How I wear red plaid after Christmas, and my skincare magic

Pamela Lutrell in JJill on Over 50 Feeling 40

Hi everyone, today I am showing you how I wear red plaid after Christmas, and, voila!, my skincare magic.

Mr. B and I have been crazy busy just taking down all of my Christmas decorations (so sad!), getting my car back from the shop after the wreck, and organizing.

Both of us have offices at home in what previously were children’s bedrooms, and both of us tend to pack a lot into those offices…so we have to take time out to clear out!

MY OUTFIT

Pamela Lutrell in JJill Sweater on Over 50 Feeling 40

I love red plaid, and we are inundated with it throughout the holidays in home decorations, fashions, and even gift wrap.

But, this is something I like to wear in early winter.  Typically, I might wear a plaid accessory with red or green or even black for the holidays.

Today, I decided to mix things up a bit.

The pieces of this outfit are my JJill light brown sweater, Macy’s INC skinny jeans, and my leopard boots by Born from Dillard’s last year.  See below for this year’s styles at Dillard’s…I love the southwestern looks..

The beautiful wrap was a gift from Soft Surroundings and is currently on sale.

Three thoughts about this outfit:

  1. This sweater perfectly grabs the brown in the plaid.  You can do that with any plaid…find a dominant neutral and go with it…just stay away from red and green underneath so as not to look Christmacy!
  2. By pairing it with brown, then I could pattern mix with the animal print boot…pattern mixing works best when in the same color schemes.
  3. I am wearing a lot of wraps since coming home to work.  Mr. B and I do not like the heater on too much, because of the way the air feels with a heater…and it is costly.  So I wear wraps while working and doing things around the house. I also think wraps are an elegant touch to your style.

MY MAGIC TRICK

Magic Skincare on Over 50 Feeling 40

Christmas 2020 will be remembered as the Magic Christmas since two of my grandsons wanted magic kits.

This one is rocking it well…don’t you think!

Anyway, it is a perfect way of reminding you about my favorite skincare line, Chamonix!

Pamela Lutrell For Chamonix all natural products

ZOTIQUE DEEP CORRECTING SERUM

I rarely mention other lines, because their Genucel, all natural, plant based skincare has been magic for my complexion for the past two years.

There is no reason that I would use anything else. I do not get paid to write about them…but I feel so strongly that you should know that I only cover their products.

I even have turned down payment from other skincare lines…I would not be honest to do that.

What I have done for two years with my skincare:

  1. Twice a day, I cleanse with Cristalles Microdermabrasion. I just it very lightly, and rinse off first with my hands and next with a white wash cloth.
  2. I follow that immediately with either the Zotique Deep Correcting Serum or the Genucel DFS, Deep Firming Serum. I have used DFS more often because Zotique is a new product…both are excellent!  Zontique has helped to lighten dark spots more as well as firm.  I gently rub it in all over face and neck
  3. Next I use the Genucel2 Triple Action Technology under my eyes and gently pat it around that area.
  4. Then I use the Genucel XV moisturizer and give myself twice a day a little facial massage…it’s great.
  5. Last, I use the Genucel Jawline Treatment with MDL Technology on my neck and again give myself a little neck massage.

I do all of this twice a day….but it has been so worth it!

Chamonix Best Sellers I Use

Chamonix is one of the big reasons I believe I am looking younger than my number 67! I highly recommend and I always have them under the shopping links tab at the top of the page.

At the moment, you can buy one product and get one free.

BLOG UPDATE

After I recently explained how I generate revenue for my blogging,  I was asked if there was a way to make a donation to me.  So, I have added in the sidebar a widget called BUY ME A COFFEE.  That is where you may donate to my cause if you are not purchasing with my links.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for any support, so that I might turn this into a business!!

