Planning fall outfits with J.Jill

fall outfits with J.Jill

Happy Friday, ladies!  Today, I am planning fall outfits with J.Jill.

Can you tell I am super excited to be moving someplace that has more fall cool breezes than South Texas does?

I am already planning fall outfits with J.Jill and having so much fun with it as I combine past and new purchases.

Outside today in San Antonio?  Well,  going forward the heat will be approaching 105, 107, and, hopefully, stop there.

It is a lot more fun to be in the air conditioning inside planning fall outfits with J.Jill.

So, join me as we discuss my future fall outfits…sorry about the boxes and clutter, it will be a necessary evil for about six weeks.

PLANNING FALL OUTFITS WITH J.JILL: PAST PURCHASES

Without knowing, I believe I was planning fall outfits with J.JILL as far back as last year.

I watched this double breasted jacket from the time it was a new arrival at J.JILL…I loved it.

However, living in a warm climate caused me to wait since I did not expect to wear it often.

I watched it through several markdowns, and when it was available on a flash sale day, I decided, “Let’s do this.”  And I bought it for $30.

PLANNING FALL OUTFITS WITH J.JILL WITH JEANS

My “uniform” for fall outfits will be built around jeans.  I love jeans and can dress them up or down.

This jacket will look great with all of the colors of jeans that I have.

There is a similar single breasted jacket on sale now that could be styled the same way….THE CURVED HEM DENIM JACKET.

I am wearing it over a V neck brown sweater that I purchased at the same time on sale.

Both of these garments have been waiting for my fall outfits with J.Jill…still have tags on.

These PURE JILL AFFINITY SLIM LEG PANTS in the color sandstone is another “comfort” piece.

With Tencel in the fabric blend these are super soft and…ans dare I say… I say cozy.

Perfect for at home days.

PLANNING FALL OUTFITS WITH J.JILL: WOODLANDS

I am excited to have fall outfits with J.Jill include the “woodlands” trend this year.

You will see more and more fall outfits designed in greens and browns together…and with names like forests and woodlands.

It is part of a back to nature trend.

This is the same sweater I bought on sale.   I can already tell I will enjoy wearing it this year.

I tossed it over the PURE JILL AFFINITY SLIM LEG PANTS in the color sandstone,  the brown sweater and the new MIXED TEXTURE GILET in the olive-like color called Pesto.

Because I wanted more of fit in this garment, I did size down to a Large.

For my fall outfits with J.Jill, I have two more pieces on the way:

This is the COTTON GAUZE FRINGE JACKET in pesto; and I also ordered the OPEN TEXTURE CARDI.

I will style them for you soon.

PLANNING FALL OUTFITS WITH J.JILL:  ACCESSORIES

I can also tell that something else I will enjoy wearing this fall are these shoes from Easy Spirit!

These are the EDLINE SLIP ON CASUAL CLOGS in Brown Suede.

Super comfy and I really like the design.

It is fun to dream of fall while the sun is beating down outside.

  1. Love J Jill and I love the items you selected! Looking forward to seeing how you style the cardigan. As someone who is in the process of relocating to be closer to my daughter, I would love to hear more about the new property you purchased and also about how you’re dealing with leaving a home you love. It’s a hard process for me!

  2. It is very hard, Brenda. I love my home so much. I will be writing more about this, but not ready just yet to discuss the new housing situation. When I have confirmations, I will cover it. So glad you are here and we can do this together.

  3. It’s so exciting to see all the choices and selections you are making. I understand the difficult feelings about leaving a home that you love and have made your own. We’re here with you and supporting your every decision.

  4. I also love the JJill outfits. I have always liked their style which is casual but nicely pulled together.
I’m sure it is hard to leave your home but you are on t a new adventure closer to your daughter and family.
You really are planning some great outfits for fall. Are you getting rid of most of your clothes that you wore in San Antonio? You might need some of them or maybe just don’t want to move clothes you’re not going to wear. Good luck packing!

