Shopping Target with Leigh & me

Shopping Target with Leigh & Me

Happy Sunday, sunshine…at least hoping you have sunshine where you are!  Today, come shopping Target with Leigh & Me!

In our search for affordable fashions, Leigh Ann and I decided to take our road show shopping at Target…and in some ways, we were pleasantly surprised.

I do want to state at the front, that there are not many designs that are flattering to us curvy ladies.

You will see I did find a few I like, but you will also see my reflection in the mirror when I took Leigh Ann’s shots in outfits I deemed too unflattering to show you!

Also, someone used Target as a “slur” in yesterday’s post (not constructive!), however if you are looking at affordable, current clothing…it is worthy of your time.

So, there is a lot we were impressed with… let’s get started….

SHOPPING TARGET WITH LEIGH

As I have said before, Leigh Ann wear clothing really well and looks great in almost everything.

She and I both were impressed with these clothes…especially as we compared them to other brands with the same designs.

She is wearing the Universal Threads Women’s Flutter Short Sleeve Blouse in orange.

This top is paired with a Women’s High-rise tapered pant, also Universal Threads.  This color is ecru in a size 8, but online there is very little left.

She believed they are great pants and understands why they are selling fast.

NOTE: FOR SAN ANTONIO SHOPPERS, WE WERE IN THE TARGET IN THE VILLAGE AT STONE OAK. (Nice dressing rooms!)

Leigh Ann liked these shorts, but would’ve preferred a little longer length.

This little outfit is from the New Day collection.  She is wearing the Women’s High-rise pleat Front shorts in brown.

The top is the Women’s Short Sleeve Scoop Neck T-shirt.  This color is sold out, but they have a lovely green!

We both liked the designs in the Knox Rose collections.

This is the Women’s Puff Elbow Sleeve Blouse in a Medium.  Knox Rose items typically run smaller than the other lines.

Yet, this Knox Rose dress actually ran big…it is a Medium and she would’ve have needed a small to make it work.

But, it is a cute dress…Women’s Flutter Short Sleeve Dress in Navy Ikat.

At $12, Leigh Ann considered this dress a perfect throw on for summer errands dress and she purchased it.

She also reported back from home that it looks cute with a blouse over it giving the look of a top and green knit skirt.

This is the New Day Women’s Muscle Tank Dress in green.

My favorite garment (and the one I took home) is this New Day Women’s Linen Blazer in Orange.

I love a topper like this for warmer weather to go with my denim…and I have worn it several times already since last week….I will show you one way I styled it tomorrow!

I have it on here with a Women’s Dolman Short Sleeve Utility Button-Down Short Sleeve Shirt from Universal Threads in brown.  I liked the shirt (not with the blazer though!) It is available in several colors.

I really liked these sandals!  They are the Women’s Maddie Knotted Slide Sandals by Shade & Shore in a pink shade.

These sandals are really comfortable…if anyone else has hammer toes…they are great!

For a nice spring top, I do like the fit and feel of this Women’s Elbow Sleeve Gauze Button Down Shirt by Knox Rose.

It comes in three colors, but looks like pink is gone.

Here is another top from Knox Rose….

Eyelet is on trend this year and especially fun in San Antonio during Fiesta time.

This is the Women’s Short Sleeve Eyelet Shirt…in olive.

I will show you a different way to wear this one tomorrow!

Shopping Target

As stated, the quality at Target right now is impressive…in fact, we looked at each other once and said, “Good Job, Target!”

Here are a few we liked:

Very cute flat sandals…and many that would work well for pool or beach.

Here are some of our faves:

I loved the variety of cute little scarves…including this washable silk…that would go great on our necks, handbags, or hair.

Here are more for you to see…

Despite a few minor frustrations with the offerings for me, we had a great time Shopping Target with Leigh & me.

Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for being here as always…..now,

7 ways to look slimmer

  1. I love Target. Perfect for basics and athleisure wear. Universal Threads T-shirts are perfectly priced for home-chore-wear. I also have a couple of New Day T-shirts that are great for work. With all the penny-pinching at the grocery, Target offers some inexpensive options for adding a new color/style or replacing last year’s worn-out T’s. So no one should get snarky about Target.

  2. I agree, Holly. I have been very impressed with what they are doing in the style arena.

  3. You both look great in these clothes! I especially like Leigh Ann’s puff sleeve top and your orange blazer. And…..your video on slimming styles is so informative. Good advice for anyone to look polished.

  4. Well, I’ve found Target very hit or miss. Because I can’t count on finding something I need, for me, Target is a more “serendipitous find” place. Their accessories (especially colorful summer jewelry, scarves and totes) can be great. However, when I honestly look at my closet, not many pieces survive more than one purge. And I’ve had difficulty with shrinkage in some of their clothing. This is not a knock at Target. They are competing successfully in a tough retail environment, and few places do everything well. I just happen to prefer Marshall’s.

