I am very impressed with this new company I recently discovered, Cellar Door Plants.

I do love fresh flowers, but there are times I want to gift something that has a longer life span…and their plants are lovely.

The plants arrived in a regular shipping box which intrigued me…but when I opened it…I discovered a lovely, healthy, not damaged product!

  1. Good morning Pam! I love this idea, and it feels just like sitting down together having a morning cup of coffee or tea. Today I’m having nutbread too, a little treat to start the week! This is so personal and lets us connect with you in a different way! I love it! I don’t currently have the journal, but since you gave tips for things to ponder, I’m going to go get my own pretty book today and get started. When I’ve tried in the past, I kept writing the same things, like you mentioned is easy to do. Then I’d write one thing in my planner, but again, it was always the same. I wrote down your suggestions and I’m going to do this. I’m going through a very stressful time of completely renovating the condominium I bought, and thankfully not living there until things are getting completed. God has blessed me with a cozy apartment that is my refuge from the current chaos. Parts are fun, but other parts are just trying. Anyway, this video came at a perfect time and I’m starting today! Happy Monday, I really enjoyed seeing you more in person!!

  2. Fabulous video. I enjoyed listening to you as I had my first cup of coffee this morning. Great idea! It’s nice to be bold and change these up.

  3. So glad you liked this idea, Karen! The journal helps me to look for the specifics rather than the general…and that keeps it from being repetitive. I hope it will help you some in navigating these transitions! But how much fun to have a newly finished condo in your future!

  4. I enjoyed having my coffee with you. Your video was very positive and uplifting. I used to have a journal I wrote in but it fell by the wayside. You’ve inspired me to start a joy journal.
I’ve often wished I had stared a journal at the beginning of the pandemic. Haha then I know I would have probably written the same thing everyday. I’m looking forward to your next video.

  5. What a treat to hear you chatting with us this morning. This is a great idea and not to worry about the video recording, it is good as it is. I have had periods in the past where I did journaling and then long spans with none, and it is always so interesting to go back and read them and see where I was at the time. Lately it has been sort of hit and miss with the staying at home and not much to comment on, but hope to get back to a more normal schedule before too long. Mine usually include more things like ideas and plans and even a bit of a travel journal when we were getting away. Must make it a priority to do the joy idea as well. Good to see you.

  6. Great idea ! I will try the journal one more time, tried twice before but like you said, got stuck and gave up….one of the morning news ladies said May is mental health month, and boy am I hoping people pay attention. We sure seem to have a lot of issues, if you watch a short news program or pull up headlines it’s scary apparent.

  7. This is a marvelous idea! I truly loved this first edition, and the specific categories for a joy journal. I’ve tried this before and gave up because I was always thankful for the same things. Please keep this ministry going. What a great way to start the week!

  8. Hi Diane,
Thank you! Remember….even at home you can find little silver linings. A journal will help you look for them!

  9. Focus on the good and positive and silver linings, Sheryl! Sometimes it helps to turn off the news! Yes, it is Mental Health Month…and if you know anyone who needs a positive place to be, please share this with them.

  10. Great video Pam. Such a positive way to start this week. You are an awesome communicator. Certainly, you gave me a big smile today!

  11. So glad it brought you some joy, Cheryl! To keep your journal fresh look for new blessings and be specific every day. We can find new joy around us daily if we watch for it!

  12. Pam, I just love this new idea! It was such a positive, fun way to start my day. I began a gratitude journal at the beginning of this year, and I love it. It makes me truly stop and think about everything I am thankful for. And I love your idea about the three categories – I plan to incorporate that into my journal, as well. I am really looking forward to seeing your videos each week! Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

  13. Thank you, Glenda! And thank you for sharing how your gratitude journal is helping you!

  14. Good morning Pam! I really enjoyed your Monday morning breakfast table talk video, and I’m already looking forward to your next one! Some time ago, I kept a happiness journal, but lost the habit. With your encouragement and helpful hints, I’m inspired to restart journaling. In fact, I already have a couple of very pretty journals gifted to me by special friends ( #1 on my new grateful list – I’m so grateful for my friends!).
Again, I enjoyed your new video venture very much! Great job Pam!

  15. Thank you, Betty! So glad you are here and getting back into the journaling!

  16. Loved your video….it was very motivating. I will start my journal today.

  17. Good morning Pam! I’ve been following your blog for some time, but this is my first time commenting. Thank you for the hard you put into your blog and now this video project. I didn’t know you had a YouTube channel – I will check it out! The topic of how much we still have to give – to ourselves, our families, and our communities has been ongoing for some time and I think it is great you are addressing it. The challenge will be getting our contributions acknowledged and appreciated by those around us. I look forward to more discussions on this topic and to more Monday morning videos. The journal categories help create a more complete picture of the day. I’m going to start using them today!

  18. Good Monday Morning! Thank you so much for the video. 😊 I love this idea and appreciate the more personal nature of connecting like this. I have not kept a gratitude journal, I guess because I offer this up as part of my prayers. You adding the suggestion of putting down also what we learned today . . .that helps me to see it more as part of a personal walk I’d be doing towards both thankfulness and fulfillment, so I’m going to give it a go. No better starting point than now as I leave tomorrow for my short adventure in Alaska! 😁 I am bound to see and learn a lot and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to visit my friend and attend her art show. I even started an Instagram account last week to post my photos – another learning experience. Have a wonderful day!

  19. Thank you for being here, Pat. I understand what you are saying…sometimes appreciation comes much later than we would like it to. Nevertheless, I hope to encourage all listening to enrich your lives for you first…then hopefully you will learn of appreciation later. Sometimes the satisfaction is in just doing it for ourselves. I really like the journal with added categories…it inspires me to look for lessons learned everyday. I have already learned one this morning and logged it in!

