2024 Fashion Trends: Sailor Pants
Happy Saturday, everyone…last day of August 2024! It is the day we have fashion fun…2024 Fashion Trends: Sailor Pants is our trend focus.
For the entire year, I have featured one of the 2024 fashion trends every Saturday, so you understand why you see these colors and designs in multiple places.
There are women over 50 who enjoy the trends and will use them to make sure their looks are current.
And there are some who do not follow the trends…whether you do or don’t it is always fun to see what the trends are.
So, once again on this lovely Saturday, let’s look over the next in line for the 2024 Fashion Trends.
2024 FASHION TRENDS: SAILOR PANTS
As with all trends, this one has many names…sailor, double-buttons, multi-buttons, wide-leg pants.
They also come with options of button the pants where the buttons are on both sides, button fronts, and pull-ons.
I think my favorites of all the ones I have seen would be the pull-ons…they seem to be the most flattering pant.
I really like this one from RALPH LAUREN…the STRETCH JERSEY WIDE LEG PANT in navy.
The Talbots SAILOR PANTS is one of the button front designs and so far, the one that I like the most.
Just about every single retailer has their own sailor, pant. Just go to SHOPPING LINKS and find your favorite retailer and search sailor pants or double button pants.
Of course, there are ways to save money on sailor pants in the 2024 Fashion Trends.
I saw these at Marshall’s just yesterday….for ladies with curves.
And if you like to shop HSN, then consider the pull-on version TWRHILL BY CHRISTIE BRINKLEY, called the TWRHILL BY CHRISTIE BRINKLEY FRONT BUTTON DETAIL PANT.
The only one that caused me pause was Ralph Lauren…and they do have this pant at

Glad u are OK
Those are snazzy pants with the buttons love those. Something different.
Oh to have a body where I was able to accentuate my waist and stomach. Maybe in my next life. LOL. Congratulations to all who can.
Hi, Pam. These pants are super cute but need some thought about styling. They seem to look best on a tall slim woman, and the top needs to be tucked or a little on the short side. This sounds like a lot of work, haha. š It might be good to try them out at an inexpensive store, like Marshall’s. What does everyone think? Any ideas on styling for us girls who are not 6 ft tall?
Yes! I second the motion!
They are fun!
Would love to see those ideas as well!
While I like many of this fallās trends (leopard, green, burgundy, shorter jackets), I canāt get āon boardā hehe with the sailor pants. The buttons look fussy to my eye, and would highlight my tummy. I was babysitting my grandson yesterday, and didnāt get to your post ā¦ glad you are ok! Of course I ā¦ and you ā¦ knew you would overdo. While itās a scary lesson, my perspective is that there are times we really do need to overdo. My back is tired today from all the toddler lifting I did the last few days, but it needed to be done. While you likely could have (certainly should have) paced yourself better, moving is a huge job, even if you have people to pack. I hope you can give yourself some grace.
Very cute style. These were popular back in the 1970s when I had the figure to wear them. I have a picture of me 50 years ago wearing them with platform sandals and a very cropped top. LOL. My waistline is not as small as it was then and my tummy not as flat. I will pass this time around.
I will, Linda. I do not really have time to ponder it…just need to go forward and be aware. Thanks so much.
I have always thought the nautical style was cute and I liked to dress my daughter in it when she was young. But, I would end up covering the cute buttons with a longer top…maybe someday I could do these but not now.
The buttons are so distracting and compete with other accessories. I will pass on this trend.
Thanks MP!
I like the sailor pants, but again, the width of the flare on some of them does give me pause. I guess for this fall, I will pass.
While I think these pants are cute for others, not for me. I feel most comfortable in simple lines now; hence no ruffles, hip buttons, bows or other fussy details.
Thanks for joining in, Audrey.
Thanks for sharing, Kathy!
I love the pants with the buttons on both sides. Love the ones from Chicos, I have several of them, light denim, 2 dark denim, 2 in black denim. All have flare leg.
Oh, like Kathie, I also had these in the 70’s, and looked great in them. Now, I would feel that it draws attention to both the hip width and the fibroidy lower belly, so have to pass. I also had a sailor collared sweater in navy and white which would work for me again, if only this were the trend now instead of pants! āŗļø
Thanks for sharing, Linda! Nice to here from a fan of the trend!
I bet we see nautical this spring! Hang on to it, Connie.
Iām with most everyone about the buttons bringing the eye down. My hips are still slim but I have a round belly and fuller waist. But if I choose a style it would be Chicos. Iām able to wear their pants and look good in them. Iām hoping that you are getting some rest and relaxation this weekend. I had my MRI yesterday and broke the machine. I blew a huge breaker and it shut off with 44 seconds left of shooting pictures! I was on that tiny table and strapped down freezing by the way, for 2 hours! But they got it going again and got the last picture. What an experience! It felt so good to walk outside into the warm sun! It is going to be cooler here, only in the 80s.
I like the look of the sailor pants on these lovely models, but having short legs & a somewhat round figure, I’m not sure that they would look good on me. For those ladies with long legs, I’m sure you would look fabulous.
First off Pamela, have just read your last Lifestyle post and am sorry to learn you recently experienced a health episode so do hope you are treating yourself with some TLC. As to sailor pants their design is something that has never appealed to me; similar to that of epaulets often seen on jackets or coats that I also don’t care for as too uniform for my liking. With that being said; ‘this is just me and to each their own’. -Brenda-
Thanks for joining in, Brenda! I am well on the road to recovery!
