  1. The article on Mary McFadden brought me back to the 1970’s when I was a student at The Fashion Institute of Technology then later living and working in the industry in NYC. WWD was the bible. Nice to know at 85 she’s still active. Married 11 times?? Wow. Also, those fashion videos are always fun to watch and inspiring.

  2. Thanks for sharing, Linda. How cool that you went to FIT. Married 11 times sounds exhausting and a bit nuts! Thanks for being here…..

  3. The cucumber pasta salad sounds delicious & refreshing. I’m going to make it this week. Maybe add smoked salmon?

  4. The Alice in Wonderland tea sounds like so much fun. Their picture of the heart-shaped watermelon in the salad presentation inspires me to do the same. I was also drawn to the recipe for quiche using puff pastry – that certainly made a beautiful crust, and the ingredients are flavors I love. Finally, that cucumber pasta salad reminds me we are inching closer to picnic season. With our park concert series, I could see making all three of these recipes this summer! Hope your day is filled with Joy! 🌻

  5. That sounds good with the salmon, Susan. Let us know what you think after you make it!

  6. I love park concerts…I agree, Connie…that the cucumber salad sounds perfect for a summer evening at the concert.

  7. Thanks for sharing the video on maintaining muscle strength. I’ve watch several older loved ones suffer sarcopenia, or muscle wasting. Interestingly, and this is no way scientific, those I’ve watched struggle with sarcopenia were mostly women who grew up in a time when being thin was the ideal, were constantly restricting calories, and any exercise was limited to cardio to burn fat (strength training was avoided
because it would make you bulk up like a man). Several were also smokers.
I’m almost 56 and I started working out with weights about 10 years ago, and more seriously within in the last few years. I think the strength training helped ease me through menopause. No one would call me skinny, and my knees and back still ache some days, but I feel strong, healthy and confident as I get older.

  8. I have got to get back to strength training, Lori…it turned everything around for my health when I began in my early 60s. I highly recommend for any age on some level. Thanks

  9. I watched the video on sarcopenia and a few other videos from her. I like how she seems to know that there are differing exercise abilities among seniors. Both the “age doesn’t matter” and the “everything in a chair” approaches frustrate me.
On another topic…will there be a video from Brian on last Saturday’s event?

  10. Since I will be painting my living area & entry this summer, I appreciated the articles on paint colors. I found the article on coffee grounds quite interesting. Since I don’t drink coffee, I recently tossed a partially used container of coffee grounds that had been sitting in my pantry for over a year & a half. Now, I wish I’d saved it. I eat a lot of salads as meals in the warmer weather, so the cucumber pasta salad sounds good. I might try Susan’s idea of adding smoked salmon or even tuna or shrimp. I enjoyed the video. Great ideas for making outfits by mixing & matching a few simple pieces.

  11. McFadden is only 5 years older and has been married 11 times! Sad. It is great that she is still active and traveling. On the video, I loved the silky white pants but would have zero need for such dressy slacks. I can’t see doing laundry and mopping floors with them on. But lovely to look at.

  12. During lockdown I started watching Music Choice on my TV. I love the music of the 30s, 40s and 50s—my parents’ music. I googled these artists of the Greatest Generation and found many had multiple marriages and relationships, scandals, money problems, addictions. I think fame, power and money can often bring difficulties to people of any generation, Mary McFadden included.

  13. I am so glad you got ideas for paint colors as well as everything else!

  14. It would be difficult to choose a favorite article today. You provide such a wonderful variety. I always love the fashion videos. Thank you!

  15. I especially enjoyed the Luxe Look on High Street article, but not as much as the hilarious comments that followed! Also the article about El Nino which lead me to an article about gardening temperature zones that was also interesting. Always enjoy fashion videos, and I learned my skin is aging pretty well. Thank you for recommending these articles…..I would never come across them otherwise.

  16. Lots of great information Pam- thank you! Particularly liked the article about health benefits of olive oil and the recipes. By the way, has the winner for the Easy Spirit giveaway been announced?

  17. Yes…it was announced on Instagram and Facebook. Her name is Sharon Favre. I hope to do more of these for you, Mary. Thanks so much.
