Would You Wear It – nature inspired

Would you Wear It

Happy Saturday! Welcome to Would You Wear It and today I am featuring nature inspired prints.

Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and I team up on Saturdays to ask WOULD YOU WEAR It in displays from two areas of the country.

We always learn so much during these exercises about the reasons women would wear an outfit or not wear an outfit.

So please be detailed and specific with your answers.

WOULD YOU WEAR IT – NATURE INSPIRED

Would You Wear It

I was struck by this display that the thread which tied the outfits was nature….one with flowers and one with…maybe…leaves?

Think about the nature prints…do the colors matter if you would wear them or the size of the prints?

I like the idea of the table in the display, but personally would be more creative with it.

You may always bring your ideas for styling the outfits or the display itself.

Would You Wear It

So, please look this lovely display over and tell us………………………………..

WOULD YOU WEAR IT???

Today’s display is from a very nice brand called Nic & Zoe and I mostly find it at Dillard’sHere are more of their garments (including some plus size and including today’s display):

WOULD YOU WEAR IT – STYLE ADJECTIVES

Would you wear it

This was such a fun week on Over 50 Feeling 40 as I began to work with readers and their style adjectives.

It is always so much fun to help other women decide what they want to say about themselves with what they wear.

These conversations were at the bottom of my “jacket” posts, so in case you missed them…check these out…and the comments are also worth the read….

Carlene’s Style

Marcia’s Style

Deborah’s Style (first time I have selected adjectives for a reader without knowing her)

JUST HAD TO BRAG A LITTLE

Would You Wear It

My oldest grandchild…first of six…is 9 and he created this picture of the Northern Lights in his art class at school.

I think it is amazing!  I cannot wait to frame a print of it….he truly amazed me with how he captured the lights.

Of course, this GIGI is very proud of them all!

I hope you have a lovely weekend scheduled with people you hold dear.

But, first make sure you comment on today’s display and then head over to A WELL STYLED LIFE and tell Jennifer what you think!

Thank you for being here……more style adjectives with readers next week!

  1. Your grandson has a real talent. I’d frame that too, it’s beautiful. I like the picture a lot more than this display! I think they missed an opportunity with having the table there. The first thing I noticed was how full that is. Like someone left the pants laying there and intended to come back and do something with them. Missed opportunity! I don’t care for the featured items, except the white ankle pants, I do like those and how they work with the navy. I love wearing white and navy together. The print on the dress just isn’t something I’d wear, though the sweater goes nicely with it. I like the hemline on the navy shirt very much, just not sure about the print, but I think I’d try that on because of the cut and the hemline. Another plunging neckline on the dress… and at a certain age, a lot of us don’t want to emphasize the chest area. I read once where you should stand in front of the mirror and draw your arms in, as if to hug yourself. You will then see by your skin and what it does if this is a look you should wear. The days of very open necklines are gone for me!! Worth trying to see!

  3. Hi Pam! Your grandson shows real talent! Yes to framing and displaying his art. Thus might inspire him to continue with his creative side.
I like todays off white ankle pant but not the top shown. Not certain why I don’t care for it other than I prefer solid or stripe or geometric
patterns in my tops. The skirt on left paired with the vibrant pink sweater is okay but not really my style either.

  4. You bring up some important points about prints. I haven’t worn florals in a while because I felt it aged me. Bit that’s because of the type of floral! There seem to always be tops and dresses that scream “elderly!” To me. This year I’m buying a few florals because the designs are more contemporary. And while I admire a single huge flower on a garment, at 4’11”, it’s not for me. I go for small to mid sized florals that have an allover pattern or are closer in tone to the background. As for these two, I never ever wear shirts below high hip because they make my already short legs look non existent! Same for anything other than full length pants. But the pink sweater and dress are a modified yes. Just the flower colors have to eliminate any orange or gold. I own several of those sweaters… love them even in 90 degrees! I don’t pay that price ( $100) – I found some on eBay!! Score!

