TODAY’S NEWS IN WOMEN’S ENTERTAINMENT

Today's News for Women Over 50

I wanted to end with something fun today.  Recently, I was in a medical waiting room and there was a much older woman on the other side.  She was dressed in what my mother called a “mu-mu,” and sandals.

When the nurse came out to get her, she offered up a grocery bag and said, “Here, I brought you a chicken!”

I smiled and silently wondered if we were headed back to the days of bartering.  I am sure she was just being thoughtful, but who knows…we may find ourselves there again some day.

With that episode in mind, and because I am a huge Dolly Parton fan, this article caught my eye to share with you.

WHEN DOLLY PARTON WAS BORN, HERE PARENTS PAID THE DOCTOR WHO DELIVERED HER WITH CORNMEAL.

I hope you enjoyed today’s selections for reading.  Please feel free to comment on any or all of the articles within and make sure you always……

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. These are great articles! Gardening has always been part of my life, and it can be strenuous work! Since selling my house (with no place to buy currently), I’m in a temporary place with no gardening opportunities. My son invited me to make use of their yard whenever I was in the mood in the meantime! I have been puppy sitting two or three days a week for them, and guess I underestimated the value of the walks we’ve been taking in the park. Our walk/jogs seem less structured than the gym, but reading this, no less effective! Great to know. I plan on continuing even when he’s older and on his own more. I’m so glad to hear some good news regarding Penney’s! It’s a fun place to shop and they seem to always have good sales. Also appreciated the tips on finding perfect jeans. This is on my list for my next shopping trip, and I’m going to keep trying them on until the perfect fit appears! I know those jeans are out there! Good reading here!!

  2. I have little facial hair, but one of the very best things I’ve ever done for my skin is derma blading. My skin just glows, and makeup looks so flawless. I use the Schick Silk Touch Up razors from Ulta. I have not found any of the myths of shaving (darker hair, coarse skin, etc) to be true.

  3. Thank you Pam for your generosity these are wonderful reads. I so appreciate your voice at a time like this as we are still waiting for the vaccine here in California and my man and l won’t be getting it until April so l hear you about the health concerns. And l love the paint colors as it is time for a refresh here! Take care 🙂

  4. What a great collection of Good Stuff, Pamela! I love Dolly Parton, blue jeans & Liz Claiborne (those sandals!!), have a contentious relationship with gardening I may have to resolve after reading the article you linked to & I found the bit about facial razors both enlightening & helpful. Eight years ago I told my husband if he didn’t stop complaining about losing his hair (all the men in his family have Male Pattern Baldness, so I’m not sure why he was surprised it happened to him) I was going to shave his head — or he could just do it himself & save me the trouble. He did it once for kicks, but he frankly looks so darn good in a sexy, dangerous kind of way, that it took no effort to convince him to keep it up. Maybe it’s time for me to stop complaining about all the time I spend in front of a magnifying mirror with tweezers & join him in the razor brigade!

Now to track down those Liz Claiborne sandals because JCPenney doesn’t appear to ship to Canada anymore 🙁 Thank you for another great line-up!
