Style Refresh 2021: New makeup update!

Style Refresh 2021: New Makeup Update

Happy Sunday, all!  Let’s keep my new style conversation going with Style Refresh 2021: New Makeup Update!

While in a Zoom meeting with Annie of CASTANOHEL, she told me that now I know I am a VIBRANT AUTUMN, I also need to warm up my makeup colors.

That meant revisiting blush, eyeshadow, mascara, brows, eyeliner and, of course, lips…so glad to have them back!

Honestly, I had never considered my makeup as part of my overall color story…but I now see the reasons for it. I was living as a WINTER and wearing cooler shades…not me!

Annie loves Jane Iredale makeup and so do I, but with a new direction I wanted to see, touch and experience the makeup.  Sadly, Jane Iredale is now offered online at Ulta, Nordstrom and Soft Surroundings.

That did not work for me for this moment.  I do not see me shopping online only makeup!

But, of course, my friends at Dillard’s in The Shops of La Cantera said...”Come on down and let’s have some fun at the Lancome counter”...as a result, I left with a new appreciation for this brand!

Style Refresh 2021: New Makeup Update

It makes so much difference when dealing with makeup to have expert assistance.

I began with a good cleaning and actually purchased the Jumbo Lait Galatee Confort Cleanser.  I went to the store makeup free with what I thought was a clean face.

It is embarrassing that their cotton proved otherwise.  Since I have been using this cleanser and the  at home, I can tell a lovely difference in my complexion! So far it has been worth the purchase!

They allowed me to try several skincare products before we actually got to talking makeup and it is always fun to learn about new products…I was impressed with these:

Advanced Genifique Light Pearl

Advanced Genifique Anti-Aging Face Serum

Absolue Revitalizing & Brightening Soft Cream with Grand Rose Extracts

Absolue Eye Premium Bx Absolute Replenishing Eye Cream

Absolue Precious Oil

Absolue Precious Cells Nourishing Lip Balm. (AMAZING)

After skincare pampering complete with an awesome neck massage, they brought out the makeup selected for my warm palette!

I learned so much about how it truly does make a difference to select makeup within your wardrobe color palette.  The beauty technician, Sarah, showed me colors I never would have selected for me previously.

I always learn tricks when I come to the counter and Sarah shared several. Here are the products we used for this makeover session:

Once again…be teachable.  I never would have selected that eyeshadow palette, but I love it and it is on my wish list.

I like to makeup my eyes a little more because I wear glasses and the way she taught me with this palette just made my hazel eyes shine!

For those who think makeup should be cool colors in the summer, I have discovered that no matter the season I want to look my absolute best...and if that means my autumn colors in summer months, so be it!

I do not typically wear foundation in the summer and I am going without it more and more, but I do see the benefit of getting my warmer colors right for everything else.

I also have learned to wear my deeper, warmer lip colors all of the time….again, why look washed out simply because it is summer.

My new style is vibrant…out loud…and I will continue to experiment with makeup colors going forward…and I will be dreaming of that Terre De Sienne eyeshadow palette.

MORE NEWS FOR ME!  I changed out my new lenses!  No more purple/blue eyes!

Thanks to Sheri, Laurie and Sarah at Dillard’s at the Shops of La Cantera.  Your Lancome session was so helpful to me at this time when I am changing…everything about my style.

I highly recommend you go see them if you are in San Antonio!!

Thanks so much for being here…I hope we are all learning new things together…I have more for you this week!  Now, go out and………….

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. It is very interesting to compare the photo of you in the monochromatic outfit (on the right of the article) and the one in those coral-soft brown outfit inside the article. I like you in both (sorry, I am not a colorimetry-believer at all), but I must say that the coral- brown gives (to me at least) an impression of a joyful and softer atmosphere. The mixture of the colors is particularly well chosen and suits you : this outfit is more like a framework for you to shine. Quite illuminating, thanks!

