Fredericksburg TX: 5 top picks

Fredericksburg TX

Happy Thursday and welcome!  Today I am sharing from our recent road trip to Fredericksburg TX, our 5 top pics.

On Tuesday, I showed you the beginning of our short road trip to Fredericksburg TX.

I explained that on this trip Mr. B and I were purposeful to visit new places from wineries to retail.

Today, I have our five top picks from among all the places we visited for the first time.

FREDERICKSBURG TX: PICK NUMBER ONE

Fredericksburg TX

This road trip was quickly put together for a very special evening that I will share with you on Sunday.

Since we were only staying over one night, I did not want to go with one of the really nice bed & breakfasts because we did not plan to spend much time where we stayed.

This was the morning that greeted me on Monday out my little patio at the Peachtree Inn & Suites...and it was a great deal.

Yes, it is older and not a fancy place.  But, I really liked the little cabin design with a kitchen, very comfy bed, and ceiling fan above the bed (which matters to me!)

If we ever go back, they do allow pets, so Tux could go along.

I recommend it….perfect for $100 a night.  In Fredericksburg TX…that is a great deal, and I would go back.

FREDERICKSBURG TX: PICK NUMBER TWO

Fredericksburg TX

Mr. B researched the breakfast options and he did an excellent job with his selections.

I am so glad we did great quantities of walking all day…or I would look like Jelly Belly.

By the way, I am wearing the Windowpane Wrap from LOFT over a St. John’s Bay Womens V Neck Tee in Rifle Green, and my INC. Skinny Curvy Jeans.

First, our pick for breakfast food is pick number two.

The Old German Bakery and Restaurant is fabulous!

I have never tried a German pancake and it is so good (has a hint of lemon in it) but is way too much for one person…Mr. B enjoyed adding some to his sausage meal.

And, I am sorry I did not photograph the bakery…but all of it looked scrumptious.

They had good coffee…but our favorite coffee house is pick number three.

FREDERICKSBURG TX: PICK NUMBER THREE

Fredericksburg TX

As I said, Mr. B discovered RockHaus Coffee and we stopped by both days we were there.

I honestly believe this is the best coffee I have ever tasted…the roast is so good.

Like the winery from Tuesday, this coffee shop is no fuss…all coffee.  So good.

They do not have a website, but they are located on Main.

While the barista is working on your brew, RockHaus does have a fun shop to spend time for treasure hunting.

FREDERICKSBURG TX: PICK NUMBER FOUR

Fredericksburg TX

We have walked by Fredericksburg Jewelers several times and never gone in…so glad that we did this time.

This is much more than a jewelry store…it is honestly more like visiting an art museum.

While they have lovely pieces of jewelry, they also feature creations from local artists that are gorgeous and some are mesmerizing.

The majority are by Native American artists.

I am just skimming the surface here.  There Is so much to see and spend time with in this store.

FREDERICKSBURG TX: PICK NUMBER FIVE

Fredericksburg TX

In the top picture of today’s post, I am standing in a new home decor store (to us) that we both loved.

It is called eWay Furniture and is on Main Street.

I was not only impressed with their selections but also felt the prices were very reasonable for the quality they offer.

I could have gone crazy in eWay, but I did select a couple of small decorative items for the new bathroom.

And Mr. B found a new artwork for our front room and we both liked it….I will show you when we get that room put back together.

On most of our trips to or through Fredericksburg, we make quick stops at our favorite places, so it was so much fun to discover new places on this trip.

Every shop we went into had it’s charm, but these are our favorites…except for my pick for best clothing boutique…which I will share with you tomorrow.

Hope to see you then…thank you for joining me in Fredericksburg TX today!  Hopefully, I will see you tomorrow!

KEEP SMILING!

  1. WhAt a lovely town! I have only visited Austin and Houston. You make me want to spend a month or two in Texas just to explore. I am happy to hear that you picked up a few items to showcase in your ‘new’ digs. You will have fun putting your houses back in order. The clock is ticking!

  2. The Texas Hill Country including San Antonio is where to visit in Texas if you can only do a short trip. If you want big cities do Austin, Houston and Dallas. If you want more culture and quaint shops, the it’s the hill country. I know I am prejudiced, but Texas is an amazing state!