  20. Hi Connie…have fun on your trip! It sounds amazing…I would love to follow you on IG if you don’t mind sharing your page with me or email it to over50feeling40@gmail.com. I love the idea of a trip focused on an art show…thanks for being here.

  21. Pam, it was so fun to see your face and hear your voice again! What a great idea! I loved the video and you inspired me to get my gratitude journal back out–I haven’t written in it in 4 months. Thank you for the reminder and the encouragement.

  22. You are so welcome, Nancy! Thank you for being here…enjoy your journal!

  23. Pam, I loved your video this morning, thank you for doing this! You are just as sweet, encouraging and kind as I thought you might be in person. I have never been a journaler but you have challenged me to start. I enjoy your blog and look forward to it every morning. Have a blessed day!

  24. Thank you so much for your video this morning, Pam! I was very inspired by your words of affirmation and encouragement! I always have good intentions to journal or take me time each day but those practices always seem to fall by the wayside as I think I need to be “doing” – housework, laundry, this, that and the other! I love your three category suggestions and I think they will help me to focus on the things that are really important in my life and not just the busy-ness! I will look forward to your videos every week! WHERE did you get the beautiful journal???

  25. Hi Sharon! Actually, this journal was a gift from a friend and I do not know where she found it, but I will say that some of my favorite journals for great prices have been found at Marshalls, Ross, and Tuesday Morning. They always have fun choices! Thanks for being here!

  26. It was so much fun to hear you as well as see pictures of you. I must confess I was expecting a more “southern” accent 😀 My two other Texas friends have unmistakable accents. I started a gratitude journal about a year before my grandson died. I had been reading 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp. When Isaac died, the journal died with him. It took a long time to feel grateful for anything but my faith that kept me from going under. I am going to try to pick it up again and add the other two categories—biggest smile and what did I learn.

  27. Oh Kate.., I am so sorry you had to experience this loss. I understand how gratitude was difficult to consider for awhile. I do encourage you to begin again and maybe even write a dedication to your grandson at the beginning. He will always be with you.

  28. I loved your video chat. I am usually joining you in the afternoon, but your blog is part of my afternoon tea ritual. I have journaled sporadically for several years. It is often during times of stress when it helps me clear my head. I keep telling myself that I want to make it a regular habit, but I let other things get in the way. You have inspired me to try again, even if I only write one or two lines. Thanks for sharing you sweet smile & delightful voice with us.

  29. Thanks for being here, Becky! You are so right that baby steps can make a big difference. If we go into a joy journal with the goal to write volumes, it may be soon that we stop. Just a little a day can help us focus on the positive side of life.

  30. Good afternoon,
I really enjoyed the video. I must have my morning coffee, and mid-morning, and afternoon coffee. I am trying to cut back a bit and get back to ice tea in the summer.

I liked your three categories. I do keep a gratitude journal and every night I write three specific things before I go to sleep. This has helped me reframe my day. I love journals and I’ll be on the “look out” for a new journal.

  31. Hi Pam! Your video was great — so positive and uplifting and a great way to start the week. I usually don’t get to your blog until the afternoon and it was the perfect midday pick-me-up I need!

Love the idea about the joy journal and I look forward to your Monday videos!

I was gifted a pretty journal recently so this is great timing!

  32. Video was great and table talk is a wonderful idea! You have a gentle soothing voice; perfect to get us going.
I’ve journaled at different times in my life; especially when Oprah was “big” on it. I never seem to keep it up for too long, but it is a great thing. I like the 3 points that you suggested to cover. That way it’s more focused. I used to write a whole recount of my day and it became too much. This way we sort of have a goal and it won’t seem tedious or repetitive.
Looking forward to what’s ahead with this!

  33. Thanks Nancy! Just journal bullet points! Then it doesn’t get overwhelming!

  34. What a treat to come here tired & stressed this afternoon & finding this wonderful video, Pamela. I started my day with a sick cat & a rushed trip to the vet — turns out she had an abscess on her bottom, infection & a high fever. We have a wonderful vet & within a half hour poor kitty had the abscess lanced & drained, antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory, subcutaneous fluids for dehydration & a lot of sympathy. By the time I got her home, not 40 minutes later, she was obviously feeling better, ate like a wolf, pulled her head cone off twice & is now sound sleep. I may join her! My sweet husband had tea ready for me & had gone out to get me sushi for a late lunch, so I sat here drinking tea with you. You are definitely going on my list of what I’m thankful for today (along with good vets, antibiotics, sushi, hot tea & loving spouses!).

I’ve kept a daily journal for years. Sometimes an entry will be a page or 2, sometimes just a line, but I always include a list of 5 things I’m grateful for. And if you want a fun exercise, list 100 things you’re grateful for — it may take you a single day to get all 100, it might take you months. Just try it & see what happens 🙂 Today I’m going to start adding your other two: what gave me my biggest smile, & what I learned. And what a wonderful way to start our week, Pam. Thank you so much!

  35. Enjoyed your video, Pam! I wouldn’t have known that you’re not totally comfortable with video if you hadn’t told us. You came across as comfortable and confident.

I’ve been keeping a gratitude journal for a couple of years. I don’t write in it every day, but I update it from time to time, especially when I have something special to be thankful for (like the recent news that grandchild #8 is on the way!) I keep it with my prayer journal and often write in it during my morning devotional time. I love looking back and reading what I wrote a year or two ago. It brings back such good memories and reminds me to be thankful all over again for my many blessings.