  2. Pam, your new look , style, colors have made you look so much fresher, younger and vibrant! Proof positive that getting color and style analyzed by a professional is so worth it. Love that you are taking us on this journey with you!

  3. I was more of a skeptic, Catherine, but this whole makeover has changed how I feel about the power of wearing the right colors. That old picture to the right will be gone soon!

  4. you look wonderful, i will check those items and shades out….i have loved lancome and estee lauder for decades. and those ladies behind the counter can have you parting with the house payment pretty quick, lol. but early on in my working career, our corporations NYC office brought all their people to Tulsa, where i was at the time….i learned so much from those women on clothes and make up, and Lancome and Estee were among those lessons…

  5. They did teach and we had fun. I did by three items and held on to the house payment! 😂

  6. You look fabulous in that first picture – new colors to wear and apply! It’s all a bit overwhelming for me right now- finding someone locally to identify my warm/or cool and personality. Then to identify my makeup colors based on that.
I have a feeling when I was typecast as Spring decades ago with fabric swatches – they might still accurate. It would be helpful to know though!

  7. I watched both Susan at Une Femme and now you update your look with color and style analysis and I am a true believer! While both of you have always looked put together and stylish, embracing your color palettes and style personalities has added that certain “je ne sais quoi”, transforming you from attractive to truly radiant. This is so evident when comparing your old photo with the new. I’m so excited you are on this journey, and can’t wait to see where it takes you next!

  8. Thank you for the encouragement, Kami. This feels so much like the authentic “me” and I look at the photo on the right and know that was a personal attempting to fit in a different world. That is why this is so refreshing and illuminating.

  9. As others have said, you really shine in your coral and brown clothing with your lovely wavy hair, and warm-colored makeup. It is indeed satisfying to realize what a difference it makes in how you see yourself, and how others see you when you feel comfortable “ in your skin” , so to speak. It definitely makes a huge difference when you shop since you can immediately avoid certain colors that you know do not fit your coloring. This continues to be an enjoyable, and learning experience as you lead us along on your journey.

  10. So glad to find that it is fun and interesting for the audience. I hope to inspire all of us in our journey in the second half of life to feel and look out best. Thanks for being here, Celia!

  11. I thought we had similar coloring until I saw this … you are a tiny bit warmer, and your eyes and brows are lighter than mine, which kind of reinforces my own thoughts that I’m a blue autumn. Thank you for doing this, as I too was typed a winter and it just didn’t work for me. I love and wear Lancôme foundation. I should have known I wasn’t a winter when the consultant pulled what she thought was my perfect shade (and it was!) and it was labeled as warm. Amazing what a little of the right color does for our skin.

  12. Has anyone had their makeup done and it looks great in the store and then by the time you get home you are orange? After years of failures I was fortunate to find a store that lets you wear it and actually suggests you go shop for an hour before letting you buy it.
I’m glad this makeover is lifting your spirits but agree with the reader that I think you look great in both your old and new pictures. It’s the smile that lights you up.

  13. When I got home with this make up, I was sad to take it off at the end of the day!! It worked so well for me.

  14. That is so true…my journey to become warmer in my total style had just been amazing!

  15. I’m curious about your new lenses Pam. Will they still offer the protection your eye doctor recently recommended for digital eye strain?

  16. Pamela,
I am so enjoying your journey! I, too, am a true believer. I was following Susan when she went to Red Leopard. and I gave it a lot of thought. I was typed as a spring 35 years ago, but it didn’t seem quite right for me, so I had strayed a bit. I noticed that my bright spring clothing was wearing me. I found an analyst here in Maine, whom I adore, and she typed me as an autumn, bold and deep. It makes so much sense. So happy now to follow another autumn on the journey. You look terrific, and I see such a difference in your confidence and demeanor. Kudos! I have attended more sessions with my gal for Signature Style, Wardrobe Planning , Accessories , etc. Although I may never meet Annie, she is my top ‘Autumn Person to Watch’ and I drink in everything that she posts. I feel the same way about checking in with you now. Great information!