  5. love the Northern lights picture! I would frame it also.
prints…well, its the colors that will draw me first, then I will pay attention to the actual print. I would lean more towards nature prints than I do animal prints.
and I pay attention to materials…the scrunchy material in the pretty blue blouse I stay away from. also the thin material of the pink sweater, both of those are going to be a challenge to launder and keep looking polished.

  6. Yes, wouldn’t that table have looked great if there was an array of colors of those pants that could be switched out for complementing the top? The sales associates need training!
I have a July wedding to attend. I actually would have ordered to try the Nic and Zoe top and sweater (the sweater calms it down considerably) if there wasn’t that wonky hem or there had been enough fabric to hem to the knee. It goes up too high on the side. These florals have a short wearing span in Maine. At least , for me, it wasn’t tiered. It might have been perfect for the month and barn wedding with coral sandals. I own a few of those tie sweaters from Nic and Zoe as well as Kettlewell. I love them. They are simple and lightweight, great for arm coverage. The other patterns shown are not organized enough for me, but I can see them on other style personalities. I loved some pieces in the slide show.
    Enjoyed this post!

  7. Meant to say that painting with my grandson is my favorite activity. That is a wonderful piece. I am happy to hear you are having a copy made to frame. He has an eye for color and composition!

  8. I love your grandson’s picture, and would say that he is a talented child. This Mamma has many grandchildren pictures from our five, and two of them seem very talented to me although I suppose we grandmothers are too biased! So far as today’s display and slideshow are concerned, I like many of the colorful tops although I’ve always felt that larger flowers, etc. were not a good fit for petite women such as I. However, I especially like several of the navy based blouses as I continue to be on the lookout for navy as opposed to black. I even liked the “ loopy leopard” blouse with the multi-colored cuffs. I’ve seen Jennifer wear the Nic and Zoe convertible topper that is featured on your first picture. It is so versatile as it can be worn in several different ways. I hope your Easter weekend is blessed and fun…don’t I remember you have a family barbecue this Sunday afternoon? Enjoy!

  9. The outfits are fine but nothing that sparks joy for me. Your grandson’s art, on the other hand, is pretty amazing!
    Happy Easter, Pam

  10. I like the white ankle pants and would give those a try. The blue floral top looks to be of a crinkly fabric, and I find those difficult to make look good following the first laundering, so no. The floral dress with pink sweater is a big YES, please! Wish I had it in my wardrobe right now, as I’m busy packing to leave for Mexico. Many of the prints in your carousel today would also be great. While these are not my day to day style at home in Oregon, I love to enjoy a more colorful and patterned wardrobe when on vacation.

  11. I love the northern lights so much I designed a bracelet using my version. Your grandson’s rendering is beautifully executed both in composition and achieving contrast using all dark colors, especially using all dark neutrals. That is hard to do! As for the display, Nic&Zoe made some of my favorite clothes in my “new me” closet and I’m a big fan of the brand for my style adjectives (they often do a casual, sporty element). I love how they do something interesting (one of my adjectives) to rather basic clothing. The blouse has that interesting collar. I’m not much for floral prints, but I like this blouse and would wear it. I like the dress too, but I do not look good in sweaters tied in the front.

  12. Not particularly fond of floral prints but do appreciate those that are modern in design. As to the display; would pass on all four items because of my personal taste however do like several items in your provided link but sadly our Cdn. $ is somewhat low right now so add shipping and taxes on top of it, the pricing on many items amount to eeks!
Last but not least; regarding the piece of artwork by your Grandson he is very talented indeed. (One of my Grand daughter’s (whom I am also teaching to sew) is also a budding artist and is beginning to dabble in more mediums which is encouraging. She just turned eleven.)
🌺 Wishing you and yours a blessed Easter, Pamela. 🌺 -Brenda-

  13. What a wonderful picture! I would frame & display it, too. As to the display, there is nothing here to spark my interest. The pink sweater is a lovely color but looks flimsy. The style & print of the dress are not my cup of tea. I like the print of the blouse, but I have never been a fan of crinkle fabric.
