Summer with Leigh & me: Talbot’s & Herb Gardens

Summer with Leigh & Me

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Welcome to Summer with Leigh & Me: Talbot’s & Herb Gardens!

As I have noted, Leigh Ann & I are all about turning Summer 2022 into a silver lining…so thanks for joining in Summer with Leigh & Me!

Today, we are focusing on a recent stop by Talbot’s and on herb gardens!

SUMMER WITH LEIGH & ME: TALBOT’S

Summer with Leigh & Me

Summer with Leigh & Me certainly includes an occasional stop by our favorite retailers and today we feature Talbot’s.

Please remember when we go, we are 80% looking for items you might be interested, and 20% shopping for ourselves.

On this trip, Leigh Ann and I went several different directions….

In this photo, she is wearing Tie Waist Shorts in Tarragon, with a top I cannot locate online, so must only be available in store.

However, this shorts would be so cute with the Classic Crewneck Tee

Summer with Leigh & Me

I liked the Raglan V-neck high-low sweater in Daisy with the Chatham Crop Pants.

It is a lightweight sweater which is in four beautiful colors.

Leigh Ann’s favorite this day was this Stripe Pigment Dyed Midi Dress in Port Blue/Indigo.

Today through June 19, all dresses and skirts are 30% off with the discount taken automatically at checkout.

If I looked as good as Leigh Ann does in Talbot’s skirts, I would be tempted to own them all!

Here she is modeling the Embroidered A-Line Skirt with Pima Bateau Neck Tank in the White/Camellia Rose color.

SUMMER WITH LEIGH & ME: TALBOT’S SALE RACK

Summer with Leigh & Me

I am well aware it is summer….but that is the best time to hit the clearance racks and find great pieces.

I also am aware there are climates north of me where you can wear some of these now!

The next two looks are from the sale racks.

This is the Fresh Lemons Intarsia Sweater with the Lemon Blossom Oblong Scarf (not on sale).

Summer with Leigh & Me

All three of these pieces are lovely and would be great finds to pick up for fall.

However, this look is a great example of why it pays off to visit the stores occasionally.

The white blouse and the brown pants are not currently online…but these pants are beautiful.

If I still worked in an office, I would have been tempted to buy them and hem them.

I am also wearing the Notch Collar Sweater Jacket in black…but available in other colors.

June and especially July are great times to stop by stores to check the sale area.

SUMMER WITH LEIGH & ME: HERB GARDENS

Summer with Leigh & Me

Back to our Summer 2022 list!  Leigh Ann and I both checked off plant an herb garden because we already grow fresh herbs.

Summer with Leigh & me

I am sure many of you agree…but there is nothing like adding fresh herbs to our meals and even creating our own pesto.

This week I cooked chicken in the crock pot and tossed in fresh basil, rosemary, and oregano.  The flavor boost is incredible and you can even taste it down into the meat.

I can so so much with one chicken and the broth…it is budget saving as well.

Summer with Leigh & Me

Leigh Ann grows her herbs along with a full thriving garden.

She stopped by recently with tomatoes and fresh herbs and that brings on a huge smile on my part.

I love home grown tomatoes so much.

Lately, I am addicted to a tomato sandwich with toasted sprouted grain bread, tomato slices, fresh spinach, basil and kale with a little melted Weight Watcher’s cheese over the veggies.

So good…I may go make one right now!

If you have any ideas with your fresh herbs you would like to share…please share them here!

We love to check more off our list from The Magnolia Journal!

Summer 2022 Silver Linings

Why the list?

  1. Herb garden, check! I have lots of herbs and even a few vegetables growing on my balcony and use them frequently. The bonus is that they look beautiful! Pam, I just love that jacket, shirt and pants that you are wearing! They do have the “Perfect Shirt” online and in the store and they don’t need ironing. That’s just the look of the day to me! You look amazing in that!! When I was at Talbot’s recently, I focused on the sale racks like you mentioned, and got outerwear and clothes that I put away for fall and winter. It will be fun to unpack them and have new things when the weather changes again. I love the lemon theme they featured this summer! So bright and cheerful! I picked up the leather lemon belt and a pin, and I’m watching for that scarf to go on sale.

