I am looking to you for advice because you seem to channel my thoughts some days. I am 70 plus, fairly fit, 5’4’’ with a body shape that let’s say – you and I shop in the same corner of the store.
What is your take on capri pants? I’ve read several stylists who say to never wear them because they visually cut your leg in half. To me, wide or straight crops seem to do the same. I am purging some less than flattering items from my spring -summer wardrobe. I like shorter, cooler pants for summer, but not shorts. Slim capris just under my knees seem most flattering and crops only when they are slim to the leg. Should I have my shorter pants tailored to crops, even though to some stylist they are unflattering? My legs, ankles, feet and skin still look ok bare. I wear sandals, flats and low-cut sneakers with my summer pants. Heels are a thing of the past.
Thanks for any insight or suggestions!

  2. Hi Jane, I live in a very warm climate. However, I really believe a slim leg Capri pant and ankle pants can be slimming and chic depending on how they are styled. I could not get through summer without capri pants and crops…I respectively disagree with those who say to never wear them. Perhaps they don’t live where it is warm and humid. I would recommend you keep the slim ones that fit you well. Thanks for reaching out!

  3. I’m glad to see sneakers are fashionable. I wear mine a lot because they are comfortable when I am going to be doing lots of walking. I’m not sure I’m ready for sneakers with a suit, but I have worn my Keds with a denim skirt in the summer. The article on decorating with plates was interesting. A niece just remodeled her bathroom & decorated it with blue & white plates, most of which she found at thrift & antique stores.

  4. I agree Becky… sneakers are great! Such a youthful touch too. Your niece’s bathroom sounds lovely!

  5. Thanks, Pam! I’m going to go with what makes me feel good and comfortable for the summer. I will take a few things to the tailor and wear them with confidence.
