  1. So many good articles…so little time! I read through several, but will have to go back later to look at others. I was in college in the late 60’s when mini skirts were becoming popular. I distinctly remember our Dean of Women requiring young ladies to kneel to see if their hems touched the ground which meant they were a decent length! Cannot imagine that happening in today’s world of “ it’s my right” thinking. I have not thought about the less expensive cashmere having an effect on the farmers or animals. The article on spokespersons wearing fashion made me think how limited is my recognition of “ famous” people. I was pleased to see that Destin/Ft. Walton Beach as listed as a top place for seniors to live as my Mr. B lived there before we met, and we have many friends there now. It does have beautiful beaches and many wonderful restaurants, but the tourists are there year-around, and traffic is horrible at times. We have friends who volunteered to work at Glacier National Park during the summer for several years. They had a wonderful time and unique experience. You obviously gave us much to think about today, and I’ve only read about half! Sorry to be so long-winded!

  2. You are always welcome to be long winded, Celia. Glad you are finding information of interest in these posts! Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I enjoyed that Travel Awaits site. I spent several minutes clicking through articles. It wasn’t all about travel, but more about retirement lifestyles, and several rang true. Thanks for putting it on my radar. I agree with Celia … who -are- these people modeling our (lack of :)) clothes? I remember for so long, decades, every single advertisement was directed at us baby boomers. I distinctly recall watching my first few ads that I thought were absolutely silly and juvenile, and realizing that they were aimed at a much younger audience. Now that’s constantly true (wet teddy bear, anyone?).

  4. Certainly a lot to read here! The fashion looks left me a little cold. I can guarantee they won’t be showing up up in our little town, people are pretty basic! I just can’t get into the clunky sandals and lug soles. I think they add weight and unless you are 16, can wreck a look. Definitely would never be considered elegant, and I still strive for that. I’m glad they show more normal models, but the “socially conscious” ad campaigns are a huge turn off for me. I was interested in the home features, having recently moved. My new place checks the boxes for size, entertaining, and minimal window treatments. I just don’t need the space I once did and lived in less than half of the house I sold. So much wasted space! Always interested in nutrition as we move along in life, but I’ll never completely give up some salty snacks and ice cream! Just have to remember to limit them!

  5. We are on the same page….can’t give up my salty snacks or ice cream. But I am finding different ways to do it. Thanks for sharing on these articles, Karen. Our voices are so important.

  6. LOL, Linda…we must keep our sense of humor as we watch things change. So glad you enjoyed Travel Awaits. The fun of doing this for you for me is to discover new places of information I have not seen before.
    Thanks!

  7. Great news roundup today. I especially like the Southern Living article and house plan. Also enjoyed your black and white fashions. I would love to find a pair of tiny check black and white or blue and white ankle pants or capris.
