Tomorrow I can really Welcome October!

Welcome October!

Happy Friday, friends!  October has always been one of my favorite months, but this year I will be yelling WELCOME OCTOBER!

I went off the grid on Tuesday, and I want thank all of the sweet ones who sent emails to check on me.

Honestly, September has been a very tough month for my family and I am happy to wave goodbye to it.

This month we faced serious medical events with my oldest grandson, Mr. B, and this week with me!

Monday morning, I felt great and was out tackling the day, but in the afternoon was hit hard with a wave of nausea and throwing up that went from 2 PM through Tuesday.

Mr. B took me to the emergency room Monday night because I was dehydrated and my stomach would not settle.

In the emergency room, I completely passed out cold.

SO, I WILL WELCOME OCTOBER…GOODBYE SEPTEMBER

Since Monday, the phrase I have heard the most is “because you are over 65” we are required to do certain things and hold on to you.

Believe me, I am more aware now than ever before that I am over 65!

But, I do want to thank the excellent staff, especially the nurses at Sonterra Methodist Hospital for great care through last night.

I am sending a big shout out to Claire and Ramona…they are great nurses.

After many tests, I was diagnosed with a severe stomach virus, but could not go home until I kept down solid food, had better blood tests, and received many bags of fluids.

Full disclosure:  I wrote the Ross post as I was getting sick and it was not one of my best.  Thanks for the great participation with it, but I promise not to write when feeling bad in the future.

I will be here tomorrow to Welcome October full on with Jennifer on Would You Wear It?

Yes, it has been a difficult September, but nothing like what Florida and other states are experiencing.  They need our prayers and support.

I will see you tomorrow ready to begin my favorite month in style and promise to……………………………

  1. Pam, I am so sorry to hear about your illness as well as the issues with Mr. B and your grandson. Sending you a hug! Welcome October and may it bring you many blessings!

  2. I kept checking to see if my Internet was failing. I missed you. I am so thankful you were diagnosed and are better. So sorry you were so sick.

  3. So happy to see your post this morning, and know that you are okay, or at least, better than you were a few days ago! Anyone can get sick, but it seems that when those of us “over 65” get sick, one thing affects another and another so we may seem more sick than younger individuals. When I get up each morning and pick up my iPad, your post is the first thing I look at. I first thought that maybe you were like Jennifer and trying to cut back on your days you’d post, or that something stressful was happening with your house construction. I’m sure that a daily post might cause pressure, especially if other matters in your life were also stressing. Guess I’m rambling on to say that I was worried, and am so thankful you are feeling much, much better. Hope you can “ keep smiling”! ❤️

  4. Thanks Celia! I love posting daily. It is something I truly enjoy. It will take me a little while for full recovery but I hope to be back up to speed soon.

  5. So sorry to hear how sick you were, and glad you are starting on the road to your best self again. It makes such a difference when we get wonderful nurses to look after us. I was checking your sites to see if there was any info and was very relieved to see your name in the inbox this morning. Sending good thoughts and prayers for Mr. B and your grandson as well. Glad to have you back.

  6. Pam, it is so good to hear from you and know you are OK. We love your daily posts, but sometimes you need to rest and slow down a bit, and this is one of those times. God bless you, and we are praying for you and your family.

  7. Oh Pam, I am so sorry you were so ill and glad you are doing better. Please take care of yourself. Sending prayers for full recoveries for your grandson, Mr. B and you! Happy almost October!

  8. Continued prayers for your health, and for your dear family. I know you are such a go-getter, but please try to take a little extra time to just relax and heal. We all care so very much for you. 💗

  9. Pam, I was a little worried when we didn’t hear from you yesterday. I feel like we’re friends so it’s so good to hear from you. Hope Mr. B is okay and I just want to wish you (both) a speedy recovery! Being sick is the worst. I love October, too, so here’s to the happiest October ever!

  10. I. too, thought something had happened to the internet when I didn’t see your posts. I am so glad that you are on the road to recovery. That horrible stomach virus hit my whole son’s family. It is not fun at all. There is so much going around now including COVID which is ever present. We just got home from a trip to be with friends in NM and my husband came down with COVID. I thought we would be spared but that was the not the case.
Take this time to rest and take in all of the beautiful weather that we now have in SA!
    Hugs!

  11. Sending you good wishes for a speedy recovery and prayers for your grandson and husband. I wake up every morning looking for your blog, Jennifer’s and wordle! I do miss you when you don’t post but, hey, you have a life!! Rest up and get healthy!

  12. Thank you, Linda! I want everyone to know that I love posting daily and also miss it when something likes this happens! I miss you too!

  13. I was wondering what happened to you!! I thought I was cut off from getting your emails. Then I thought maybe something happened and believe it or not I started praying for you. Amazing how we can a close relationship to someone we met online.
    Glad your ok.
Yes sometimes we can’t wait to have a month or even a year pass by and move on. Hopefully things will be better moving forward.

