative….just considering how I’d feel in them and they aren’t really me.

  2. Hi Karen! You don’t sound negative at all! You are doing what we ask with Would You Wear It and evaluating the mannequins for how they either work or don’t work for you. That helps others. Thank you.

  3. I love purple — dark purple. The skirt outfit is too pale for me, the skirt too full and the sweater looks like a sweatshirt.
I like the shirtdress style – not the big print.
The black outfit is another pass — floral top no, jacket pass, leggings shudder. The leather /pleather trend in leggings is a hard pass for me. I don’t get it at all.
    Happy Wednesday!

  4. I do love purple. and lavender….i will start with the dress, pretty but for a woman more slender than I…I would like to see that print in a blouse though.
i like the lavender in the center, but the shape of those pieces arent for me, the sweater is too plain and boxy, and i dont wear skirts anymore.
the leather suit makes me chuckle, if the world saw me in that, they wouldnt be able to suppress their mirth….i like the print of the blouse but the pleated style wouldnt work on me.

  5. Purple has been my favorite color all my life and I’m so excited to see a lot of it this season, especially at Talbots. I do not like how skirts that fall mid-calf look on me. I like them at the knee, slightly above or at the ankle, but I do like the colors in these outfits.

  6. I am a purple fan. Would wear the dress, changing out the cloth tie belt for a slender black leather belt. The lavender sweater and skirt- yes, adding a long string of pearls to add some style to the sweater, and probably a nude pump. I would front tuck the sweater, to create a waistline. Both the dress and the sweater skirt set, would be great for church, the sweater skirt would be a perfect holiday outfit.

The faux leather jacket and leggings, sorry, no, shiny leggings do not flatter my body type.

  7. I like the sweater and skirt look the best for me. The colour however is to me more of a look I would wear in the spring but for todays question, I would wear it with nude flats, sleeves pushed up with wrist adornment of some sort and a long substantial necklace or scarf. I like the swing of the skirt. The other two looks are not for me, as I like a softer more feminine look. I tend to agree with the ladies above, leather leggings do me no favours. For fall and winter I do wear a more rich purple or even a darker heathered colour, and actually have a few already.

  8. There is always something for everyone. Purple is just not my fav. I have always felt very uncomfortable in that color. Not so sure of the reason. Like the styles, juts not the color or patterns, etc. These would really suit someone else with more favorable coloring than mine for the shades. we have been in Chicago seeing our “Beast Brigade” which was fun. Home schooled and very busy. It was quite cold there,32 one morning, wish it would get these for us Fla. people. Best for he holidays!

  9. I love purple too! The lavender of the sweater & skirt is too light in color for the winter season as a whole outfit. I would love the sweater & skirt in a deep eggplant purple! I love shirtwaist dresses & I love prints but this one doesn’t sing to me. I might try the dress on with the black jacket. The hemline seems uneven in the front & I am not a fan of uneven hems in dresses. I like the black jacket; although, it’s not my favorite black jacket on the market currently. I am not a fan of leather pants. I am not fond of the print of the shirt. HOWEVER, there is a red printed dress in the background that I would try on pronto!

  10. Though do like the shade of the center ensemble; find since I’ve aged soft/pale colours make me look washed out. (I am fair in complexion.) Whereas the deeper more intense tones as the purples shown, are fine. As to the style of the skirt and sweater I’m afraid it is a no, since in a sweater prefer full turtle or cowl necklines for Fall or Winter and like my skirts more fitted/defined . As to the other two outfits, I’m afraid they are a total thumbs down as I feel both would be quickly outdated due to their patterns (large geometric/botanical prints) and fabrics (assuming the leather is faux) so wouldn’t consider purchasing them.

P.S.: Loved the outfit that you modeled yesterday which looked amazing on you.

  11. I love purple…I would wear the dress but although I like the print on the blouse, the neckline would not be flattering on me. I need a v- neck or a low cut rounded neck . Since I prefer bold colors, the pastel outfit is not something I would choose. I wish I could wear the “leather “ outfit but it’s not flattering to my body type.

  12. There are a lot of reasons none of these outfits work for me. For one thing, they all feel very matchy. Lavender is not a good color for me, I need warmer and deeper purples. I dislike large prints and see no reason to own another dress in retirement, as I still have plenty of them from my job. The pants look fun but would make my tummy and other rounded parts look awful. Paired with a moto jacket, this outfit is way too tough looking and trendy for my taste.

  13. The black outfit is my least favourite. The pants are too skinny for me and I could not wear pleather. The jacket is a miss for me as the piecing of the fabrics makes me think they were using up scraps of this and that. I also find jackets with an offset zipper often do not fall nicely when open. I feel the print top underneath is too traditional for the style of the rest of the outfit. I like the pale sweater and would wear it with a dark gray pant and a silver necklace or a scarf with the two colours. It looks cozy to me.

  14. I love reading everyone’s comments. I have lately been falling back in love with purple shades so today’s pop-up interests me. Unfortunately, the dress seems a bit shiny, and the leather ensemble too hip! 😉 I like the lavender outfit and would get lots of use from the skirt in warmer months or on vacation paired with a simple white tee or tank and some sandals. Looks like a perfect piece to wear at a beachside breakfast spot. The sweater is perfect for me, though I dare say somebody needs to add some foundations to this poor exposed mannequin! I would gladly wear this sweater under my winter white vest, or my goldtone one, with a pretty lightweight flannel scarf in a plaid or floral pattern, some jeans and a suede low boot.

  15. Ok I need to know what dept store you were in as I really would like to add that sweater & skirt to my closet.

  16. The sweater is something I would definitely wear — I love that shade of purple and it is one that is flattering on me. The skirt wouldn’t work for my body type — too much material. I’d pair that sweater with slim black pants or dark jeans. Dark plaid pants would be fun, too!

The dress is a no for me — I don’t wear bold prints. The style is nice, though.

I like the jacket with the blouse but not the leggings. I really like purple and black together, whether it’s light or dark hues.

  17. Purple is not a colour I’m drawn to, but that mauve sweater is gorgeous — the style is everything I love in a sweater & it occurs to me that shade might look good with my “new” grey hair. So I’d certainly give it a try. The dress, skirt & blouse don’t appeal to me at all, though. I like the style of the jacket a lot but can’t see myself wearing fake leather when I have a closetful of the real stuff, including edgy (& traditional moto) jackets in all sorts of colours & styles — leather jackets are a passion of mine & I have way too many 🙂 I might try on the pleather leggings just to see what they look like, but I doubt I’d buy or wear them. I don’t care for the shiny look &, again, I have real leather pants that look great on even if they’re not part of the leggings trend. If I did buy the leggings I’d pair them with a long sweater & a dramatic red (or white) wool jacket (NOT pleather!) to avoid what Karen in her comment rightfully calls a “costumey” look.