  2. Thanks for finding the shirt, Karen! The pants are so beautiful! Love summer sales!

  3. Looks like a great day at Talbot’s. I agree with you it pays to check the sales even if not in season.
That tomato sandwich sounds great, will make one for lunch. Blessings

  4. I agree wholeheartedly with Karen, those pants are gorgeous on you, and would go with everything Vibrant Autumn. Great idea to go to a nice cool shop when it is so hot outside. I did that yesterday with a friend and you almost forget what it is like outside, and fun too.

  5. I recently got a great utility jacket from JJill and a faux leather jacket from Chicos, both on incredible clearance, and a winter tunic from Chicos for $9.98. I’ve been looking for the jackets in warmer palettes for a couple of seasons, and thanks to finally keeping a list on my phone, I know what I need out of season too. Both jackets together were under $100 with tax, less than 2/3 the price of one of the jackets alone. Shopping out of season is a great money saving tip! My own herbal idea isn’t new, but it’s a good one … I’ve been picking fresh mint, adding it to my water pitcher in the fridge, and then putting frozen strawberries in my glass to replace ice cubes. It’s very refreshing and I’m less reliant on diet beverages such as soda.

  6. Thanks for sharing Linda! I like the idea of keeping a list on your phone that you are watching the sales for…lots of great items out there now for autumn ladies!

  7. Talbots has some good sales for sure. I think it was yesterday they had a 70% off flash sale, and today it’s 50% off already marked down prices which is an excellent reduction. I’m grateful that they carry petites which I need, but surely wish it did not cost so much to ship. Talking about tomatoes, we fortunately live a mile from a farmers’ market so we have been eating ungassed tomatoes for some time now along with boiled peanuts and fresh peas. There’s a special pleasure in eating a tomato sandwich when the tomato has ripened on the vine.

  8. Pam, your escapades with Leigh are delightful! Fresh herbs are great! Here’s an idea: Marinate shrimp and then wrap each one in a large basil leaf and a small piece of prosciutto. Thread on skewers and grill. Heaven! It’s also fun to lay herbs on a towel and let them dry. Then crush and put in glass jars. You’ll have flavorful herbs all winter! Blessings to you, and thanks for sharing your fun summer with us.

  9. Looks like you two had a fun time shopping! I also have an herb garden. Last night in ceramics class we were learning to make impressions in our pieces using herbs and grasses, leaves. My contribution was lavender and another gal brought rosemary, so I used both and the effect was lovely. I can’t wait to fire them! The crushing of plant materials made the clay studio smell more like a florist’s shop. 🌼

  10. The first outfit on LeAnn with the green shorts is so attractive on her. Hope she got it. Too hot here right now for any sort of gardening. But that’s summer!

  11. Pam, those brown pants are gorgeous!! You look great in everything you tried on today (as does Leigh Ann). It must be so fun for the both of you to team up! I grow lots of herbs … basil, parsley, mint, tarragon, thyme and rosemary. My favorite is basil, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese with balsamic glaze drizzled over it all. I could eat that every day!!

  12. I know…lots of heat. I do my watering and a little yard work in the early morning hours. Thanks Susan.

  13. I love that too, Beth and have been eating alot of it lately. Thanks for the kind words on the outfits. I did not purchase the pants simply because I already have nice pants and no longer work in an office building. But they were tempting!

  14. My herbs are doing wonderfully this year though it hasn’t been overly warm – nice and comfyi would call it, with a few hot humid days thrown in, here and there. The rain has come mainly at night – just the way I like it.
Your Talbots looks are wonderful! I especially like the first look wuth both you and Leigh Ann! Great summery looking models. They really are on target with their spring-summer pieces!

  15. How I would love nighttime rain! I love it when clouds roll in about 4:00 and cool off the heat of the day. For now, it is only a dream. Local meteorologists say….nothing but heat for a long, long time. Enjoy yours!

  16. I found the top online that Leigh is wearing …. SLUB V-NECK SWEATER – TROPICAL LEAVES
Style # P222121307 The color is Gulf Stream. It looks like a great top!