  14. I hoped you were not ill, but also honestly hoped you were taking a day off. Dehydration is a such a terrible thing. My husband and I were just talking about not “powering through” like we chose to do in younger years, and use the medical care we are lucky to have. So he saw an ortho dr for severe knee pain he had been “powering through”, only to find out he needs a knee replacement. I’m glad he didn’t wait until he wrecked the other knee compensating. Long story to say, bless your caring husband taking you to the ER. Just prayed for all of you.

  15. Oh Paula, it blesses me so much that you began to pray…that was really needed and I do think God connects virtually as well as personally.
    Thanks so much.

  16. I cannot believe how many IV bags of fluid have been pumped into me this week. It truly is amazing how dehydrated I was. I hope his surgery goes well. We have many friends who have recovered beautifully from knee replacement. It is now much easier to do.

  17. Whew! Good-bye September is right! Yesterday I was looking back in my emails for you and figured something was up. Missed you. Glad to hear you’re on the slow mend. Please take care. So sorry to hear about your grandson and Mr. B. too.

  18. I, too, missed your post yesterday. I don’t comment often but I follow you faithfully and care about you and your family. I’m praying thanks for good medical care and speedy recovery for you and your husband and grandson. God provides blessings all year, but I always look forward to the cooler (relatively speaking) temps and my birthday as well as more opportunities to be with friends and family as the holidays approach.

  19. So sorry to hear of your difficult month. Honestly, it makes me feel better (is that weird) because we had some family sadness also this past month. October is my birthday month and I’m ready to move on!

  20. Glad to know that you are okay! Here at our house, we’re under the weather too. Both hubby and I have Covid! Thankfully, it’s a mild case for both of us, but enough to keep us from celebrating all the things we love about October with family this weekend… an early Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving is usually celebrated the second weekend of October, but our kids were available this weekend), our 46th wedding anniversary on Sunday, and my 70th birthday early next week. The kids are going to get together without us, but we’ll celebrate later when we’re well again. Praying that your grandson is okay!

  21. Thank you, Elaine. He is improving and I hope you are back to full strength as well soon!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  22. Dear Pam: So glad you are all right. Dehydration can lead to kidney failure so good on your husband for getting you to the ER. Sorry to hear you had to deal with the stomach bug. And yes, being over 65 brings its joys and annoyances. However, the other part of it is, it does take longer to bounce back so be sure to give yourself time. Thank you for your wonderful posts. I did not notice anything wrong with the Ross post and found the items modeled interesting. Hugs from cyberspace.

  23. I was very concerned for you & am glad to see you today. Several years ago, my husband was hospitalized with dehydration from a nasty stomach virus, so I am well aware of the havoc it can cause. Prayers going out for you, Mr. B & your grandson. Take care & may October (one of my favorite months, too) may filled with health & happiness.

  24. I have been a bit worried; thanks for filling us in. You are so loyal to your fans. My day was a bit off with not being able to see you. We depend upon your daily dose, but you need to take care of yourself and not rush recovery! Sending best wishes!

  25. Oh, Pam, so sad to hear about you, Mr. B, and grandson being ill! I, too, kept checking my inbox wondering if you were okay and hoping that you were. My husband (and I) spent 4 hours in the ER Monday night getting things checked out. He’s fine, but, as your nurses said, we don’t bounce back as quickly after 65 — even just lack of sleep, and yes, they do let you know your age. -:) Sometimes, rarely, there are months when everything just seems wrong or off, and all you can do is wait them out. So yay for October and turning a new leaf — pun intended! We’re in southern Maine now, and the leaves are just starting to color. Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery!

  26. I became worried about you when your blog was missing for several days. Reading about your illness as well as your grandson and husband being sick was troubling, but I am so thankful all are healing. You are a bright spot in so many followers’ lives with your sweet spirit and lovely smile. I follow you daily and am thankful for your knowledge, advice and enthusiasm for life.
Please pamper yourself while you heal and enjoy our fall months.

  27. I’m so glad to hear that you are doing better! We all missed you yesterday. Hope Mr. B and your little grandson are also recovering. Get some rest and enjoy this beautiful upcoming month!

  28. So glad you are better . I just had my gall bladder out Tuesday after having a pancreatitis attack earlier so I sure know what you mean about “ for your age “ comments “ .. 😳we just don’t bounce back as fast .but we do eventually ! . glad you went to hospital and didn’t dismiss it . Hope your other family members are ok too !be good to yourself .. sending lots of love .

  29. I missed you sweet Pam and had a hunch something was not right.I love reading your posts, even though I don’t comment much. Wishing you a speedy recovery and best wishes to your darling husband and grandson to get better too.Sending virtual hugs from Melbourne.Australia.

  30. I wondered what had happened. I’m so sorry to hear about all the health issues. I hope all 3 of you are doing much better. It’s really hard to worry about the kids. It’s not immediate family for me but it’s been a difficult month for several friends.
    Take care of yourself!