  3. What a lovely visit in Fredericksburg! I’d definitely be looking for that coffee shop were we to visit, and that jewelry store is not just any jewelry store. What unusual but beautiful pieces of art created by Native American artisans from the local gemstones and clay material. I fortunately have several turquoise items made by Navaho and Zuni artisans, but would so enjoy buying additional pieces of their work. Thank you for letting us see this town through your eyes…I understand why it was on your list of places to visit.

  4. I live in Texas and have wanted to visit Fredericksburg and Jefferson. That’s for reminding me!

  5. It’s so interesting to see the furniture and home accessories that are featured in Texas because it’s so warm/inviting. I love it! I’m a traditional furniture person and in my “neck of the woods” mid-century modern is being pushed….hate it! It’s very difficult to find anything I would like to add to my home unless I want to shop at the very expensive furniture stores and art galleries. I enjoyed your shopping trip and drool at the pictures! Great blog.

  6. I think that is the main reason I love this trip…the whole town and shops are so warm and inviting….and that is my preference. I also am not a modern decorator. There is even a sign going into town that says HYGGE TX!

  7. Wow! Looks wonderful. I love those “we got the best wine (or coffee), who needs fancy tourist trappings” kind of places. Fredericksburg has been on my radar for years, since 40 years ago when I used to devour a magazine called Colonial Homes, and they would have articles on antiquing stops. We have a bucket list of visiting all the presidential libraries, so we could combine Austin, Fredericksburg, and the LBJ ranch for a trip. Hmmmm….. we are done traveling for 2023 in February (new grandbaby, knee replacement for my hubby), but I might just fire up the internet and start looking at vrbo.

  8. What a lovely trip! You found so many treasured places to visit. Mr. M. was just saying he needed a vacation, maybe a weekend at a local town would be just the ticket. –You look so cute with Mr. Jelly Belly!

  9. LOL! I love that we have so many wonderful places to road trip to in Texas…makes it fun!

  10. If you like history Fredericksburg also has the wonderful National Museum of the Pacific War. It’s so interesting and such a tribute to the men and women who fought for our freedom.

  11. Absolutely Linlee! Mr. B cannot spend enough time there. He thinks it is an excellent museum!

  12. We visit Fredericksburg every time we visit Texas. We love the Hill Country for motorcycle riding. Beautiful countryside with lovely wild flowers in the ditch in the spring. Also love the shopping in Fredericksburg. Great place to visit.

  13. Fredericksburg looks so charming and quaint! You have me craving that RockHaus coffee. I wish they sold beans online! I love your tours of Texas for us, your readers. Visiting your state is on my bucket list. My kids know this and my son and daughter-in-law gave me a tea bag holder shaped like the state of Texas and a bluebonnets dish towel for my birthday. : )

  14. I have never done this on a motorcycle but the Texas Hill Country is so pretty, I can see where it would be a great place to bike!

  15. What a fun little trip you had! I love German pancakes so would have ordered the same. I clicked into the Peachtree’s website. What a charming find! So many wonderful recommendations for that area, so when I make my trip to Texas I’ll be sure to visit Fredricksburg. When is the wildflower season your hill country is known for, Pam?

  16. It is usually March. We have been in a drought, so if that does not change the Wildflowers will not be as vibrant as they are during rainy times. But, March through April is lovely for the bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes.

  17. Pam, thanks for bringing us along on your visit to Fredericksburg. I’ve never been to Texas but enjoy learning about it’s many different areas through your blog. Here in New England the past week has been sunny and mild but that won’t last.

  18. Enjoy it while you have it Virginia. We have a week of heat forecast next week and I would love for it to change!

  19. This road trip looks like the perfect overnight getaway trip Pam! And that Jeweler’s display caught my eye —especially the delicious necklace to the right of the tall piece. Yummy looking on a scoop necked top I have.
I’ll be patient to see what tomorrow brings!

  20. We always stay at the Peach Tree, in one of cabins in the back. We are still finding new things even after all these years and dozens of trips. It is one of our favorite places. We also love Santa Fe, New Mexico. Lots of artsy things and great food.

  21. First wine and then coffee, who knew? You were fortunate to find both in Fredericksburg! I don’t know whether you’d want to try this, but I recommend George Howell, who’s been in the coffee business for 50 years. He’s forged relationships with growers and producers and has great info on his website – https://georgehowellcoffee.com/. Looking forward to fall fashion Friday.