  5. I have not shopped at Target for clothing in years because I realized I could not find many petite sized items. However, seeing Leigh Ann with some appropriately sized items makes me rethink checking at Target again. I have read over the years that many depend on Target to replenish their basic tee shirts yearly for reasonable prices. I meant to tell you yesterday how much I loved your grandchildren pictures. My grandchildren are now much older with four in high school and one working as an electrician so I miss those cute, little, loving babies, but do enjoy seeing others’ babies and remembering their precocious nature.

  6. Leigh Ann found more than I did and was pleased with the fit. My adult children and my grandchildren love Target!

  7. I think as we go forward into these incredible inflationary times, we will need to know how to have some fun at places like Target, Marshall’s, TJ MAXX, and JC Penney’s. I don’t think many of us here will find the majority of our wardrobes at Target, but it is nice to know there are some things there. I was especially taken with the accessories and loved that the flat sandals were comfortable. Thanks Linda! (Note: I hang up all of my clothing to dry, but if I experience shrinkage in the three items I bought, I will report back to you)

  8. I’ll be heading to Target for smallish neck scarves and new belts for summer (white and natural jeans) . They have great accessories from time to time. Must watch fir new inventory here.
I’d have loved to see you closer up in the coral pieces you have on while photographing Leigh Ann. It looks very attractive!

  9. Thanks Paulette! I wasn’t feeling very confident in those looks. But the coral was super comfortable!

  10. Target is certainly not my “go to” for long term classic pieces for my wardrobe. HOWEVER, I have found many really fun, perhaps somewhat trendy pieces I wear on repeat. Target’s price point Keeps me from committing $$$$ in trends. I have a friend who will not buy clothing from Target, but when she complements an outfit she is amazed the retailer is Target. (I have not had issues laundering, but like you I take clothing out of the dryer before they dry. And I do shop carefully and analyze the construction and material.)

  11. I have never been a fan of Target’s clothing because as you noted, their plus size & curvy garments are lacking. Also, I prefer a more substantial fabric for my tees. That said, I have found some great accessories there. I did like your blazer, but the wrinkles in linen just drive me crazy.

  12. I understand, Becky. So far the linen in this jacket has not been bad. I will show you tomorrow one way I styled it!

  13. Welcome, if you read this blog on a daily basis you will see that comfortable flats are all I wear and I feature a lot of them. I hope you can stick with us, because you will a variety of styles and brands. I have what I call are “funky feet” with several issues, so I must wear flats and there are so many fun ones. Thanks for stopping by and just watch for what I show you…I have a couple in my post tomorrow.
    Hope to see you then.

  14. I have been very pleased with Universal Thread. I often go for slightly different colors and have found them in that brand at Target. One real winner was a lovely pale coral cross body bag. I seem to reach for it a lot and have gotten many compliments about it from younger women.

  15. Oh my goodness I would never ‘thumb my nose’ at low end stores/labels as if one is “a selective shopper” there are always bargains to be had and I wish we had Target here in Canada. With that said; prime example while making a run to Walmart (to stock up on my household cleaners) I recently purchased a white tank top for $12.00 Cdn. that will prove perfect for my needs as opaque, covers my bra straps, the neckline isn’t plunging but I went up a size after reading its fabric content as suspected it would shrink once tossed into the dryer which it did a tad, but no differently if it was 3x its price. With all that said; whether it be a high-end store you shop in or choice in label, IMO the same rules apply …. be savvy in your choices!

Footnote: I feel Suzi (above) makes some excellent points.

  16. I somewhat gave up on Target for anything but accessories when they cancelled the Merona line. I have Merona pieces that are more than ten years old and still very wearable, mostly cardigans or tops, but not tees. Your post has convinced me to take another look at these newer brands they are carrying. Also, I was in the Fort Worth J.Jill store exchanging an item when I mentioned your blog and how much I enjoy seeing you styling their fashions. The much younger sales clerk said she has heard that from quite a few shoppers, and she has started following you on Instagram to see how you are wearing their stuff! I was tickled to know that I’m not your only Fort Worth area fan. Thank you for continuing to be a bright spot in my internet feed!

  17. I have quite a few pieces of clothing from Target in my wardrobe. I like the Knox Rose line because it is so feminine. I’ve had good luck with the Universal Thread line — mostly some casual tops for weekends and walking. I don’t care for the derogatory remark about Target, either.

    Fun post today!!!

  18. Update. I have been on the hunt for the current trend of oversized linen blazer. Just not willing to spend over $100 to see if it works for me. Sooooo I located your orange blazer in a local Target and tried it on. Oh my Pam you undersold this blazer! It is perfection, color, material, construction, the lined panels and it hangs beautifully; at 1/3 the cost. I’m 5’3” with short waist and broad shoulders. (Just regret I didn’t order thru your link.). Thank you for what you do.

  19. Hi Suzi! I also agree it is perfection. I ordered the one in Navy stripes too!