Thanks for being here today!  How do you wear plaid in the winter?  Please share…stay warm…stay safe…and always…

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. I do like plaids, and appreciate your tips on how to move even Christmas plaids away from being too “holiday.” Your plaid, being tan based, is honestly appropriate for any time. But the idea of pulling out a color not associated with Christmas is a good one. The wrap looks cozy. I keep my heat down for major portions of the day when I’m busy (it IS expensive!!) and use wraps often. I like your subtle print mixing.

  2. Hi Pam! We are in our cold cold season here in the Northeast so layering is the way to go. I wear two plaid shirts from Talbots with crew neck or Vee neck sweaters. Shirt tails out. They were all featured in several of their fall catalogs and online.
I have no plaid jackets or ponchos but might seek them out later in the season. Right now we need warm warm coats!

  3. Thanks for sharing, Paulette! Talbots does have great plaid options! Stay warm up there!

  4. Connections to sites we love today were quite disturbing. They certainly do not match your model nor do I believe they enhance your business. Perhaps there s a way to modify these connections.

  5. You do look fabulous for 67! I think the sparkle in your eye has something to do with it as well as your great hair and skincare! Way to go! Thanks for being an inspiration!
I like your outfit especially how you matched the sweater with the color in the red plaid!
Now, for me, IMHO, the animal print boot is too much with this outfit. I think a solid colored boot, even in a lighter tone like your sweater, would have been better. But please know I will keep an open mind to all you suggest. Thanks again for your positivity!

  6. Thanks Denise! Pattern Mixing isn’t for everyone…I just wanted to show this option for a little fashion fun! Thanks for being here….

  7. I will look at it, Patsy…thanks for calling it to my attention. That is a new service and I want to keep an eye on it…I so appreciate you letting me know.

  8. I just heard from the company, Patsy and this will hopefully not happen again. They are putting in some protections to prevent it. I am completely on board with you that was not appropriate for what I stand for or for my readers! Thanks again!

  9. You look cute with the plaid, and I like seeing you mix it up with the touch of animal print. I have a question: the coffee link isn’t for an actual coffee, is it? That is just a cute way of remunerating you, yes?

  10. This seems like a great tune to try Chamonix but where to start? What would you recommend for facial wrinkles?

  11. Could you clarify what you mean by “buy me a cup of coffee”. Is this basically a donation that goes in your bank account. Thanks

  12. I love plaid, especially Black Watch and some of the Stewart/Stuart tartans. They have an interesting history to read about. I even named a dog Tartan! Black Watch is great in that it combines both navy and black, helpful when you want to tie those two tricky neutrals together. I can’t bother with wraps to stay warm, but an Ohio winter is cold, so I need something. Enter my Barefoot Dreams cardigans. So soft, keep you warm enough without overheating. At night I use an Afghan over my legs while watching tv, reading, or beading.

  13. More details, please. What Chamonix products do you use for the morning, the evening & in what order? Do you use SPF daily and when in the morning ritual do you put it on?

  14. I like plaid, & the way you’re wearing you wrap today makes it appropriate for anytime. Love your little magician!

  15. It is not for actual coffee… it is an app that allows donations. I had a choice of coffee or beer and went with coffee! LOL!

  16. Yes, it is for those who have asked for a way to donate to me. This is an app that allows that…and it goes toward my business account. Thanks for asking Linda!

  17. Hi Mimi, The following is what I do daily with Chamonix. I use the SPF right after facial preparation and right before make up. I hope this helps:
What I have done for two years with my skincare:

  18. Here is what I do twice a day, Dorothy and YES, it helps big time with wrinkles…or at least has with me:
What I have done for two years with my skincare:

  19. Wow…thanks for the education, Linda! I am going to look Black Watch up and learn. more…also I so wish I had one of those Barefoot Dreams cardigans…they were amazing when I tried them on!

  20. No Elaine, not at all…do you remember where you saw it? Was it in the ads or in the new feed of stories below. I do need to know these things…I do not support that. Please let me know where you see it.

  21. The CBD ads are more difficult to weed out, but I am doing my best to keep the ads to mostly fashion and beauty. Thanks Elaine.