  17. They believe these will. The blue light protection is still there but embedded differently and if I go back to tired eyes from work, then there is one more step they can take. Thank you for asking!

  18. Thank you for sharing Deborah and fir being here! Let us know any tips you have learned.

  19. I’m really enjoying your journey Pamela. I am an autumn as well and love the colours you are wearing now. You just come alive in them. It certainly makes a difference, just looking at the top two pictures on your blog shows that so clearly 😊

  20. I am curious as to your foundation color. Im 230 buff w (warm). I find if I follow you tube and know someone’s coloring and their choices, it really helps me choose lipsticks and other makeup.

  21. Pamela, this “renovated” Pamela is so exciting; such a great one; you look marvelous; and the side bang…? Yes, yes, yes!!

  22. My internet was out this morning and the only thing I was really missing was your post. Finally back and I am caught up. The right makeup just ties the whole thing together so I am glad you were able to find someone to help get it right. Being a vibrant autumn, does that mean that you can go a bit bolder with the eye makeup and perhaps add a touch of teal or eggplant? Did Annie suggest what would work best. Those warm colours are really enhancing the sparkle and the foundation makes you look so soft and flawless. I really enjoy watching you as you transform.

  23. So glad your internet issues got fixed, Diane…happy to have you here. Yes, I can still wear the eggplant purple in my eye palette and will probably do that occasionally…I am loving this new one just because it is new and really added some depth to my warm coloring.
Thanks for adding me to your day!

  24. I’m just loving watching your transformation, Pam; you look fabulous! And that you’re showing us all the aspects – clothing, hair, makeup, style personality – and how you’re wending your way through it all. It takes a while to process psychologically as well, I imagine. I say this because I’ve had to “rejigger” my wardrobe a bit over the past five years, as I let my natural silver hair come in. I’d had heavy highlighting/lowlighting in my dark blonde hair for thirty years – yikes! Though my hair isn’t quite lightning-strike white, it’s close to it. That demanded slight changes in some of my clothing and makeup colors. I’ve known that I’m a “summer” for years. By seeing your journey and checking out some of your resources, I hope they will help me in tweaking my look and style. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! p.s. I never thought you were a “winter”!

  25. Had to laugh at the bottom line of your comment…I think I was the last to know! Thank you for sharing and for the encouragement!

  26. I’m enjoying your journey and you have given me the impetus to get mine in gear. Since retiring 3 years ago, moving cross country, growing out a pixie cut and becoming totally white haired, I’ve been struggling with a fashion/beauty identity. On my list is a visit to either Macy’s Lancôme counter or the local Ulta since they are my only choices here. I was deemed an autumn years ago but with this shocking white hair and green/blue eyes I seriously doubt it. My fashion identity is somewhere between classic and hunts woman I think. Your last posts have been so formative!

  27. Super glad it has inspired you, Linda. I think after the pandemic, many of us need some new direction and inspiration. I know this has done wonders for me personally! Have fun with it…it shouldn’t be demoralizing but empowering.

  28. Huzzah!!! Just looking at your happy smile in these photos makes me grin & feel happy, Pam. That’s what it ought to be about — the joy: feeling comfortable in our own skins & good about ourselves & liking who we are. The world of advertising makes us doubt all that at times in its efforts to make us buy, buy, buy (the retail world depends on us feeling bad about ourselves so we’ll buy their products in an attempt to feel better & find the elusive “perfect”). It’s easy to get distracted, but once we get the plot back, it’s wonderful. So happy for you — and I know I keep saying “thank you” for including us on this journey of discovery, but I really mean it!

  29. I’ve been watching for a few weeks. Love all of your changes you’ve made, Hair, wardrobe, makeup!

  30. You have never looked better! I love your new wardrobe colors on you, and that includes your new makeup colors! You look fabulous! I enjoy your blog very much! Keep up the good work, and your new journey.😊