  5. I have done a little gleaning, Paula, but I am taking ALOT! Much to Mr. B’s disdain. I will glean more I am sure, but I want to wait and see what my new life will be like. I would rather have it with me than have regrets.

  6. How fun for you to be planning a fall wardrobe for your new city. I’ve always loved the season change when I can start wearing what I think of as “real clothes” as opposed to shorts and tee shirts. Seeing the fall clothing catalogs landing in the mailbox reminds me of high school days and how exciting it was to receive the September issue of Seventeen Magazine. I loved seeing the new styles even though I couldn’t afford the brands shown in the magazine. My mom and I would shop together for more budget friendly versions. August is my birthday month so I used my birthday discount at J Jill to buy the deep teal (Adriatic) open work sweater & matching tee you modeled on my birthday. The sweater is a great weight for fall and I anticipate wearing it all fall & winter. I am eyeing the clogs you are wearing today. I’ve never worn clogs. I’m afraid I might fall out the back but these look safe. Are they heavy?

  7. Remember you can use your birthday discount all month, Kathie!! Love how JJill offers that.
I feel very safe in the clogs, but I know it would be personal to different people. They are not heavy at all…they feel like a regular shoe to me. I miss those fall magazines…they are just too political now for me.

  8. Pam, I look forward to following your journey to new adventures. In 2019 we relocated from a small Nebraska town to Omaha (metro population 1 million) to be near our grand babies. It was a huge undertaking but 100% worth it! Being 15 minutes away compared to 4 hours is an enormous blessing. One suggestion – before you dismantle your house, go through each room (and outdoors) and take photos, then incorporate them into a ‘home sweet home’ photo book. I did that with our beloved house where our children grew up and look at it often. I still miss ‘home’ but we’re making wonderful memories here. I know you will, too!

  9. Fall always seems to pass us by in the California desert; come November we may get cool mornings and evenings but the sun remains hot. If I travel 2 hours west to see the grandkids I will need warmer clothes; after 6 years of traveling back and forth I have learned a few things mostly through observation of other grandmothers on the lacrosse field. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the style differences between Texas cities. I still miss my NY home but feel so fortunate to have had those experiences and to be able to spend the next chapters of my life doing what I am doing!

  10. I always love to see you in my favorite retailer! I have the olive fringed jacket on order, and hope it looks as good on me as it does you. You probably know that it still gets really hot in Abilene, but it is less humid and it still cools off a little at night. It’s over 100 in Fort Worth this week, with a heat index of 108-110. Prayers for our mutual survival!

  11. I am looking forward to it…just have a lot to do before I get there! Thanks Linda!

  12. I did write about the heat, but summer mornings and evenings have always been lovely there. I hope to have coffee outside the first morning I am there. Thanks Lorri.

  13. We have dog days of summer for about a month then lovely dry weather until November. We have had a random snowstorm in October but these are the Rocky Mountains. I looked up Abilene on Google maps and Wikipedia. It looks like a really nice city. All of those colleges and Universities will mean lots of young people and activities. Plus there is an Air Force base there. I’m still recovering from Covid19 and pretty shaky. I always enjoy reading your blog.

  14. Love that j Jill jacket you got on sale. Might have to see if it’s still available. I also sold a beloved house and moved. Seems many of us are in the same age range and experiencing change, sadness, adjustment, and hopefully, a happy ending!
Good luck, Pam. I’m sure you’ll be fine. But change comes with it’s own challenges.

  15. Enjoyed seeing the fall outfits you chose.
Moving isn’t easy, but the final destination is worth it.
The very best for you and Mr. B

  16. Hi Nancy, I looked for this jacket and could not find it. I know I will be fine…hope I did not insinuate otherwise. And I also know and expect challenges… but my prayer life is constant! Thanks!

  17. J. Jill is one of my favorite brands and I often find really great bargains in my favorite upscale consignment clothing stores here in OKC. I do buy on sale direct from their website as well. I’m more-than-thrilled that we are getting some wearable and pretty autumn palette colors. It’s about time! I’m excited for you and your move. I know it will be a wonderful change.
